The first one to get the bad news was Willow. She quickly called the rest of the Scooby Gang and they all anxiously headed to the hospital to see Buffy. When they arrived there they entered the waiting room and were greeted by a young doctor.
“What happened? What’s wrong with her? Is she going to be alright? Can we see her?” The all bombarded the doctor with questions.
“Are you her relatives? We can only disclose information to relatives.” The doctor calmly replied.
“Uh…yeah, we’re related.” Xander replied back.
“All of you?” The doctor asked suspiciously.
“Yes! Now please, what’s wrong?!?!?” Giles asked the doctor.
“Well, there was an accident.” He started slowly. “It seems as though she had parked her car on the side of the road and the car’s roof collapsed in on her. The ambulance got to her quickly, and we were able to stabilize her, but…”
“But what?!?!?” Willow asked the sad looking doctor.
“She’s fallen into a coma.” The doctor replied sympathetically. “We’re trying to pull her out of it, but nothing we do seems to help. And if we can get her out of it, there’s a good chance we may never get her back.”
“But, couldn’t she just…wake up?” Willow asked, her voice cracking.
“She could, but it’s very unlikely.” The doctor replied sadly.
“Isn’t there anything we can to do help?” Pleaded Xander.
“No, I’m sorry.” The doctor answered. “All you can do is wait. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go check on your…relative.”
The doctor turned and quickly exited the near-empty waiting room. They all looked at each other for a second before they sat down on an old couch to wait for more news. The room was filled with an awkward silence broken only by the sound of yelling and crying coming from a nearby room. Then Angel entered.
