Summery: After Buffy’s Death Dawn is called as the slayer. Set 5 years after season 7. Spike, Dawn, Angel and Willow have a little body swapping problem read it its ace. (Not that I’m gloating or anything ;-)
Author’s notes: short chapter I know but they will get longer. I promise.
Part 8
Willow woke with a start feeling refreshed and better about what the day had to hold. She got up and stretched feeling her back crack she felt the sudden need to take a shower and brighten up her limbs. She stood there in the shower letting the hot water wash over her body making all her worries from the day before seep away. When Willow finally emerged from the bathroom and towelled herself dry she stood over her wardrobe searching for something good to wear. Finally picking out a plain red top and black trousers.
Willow made her way downstairs and entered the kitchen. Fancying a slice of toast she tried looking for the bread, thinking hard about where her parents had kept it. After looking for a while and still not being able to find it she gave up figuring that they were probably out of bread anyway. She opened the fridge to find it empty apart from some mouldy cheese. Giving up completely on breakfast she went into the front room to watch some TV only to find that it wouldn’t turn on.
Willow was getting angry now; she wondered just how long her parents had been in England. Thinking back she realised that they had been there for nearly a year now. No wonder the TV wasn’t working no-body had been paying the bills for ages. Signing and realising that if she wanted to do anything except sit there doing nothing she decided to go for a walk before returning to the Summers house.
As Willow was walking through park thinking about nothing much she banged into someone lifting her head up she met eyes with Kennedy. Kennedy smiled then apologised. Willow tried to force a smile onto her face succeeding after a while.
“Hey,” Willow said “What have you been up to?”
“Nothing much I just got up and thought maybe I would feel better if I had a walk. Are you feeling any better?” Kennedy asked.
Willow smiled answering truthfully.
“Strangely I do. I really needed some sleep. But I’m still not perfect, I suppose you can guess why. I just need a bit of time to think things through.”
“I think we all do.” Kennedy replied
“Ok then well I think I should be off, ya know lots of thinking to do.”
“Erm, ok well I’ll see you later, won’t I?” Kennedy questioned
“Yeah sure. Later”
Willow started to walk away not looking back. Willow sat down on the bench remembering that just a couple of days ago she had sat down on this same bench talking to Angel about everything and anything. Life had seemed so different then. Now her brain was in too much of a scramble to even to think about her life. She sat there for what seemed like an eternity finally deciding that she would go and see Angel maybe he would be able to comfort her and make her feel better about everything that had happened. She set off to see him hoping for the best.

Dawn lay in bed looking at the ceiling, she didn’t want to get up as that would mean facing her sister and she just wasn’t ready to do that. She sat thinking about everything and anything. Trying anyway she could to postpone getting up. Eventually she built up her courage and nipped downstairs for a quick coffee before getting into the shower. As she stood in the shower she realised that it wouldn’t make her feel any better. The fact was her older dead sister was sitting in the room next door. Giving up Dawn left the bathroom and towel-dried her hair. Wrapping the towel around her she set off downstairs. Buffy was sat in the kitchen eating cereals in the same clothes she was wearing yesterday.
Dawn wondered if she had any other clothes because she had got rid of them all when Buffy had died. Buffy saw Dawn staring at what she was wearing. She smiled
“Ya see the problem with dying then coming back to life is that all the clothes you owned are gone.” Buffy looked down then back up at Dawn “Which means my favourite oyster silk Dior top has gone.” Buffy smiled “Isn’t life a bitch!”
Dawn didn’t know what to say Buffy was being casual yet mentioning her death. Dawn decided to jump upon the chance to talk to her about something other than death so she decided on clothes.
“Ya know I’ve got some money left over from what Xander gave me when he did his first big break film, I could take some out of the bank and we could go shopping for you some new clothes. Maybe ask if Tara and Kennedy want to come too, because… well… ya know.”
Buffy smiled at the thought of a whole new wardrobe everything up to style starting from scratch.
“And maybe get me a new Dior top?” Buffy asked, Dawn just nodded. “Then why the hell not?”
Dawn was happy that Buffy and her were actually speaking normally even if it was just for a second. Dawn realised maybe it would be great to have her sister back, she wasn’t on her own anymore she was with somebody who knew what she was going through. For the first time that day Dawn smiled. She then turned to the living room and gave Buffy a questioning look.
“Tara and Kennedy?”
Buffy looked up again from eating her cereals and nodded towards the living room.
“Tara’s in there but Kennedy left for a walk a while back.”
As if on cue Kennedy walked through the back door and into the kitchen.
“Speak of the devil.” Buffy said through mouthfuls.
