| I've been looking for some really well written fics to read, and haven't found anything good dealing with my favorite characters. Thought I'd give this one a try, since it is apparent from the first paragraph that you are a gifted writer. Only through Chapter 1 now, but your writing is superb. I'm totally interested in Niki ... but I'm a bit confused. She isn't the same slayer that was killed by Spike right? Wasn't that in 1977? And wasn't she African-American? Not that African-American's can't have shoulder-length blond hair. Just wondering. |

Author's Response: I was wondering when this confusion would pop up: No, Niki (with on k) is a different Niki than the Nikki Woods Spike killed eight years earlier, but (if you're looking for irony) read just the first chapter of Man With a Thousand Faces to see deadly deja vu in action. So this Niki is Niki Valtaine, incidentally caucasian and childless (also happens to be drug addict, an alcoholic, a slight megalomaniac and sociopath, really her problems just go on and on... but she is a drummer, and that's good, right?). I'm glad you enjoy my style and I apologise if you got into this story thinking it would be about principal Woods' mother, but I hope to do justice with a brand new character. Also if you like the Logan character, he crops up in BtVS timeline fics The Man With a Thousand Faces and Walking in Fear (though admittedly he is the antagonist). Again, thanks for the review and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! |

OK, I forgive you for killing Hobbs. Tom rocks. And how can you not love a scene with a 9-year-old who's gouged out her own eyes? So does this mean Pierce will actually get to be dangerous? Because if so, I guess Niki's really up shit creek... (Oh, and nice touch with the Santa hat.)
Author's Response: The thing with that bar is that it has a high turnover rate for barkeeps. It just wouldn't be the same if the employees didn't live in constant fear. We're on a count down now to the end of the season so I'm delving into the heavy stuff (hint?), and yes, Pierce gets to walk on the wild side. |

its almost one in the morning here but i just got done reading the first 2 chappies and so far i really like it. i never gotten the chance to read into Niki's Slayer background cept that she got killed by Spike and she seems really cool for a Slayer so i decided to give in to your fic and read and i really like it. somehow it makes it more interesting that it takes place in NYC in the 80's which is one of the parts of the story i really like. And what the hell is with her Watcher? i still got a long way to go to catch up with this fic but i wanted to know is the Watcher backstabbing his Slayer by giving that bracelet to that vampire? Its a really interesting concept but either way your fic great so far and im sure gonna read the rest of it by tomorrow. please update soon!!

Another great chapter, but did you really have to kill Hobbs? I liked him. Creepy ending too - I really like the way you write, it's very descriptive, with just the right pinch of dry humor... And the thing with the bitemarks was spot on.

Hey, this is a lot better than "Saw". And also, torture = fun! (Axel mentioned John Carpenter earlier - couldn't they just take a hot needle and poke it in a blood sample to see who's infected? Worked in "The Thing"... hehe.) Keep it up!
