(The gang is at the airport with Buffy to see her off.)
“What time is it?” Willow asked waving to Buffy as she disappeared out of sight with her carry-on bag.
“Ten to Eight.” Xander responded checking his watch.
“I think it’s a sin.” Dawn responded. “For any teenager to be up this early on a Saturday.”
“I agree.” Paige commented.
“I third that.” Xander said as they all headed toward the airport exit. “Lets all go home and sleep. Like the cool people do.”

(Back at the Summer’s house, everyone was sleeping in different places except Giles and Anya who had to open the Magic Box.)
Dawn and Paige were the last up. The slumped down the stairs still in their pajamas, the sun was shining brightly through the windows. Instinctively, both headed for the kitchen. They found Willow cooking.
“Whatcha cooking?” Dawn asked sitting down at the counter pouring herself a glass of orange juice. Paige followed suit, pouring herself a glass too.
“Waffles.” Willow responded.
Dawn checked the clock. “It’s 2:30… A little past waffle time.”
“It’s never too late for waffle time.”
“Do you have too cook them? Can’t you just like pop those Eggo suckers in the toaster?” Paige suggested.
“Yeah, but it’s more fun this way. It’s a learning experience.”
“Creepy. She escaped high school but she still insists on learning.” Dawn said giggling.
Just then Xander walked in the back door with a large paper bag. “I got all your waffle necessities”
Xander put the bag on the far side of the counter and started calling out the names of all the syrups before Willow interrupted him. “Xander, do you really thing 4 people are going to need that much?”
“No, but I was hoping I could take the rest home cuz Anya never lets me get it.”
“Umm sure.” Willow said as she dropped two waffles on each of the four plates. She handed a plate to everyone and then forks and knifes and Xander handed out the syrup.
“What syrup do you want, little lady?” He directed to Paige.
“None, thanks I don’t like syrup on my waffles.”
Xander shot her a terrified glance. “How is that possible? What do you eat them with then?”
“Nothing I like them plain.”
“But that takes away the whole point of-”
“Are you planning on going patrolling tonight, Paige?” Willow asked interrupting Xander's rant.
“Ummm… Might as well.” Paige responded
“Then me and Xander are going with you.”
“Caure gore witre youresrg.” Dawn said with a mouthful of waffle. She swallowed then repeated herself, “Can I go with you guys?”
“I don’t know if Buffy would like that.” Xander said
“Yeah, Buffy has made her opinions about you and patrolling clear.” Willow added.
“Not like I’d be any safer here home all alone. I mean look at all the deadly appliances around, I could get electrocuted and die. I see the headlines now, ‘Young Girl’s Life Tragically Ended by Toaste-”
“Okay you can come but I swear if something happens to you… I’ll… be angry.”
“O no, not that.”
“I’m not kidding.”
“I know, I know I’ll be careful.” Dawn said heading back to her waffle.

(The sun was beginning to set and the group was preparing to head out on patrol)
This seemed to be a bigger production than Paige was used to. Usually she just grabbed her stake, her jacket and headed out. Now that there was a group of “civilians” involved they now needed multiple stakes, crosses, holy water and Xander insisted on bringing an Axe. Paige waited impatiently on the couch twirling her stake in her hand.
Eventually everyone was ready and they headed out.
They decided to hit the closest graveyard first. They staked two or three vampire uneventfully. The gang was better fighters than Paige thought they would be. About two hours into the patrol they noticed a group of at least three vampires at least 300 yards away. They split up and ducked down behind a crypt. The plan worked flawlessly. The vampires had no idea they were there as she snuck up behind one and lifted her stake… Suddenly the vampire turned around. Paige looked up at the vampires face and couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
“Hello Daughter.” The vampire said with a smirk.
“Paige! Watch you-.” Xander screamed.
Paige turned around just in time to see a metal bat make contact with her skull. A white light flashed through her eyes. She felt the warm blood flow down her head. She didn’t even remember hitting the ground. She heard yelling and fighting before she fell into unconsciousness.
