Buffy woke up with the alarm-clock screaming in her ear. She quickly shut off the hated machine and tiredly pulled herself out of bed. She got dressed and headed off to another day of classes at UC Sunnydale.

When her lunch period finally came she went and sat down at an empty table in the corner of the cafeteria. Xander walked over and sat down next to her.

“Hey Buffy,” Xander greeted her, “How’s life?”

“Good, but why are you here?” Inquired Buffy.

“What, I’m not allowed to visit my good friend?!?!?” Replied Xander defensively.

Buffy look at him questioningly.

“Fine. They’re putting in some new dorms and I’m helping with the construction.” Xander admitted. “If you must know, Anya’s been shopping and I need some extra cash to pay off the credit card bills. Ever since I got this raise she thinks I’m made of money.”

Buffy chuckled at Xander’s admission and then glanced at her watch. “Oh, Xander, I gotta go. I promised Giles I’d meet him at his house 15 minutes ago.”

“Okay, see ya Buffy.” Xander said.

“Bye,” Buffy replied as she stood and walked out of the crowded cafeteria. She jogged towards the campus parking lot and got in the car that Willow had lent her. She turned the key in the ignition and listened to the familiar hum of the starting engine before she gently pressed on the gas pedal and pulled out of her parking spot. Suddenly Buffy caught sight of something moving behind her. Startled, she glanced back to see an empty parking lot. Buffy pressed on the gas again and sped off towards Giles’ house.

When she was about halfway there, she noticed that the bushes alongside the road were rustling. She kept the car going at the same speed and tried to ignore it, but it was becoming increasingly obvious that whatever was in those bushes was following her. She changed into the lane closer to where the rustling was and tried to get a good look at whatever was following her. She couldn’t see anything through the thick brush and she was getting annoyed-and a little creeped out-so she decided that she would stop the car and see what would happen. Buffy nervously slowed the car to a stop and the rustling stopped too. Suddenly, something that looked like a wisp of red smoke shot out of the foliage and in through the car’s open window. It circled around the inside of the car a few times before it flew straight at her. The last thing she saw before she blacked out was the roof of the car caving in on her.

A/N: First off, if you’re reading this story you’re awesome! (And you’ll be even more awesome if you review-hint, hint) Sorry if the Buffy driving a car thing goes against something said in the TV show, I couldn’t remember if she ever got her license or not. Anyway, I’ll review soon so keep reading!
