"Why do you let Xander talk down to you?"
"He doesn't."
"He nags you about what you say, how you say it, your behaviour..." Dawn ticked off points on her fingers.
"Xander loves me."
"But does he love you as you are or what he expects you to be?" Spike leaned on the counter, toying with a display that Anya promptly moved out of reach.
"Xander loves me." Her tone was adamant, but she felt a small niggle and wondered if perhaps Hally had been right to question the relationship.
Life was much simpler when she was a vengeance demon.
