Buffy paused for a moment.

'I'm sorry Giles, but I have no other choice. I've got to find the vamp before he does anymore damage. He may clue me up on who he's working for too'

Giles took off his glasses and cleaned them briskly, 'Very well', he sighed. 'I suppose that a plan is required however before we act too rashly'.

'Yeah, a plan!' piped up Willow excitedly. But then her face fell. 'But, by the time we think up anything nifty then it'll be too late anyway...'

'Maybe that's the vampire's plan', noted Oz.

'Okay, I'm not exactly idea girl today', Buffy admitted. 'So, any takers...?'

'Actually, there is something...' Xander steeped forward, almost secretively.

Everyone stared at him for a moment, shocked.

'Thanks for the vote of confidence', commented sarcastically.

'Xander, get on with it' smiled Buffy.

'Well, this is what we could do...'

Buffy stood in the cubicle, waiting for the the sign. After repeated glances at her watch, the fire alarm sounded, and gradually, footsteps could be heard heading outside. Briefly, she recalled the time when she had set off an alarm at Hemery High. Plus the fire.

She listened carefully. Everyone seemed to be outside. It was time to act. She just hoped Snyder wouldn't discover that it was Xander who had set off the drill.

The idea was that she find the vampire when the building was clear. He was bound to be still around, hiding, waiting for sundown until he could flee the scene. But Buffy had other plans for him. She run around the classrooms, peered into the restrooms incase he had returned to his favourite haunt. Nothing. It took a few minutes of sheer panic until she realised that there was one place a half-witted vampire would truly hide. The Janitor's Closet. Moving quickly, she returned to the closet and swung the door open. She retrieved a small stake from her handbag and raised it.

Surely enough, a particularly ugly vampire growled at the sight of her, raising his clawed hands in pointless defence.

'Well look', she mocked. 'If it isn't Solid Snake himself'

'Please...don't kill me' he screeched.

'Oh, believe me, I've heard that one before', she smirked. 'I've had enough of this whole haggling thing. I'm tired of Ms Negotiator. How about I stake you and get tthis over with?'

'Please, you want answers, i'll give you answers...'

'It'll be lies...'

'No! No! I'll tell you who I'm working for'

'Maphius?'

'Who?'

Buffy lowered her stake slightly. 'What do you mean "who?" '

'I can lead you to my real master' he pleaded. 'He's right here in the building. Waiting for you'

Buffy felt immediately intruiged. This wimpy looking vampire seemed to be telling the truth. If she met his master now, could she kill two birds with one stone? It was daytime, surely that was an advantage?

But if he wasn't working for Maphius, shouldn't she just plunge and move on? Some low-key vampire leader wasn't worth the risk of being caught.
