Giles sat in the library looking over particulary bloody rituals in an old book, boring, when he decided to give it a rest for the night. He then looked over to where Willow was sitting and saw that she was no longer awake, her long auburn hair was fanned out across the desktop and he suddenly wished he had spent his teenage years doing something more productive, and normal, than getting in big group orgies, and summoning demons and stuff. Looking at the young woman he felt very sad for her, because her teenage days would be almost as strange as his, only in a less icky, gothic and creepy way.The poor girl is the assistant of a vampire slayer, or a slayerette as she would put it, and her boyfriend had a small case of lycanthropy, which he imagined could put quite the strain on a relationship, and then there was Xander...and he was stranger than any super-natural thingy he ever ran into. He made him positivley wiggy, yep Xander gave Giles a grade 'A' case of the wiggins.
"Hey G-man here's that tea you asked for, its's hot, I brung you sugar packets cause I didn't know how much you liked," Xander said, making Giles jump slightly out his chair.
"Gee,sorry did'nt know you were the jumpy type." Xander said.
"That's alright Xander,I...was just...thinking..."
"Thinking eh, sounds like fun...What's that thinking thing like anyway, I've always heard mixed reviews." Xander said jokingly.
"I think you should try it out for yourself Xander, it's really something that could help you out in dangerous situations," Giles answered, not in a joking mood.
Xander than went over to Willow and started to wake her up...she wasn't responding to his voice, he then gently stroked her hair and she jumped straight up.
"Eek, gee Xander, you trying to kill me, it felt like there was a frog on my head or something," Willow said now fully awake.
"A frog? Oh yes you have frog fear," Giles said.
"Sorry Will, I just wanted to wake you up, your mom will be worried or something," Xander said sincerely.
"Yes Willow, you really need to go home, or something. I...I did want to tell you about the book that I lent out to that, um, Oz chap, it's about Lycanthropy, it had a lot of techniques on bringing out the beast...by choice, it can teach him how, if he wanted to, to turn into a werewolf at will. And it teaches him how to control it when he does, um, bring it out. So now, if he's ever in trouble he can use it to his advantage. You know it might come in handy if maybe he went along on one of Buffys excursions that you two seem so fond of joining her on," Giles said quickly.
"That's nice Giles, I hope he doesn't ever have to use the skill though," Willow said groggily.
"At will? Are you crazy, he can just bring it out at will? Who's to say he's not gonna just bring it out and like hurt someone, you gave him a choice?" Xander shouted, looking straight at Giles.
"From what I've seen of him he seems like a very responsible, and capable young man, I don't think we'll have to worry about him hurting anyone on purpose, he seems very polite," Giles said slightly annoyed with Xander.
"Yeah, okay, whatever, come on Willow, I'm taking you home now," Xander said kinda wired.
"Well, I was going to stay at...."
Buffy then walked in the door trailed by a nervous looking Oz, he always looked fairly nervous around Xander.
"Buffy, we were just talking about you...Whats Scooby doing here any way?" Xander shouted.
"Scooby?" a confused Oz asked.
"Well, if you want to be part of the Scooby gang, don't you think since your the closest one to being a doggy, Scooby fits you the best?" an amused Xander asked.
"Well, if I'm Scooby I guess you'll have to be the lazy, and food obcessed Shaggy?" Oz mused.
"Guess so," Shaggy..err..Xander said as he stuffed a Ho-Ho into his mouth.
"Eww, eww, eww, can I be Velma?" Willow asked with a smile on her face.
"Come on Will, that gos without saying," Xander said after swallowing the snack.
"Since we're all so keen on the subject of Scooby, I saw Oz's 'Mystery Machine' out by the park where I was doing my slayage, and he offered me a ride back to the library." A tired looking Buffy said in one breath. "So, you think you could give me and Will a ride to my place?"
"Sure, no prob."Oz answered quickly.
Buffy then headed outside while Willow and Oz greated each other with a peck on the lips.
"What were you doing at the park at his hour?" Willow asked confused.
"I couldn't sleep, and when that happens I have to play guitar, so I went to the park to play so I wouldn't wake anyone up,'' Oz explained with a crooked smile, his smile.
"Oh, okay, It's nice to see you," she replied.
"So, I guess if I'm Scooby, to me, your kisses would be Scooby Snacks," he said with a smile that looked as cheesey as the joke he has just made. She then kissed him again, and laughed tiredly.
"Well, let's go catch up with Buffy," Willow said and led Oz out of the library.
When they got to Buffy's house Buffy got out and told Willow to stay there to see if everything was clear, and her mom wasn't gonna catch them coming in at such a late hour, but the real reason was to give Willow and Oz a moment to say goodbye, so they wouldn't feel weird with her there if they wanted to give each other smoochies. Buffy understood smoochies even if she hadn't had any in a while.
"Well, it was nice of you to give Buffy a ride to the library, and us a ride back to her house," Willow said kinda nervously, nervous from be left alone with him, nervous about smoochies.
"It's no problem really, I've been having a lot of nightmares lately and playing guitar helps me forget them for awhile, they can get fairly freaksome, and stuff, but I don't always have them, I don't have them after I've seen you, it's like your sweet smile wards off the demons." Oz said sweetly.
"Well, thanks...I just wish it was that easy in real life, then if I just flash a smile all the evil, bad stuff would leave Sunnydale, oh but, then that would suck too, 'cause then Buffy would leave to fight somwhere else, and then that Werewolf you would like leave, and then, you'd come back, and then he'd leave, and then you'd come back, and he'd leave until you decide to just stay gone cause it got annoying always having to leave, and come back, and leave, and come back, and..." Oz then stopped her nervous babble with a kiss to the lips, she then returned it until it ended about a minute later.
"Oh, uh, Oz that was so nice, and sweet, but I better go. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" "Alright, I'll see ya...in the morrow." Oz said, after she had gotten out and closed the door.
Who is that girl?" he mused to himself watching the girl he had admired from afar for so long walk away from him.
"Alright Willow, tell me all the details, I must have details, my own pathetic love-life is so...well I don't have a love life anymore, so I must hear your details," An exited Buffy said as she and Willow were settled in for the night.
"Um, none to share, we said bye, and then I came up here and started to get ready to sleep." Willow said with a little 'I just got major kissage by a hot senior' look on her face, that she hoped Buffy couldn't see.
"Oh come off it Will, I see that little, "I just got kissed by a cute senior' smile on your face, spill," Buffy said prodding on.
"Well, first of all you're not very perceptive, because I've got a 'I just got major kissage from a hot senior' look on my face, there is a difference you know. See, he was hot tonight, cause he had his cool hair," Willow sad gleefuly.
"Oh, I stand corrected, he had his cool hair. Major kissage huh? Like, majorly wet, majorly sweet, or majorly long...cause you were out there for a while," Buffy prodded on.
"A little of all of those, but mostly focusing on the sweet, and great and stuff."
"Any probs with the whole no biting thing, cause biting can be good, exept when it passes on a curse thingy."
"Buffy...uh...even if we wanted biting, we could as long as there is no peircing of the skin."
"I see you've thought about this a lot. Who started the kiss?" Buffy asked prodding her friend for the juicy details.
"Well, he was complementing me and I freaked and started babbling then he kinda kissed me...to stop the babbling...and to be kissing me also, I hope. We should sleep now...sleep, it's good for us you know." Willow said wanting to end the convo.
"Alright Will, but we'll talk more tomorrow," Buffy replied.
That night Xander lay awake all night thinking about...love and Willow, it was all he'd been thinking about lately, he couldn't get her out of his head. He kept remembering back to when they were younger, and all the fun they used to have together, and what a great friend Willow had always been. Willow has always been there, and had always been sweet nice and caring, not to mention beautiful...in her own way. And tonight, she looked so gorgeous when she was sleeping, like an angel. Why had he always looked past her to the shallow conceited ones, like Cordelia, but she'd been getting better, she's never as mean as she used to be, maybe...but he just couldn't get past the scene in his bedroom, Willow had looked so...so sexy. Everytime he had that thought he hit himself on the head. *Willow is not to be thought of as sexy.* Why is she envading my thoughts? Why do I have to fall in love now? And that damned Oz, what the hell does she see in him? He's a damn werewolf, he's a senior guy in a band, what is there to like about him? He's just going to hurt her in the end. If it was up to me... he ended his thought there and remembered what Buffy had told him. It wasn't up to him.
The next day at school Xander stopped Willow in the halls and asked her what Oz was doing at the park at 2:00 in the morning, she replied quickly by saying that he was just playing the guitar.
"Oh great, now we have a freaky senior guy who hangs out in the park late at night, is a werewolf, and is putting the moves on my sweet and innocent best friend. Why didn't Buffy just kill him?'' Xander said annoyed by Oz's whole existance. "Why can't you be happy for me, I mean I'm learning to deal with that whole Cordy thing. What's so bad about Oz?" Willow said annoyed with Xanders dislike of her boyfriend.
"Shall I make a list? Number One, he's a senior guy in a band, and if that's not enough...Number two, tried to eat me and Cordy. Number three, tried to eat you. Number four, He hit me in the face. Oh and I don't want him in our little clique, cause he's all those things and more," Xander said quickly, in one breath.
"You'll get over it, remember you didn't like Cordy and you got over that,"Willow said searching for something to say.
"Oh, yeah okay, I'll start dating him too, you know, like I did with Cordy, and then I'll accept him as one of the gang, and go to the utility closet with him..."
"Alright Xander, I get the picture, He grows on you though...''
"Much like a fungus does I'm sure..."
"Alright have it your way, but don't always be so quick to judge," Willow said angrily and walked away.
Buffy then walked up to Xander from behind. She had heard the whole conversation.
"Do I sense a bit of jealousy Xander?" She asked with a weird smile on her face.
"Jealous, me, of that short, little freak, whose everchanging hair is probably fried from all the hair dye? Sure, lots to love, lots to be jealous of," Xander said, looking upset.
"Grrr, Xander, he's not that bad, in fact he's pretty cool, polite, thinks of Willow as a goddess, and aren't they so damn cute together?"
"Well, I guess no one is going to see my side of this...So I'm off to see if the G-man needs any help...bye Buffy," Xander said with a pouting child look that made Buffy smile, and he then left.
"Um,Willow. Can I talk to you? It's about Xander," Cordelia said Coming up from behind Willow outside at lunch.
"Sure Cordy, but I don't think I can be of much use when it comes to Xander, I don't think I know him anymore, in fact I've been wanting to ask you about him, he's been real strange around me lately, and he's so mean when it comes to Oz," Willow replied.
"Well, he's so protective of you and Buffy, I guess he's afraid of you being hurt, err whatever. I mean, he may be a lame geek, but I like him and stuff, so I've been worried about him lately, he's been so quick to go study with Giles, and he's like using it as an excuse to leave when things ever get bad anymore,"Cordy said quickly and then snapped her gum.
"Well, I don't know what to tell you, maybe Giles might know what his problem is since Xander's been hanging out in the library so much," Willow said desperatly trying to think of a way to get to the bottom of Xander's behavior.
"Worth a try, lets go," Cordelia said as Willow got up, and then they both started walking towards the library together.
Cordelia must be really desperate to come to me, and then agree to go to Giles just to see what's up with Xander, Willow thought to herself.
Oz sat in the back of his van, laquering on his third coat of black nail polish, his favorite kind was Hard Candy, even though it was a little more expensive. He loved working on his nails, it was a temporary release from...well...thought. He was pondering whether or not to dye his hair tonight or not, I have had spikey red for a while, mabye I'll do strawberry blonde or brown, he thought as he finished up his nails. Oz stared blankly at his nails while waiting for them to dry, he started thinking about...what else...Willow. He knew he wasn't tall, dark, and handsome, in fact he was short, and sweet , and he was...well not unattractive, but not conventionly handsom, at least that's how he felt about himself. Tall, dark and handsome....that's more like Willow's friend Xander, the obnoxious one, that for some odd reason she loved. Oz was always such a peacful person, to the point where some people thought that he had to be on some kind of drugs, of course the band thing probably contrubuted to that mis-conseption also. Of course with a personality like his, sometimes it was best to let people think he was a druggie, then he wouldn't always have to explain his state of mind to people. He was peaceful, and never thought himself capable of hate...but that Xander guy was steadily changing that. Xander was the only person he had ever hit, and damn did that hurt his hand, oh well that guy deserved it after the stunt he had pulled, He can hate me, or be jealous of me, or distrusful, er...whatever, but nobody hurts Willow and gets away with it so easily. His nails finally finished drying and he started out the back of his van to go see if he could go find Willow. It was starting to get hot out again so it was nice to be out of that stuffy van.
Xander started walking down the halls towards his locker so he could get his lunch, pondering Oz and Willow's relationship, and how much it sucked. Ever since Valentines Day, when he had Amy cast that spell, he had been thinking about the whole scene with her in his shirt, and in his bed, and how he had found out that Willow had loved him even before that. I wonder if she still does, he thought to himself. Ever since then he'd been thinking, maybe he had felt the same way but didn't know it. It's not that she isn't pretty, she is very pretty actually...and she loved me. Maybe she'll love me again, maybe we can be together, maybe....He was suddenly interupted by Buffy.
"Xan-Man, what's on your mind, you look deep in thought, is it that test cause....He stopped her there with the word Willow, he told her he'd been thinking about Willow.
"What about her?" Buffy asked him puzzled by the look on his face and his tone of voice.
"She loved me, I think I love her too now," Xander replied.
"Oh, no you don't, not now...she likes Oz"
