Chapter 1 - Getting her back
"She's coming!" Willow screamed at Xander. "She's coming back to us."
Angel looked at Willow and sighed, his expresson matching Xander's to a tee. "It's not her Wil. You must see that. You must see that she can't ever be the same as she was before."
Willow bit her lip. "But its Dawn. Our little Dawny and besides, you're not all evil."
"He has a soul Wil." Xander reached out to his friend.
"And whats to say she hasn't?"
Spike looked at her. "I know you're happy that she's coming back, love, but she doesn't have a soul, or a chip, look at the trail of bodies she's left behind."
"But why would she do that? I'm not saying you're lying Spike but I'm just trying to understand. Why would she shack up with him. After everything he put her through, after everything he did." Willow sighed the pain still fresh. "It's just...not a very Dawn thing to do you know?"
"We don't know her anymore Willow." Angel's eyes sent the hidden message across the room.
"So what? We have to prepare to kill the little one?" Faith stepped up and questioned the group, her eyes laying on Angel for a few more moments than she'd anticipated.
Spike stood up. "You touch her slayer and I'll kill you."

It had been almost a year since he'd done it. Changed her. And almost two since he'd killed her sister, and now she said she was leaving him, she said she didn't love him anymore. He could see in her eyes that she was lying, that she would always love him through the pain he created in her and through everything he manipulated her into doing. She would never know however, that in his own, twisted little way, he loved her too, the way he treated her, the way he always was with her, that was only because he was scared to say he cared. He was scared that she'd break him. This unforgiving little ex mortal who had fallen in love with her sisters murderer.
"OK then D. Leave. I'm not gunna try and stop you."
She sighed and flicked her newly trimmed hair from her face. "I never asked you to."

Dawn walked. She walked and walked until her feet hurt and then she walked just a little bit more, seeing the place she was looking for, finding the place she had always belonged, only stopping off for a bite to eat once on the way and never looking back; not to him.
