Walking through the hallway with her best friends Willow and Xander,
Buffy Summers was surprised when she ran into a blonde, “Watch out,” the blonde exclaimed.
“I’m so sorry…” Buffy started to apologize until she saw who it was,” Wait no I’m not.”
The blonde was William Giles, or how he liked to be called Spike.
A couple of years earlier Spike had moved to Sunnydale from England with his extremely British and (according to Buffy) the tweediest person on the planet father, the school librarian.
As soon as he came he and Buffy immediately disliked each other, Spike cut class, had detention every day, made teachers quit after they had him, and had the most annoying self confidence about anything he did, that was really irritated Buffy, always so full of himself. Spike always had a Cordette or two, hanging off his every word as they drooled about his (in the head Cordette's own words) ‘totally hot accent, amazing body, and (most disgusting of all), piece of salty goodness,’ eww!
Buffy though was on the honor role, was sweet and nice, and was a teacher’s angel. She wasn’t the most popular because Queen Cordelia had it out for, what was it, oh yeah the bitch-of-the-year, ever since Buffy decided to hang out with ‘losers’ instead of her, now she was on the popular blacklist. But Buffy was still admired even with a lower social status then Cordy, she had moved from L.A to Sunnydale after her parents messy divorce (literally messy when the divorce papers were being signed the floor had so many broken pieces of plastic and glass from all the thrown plates Buffy couldn’t walk into the dining room without bodily harm.)
No one really understood why Buffy and Spike were Mortal Enemies, but it became too dangerous to ask about it, so they were left with their seething hatred in peace. Every chance they had they would insult the other; it was so routine no one noticed when they were at each others throat.
This day was no different, “Decide to come to school today Captain Peroxide?” Came Buffy’s fake sweet remark, her eyes fiery with the prospect of confrontation before her.
“Decide to shut up for once pet? Wait I’m sorry I shouldn’t wish for the impossible,” Spike retorted.
“Yeah well you…” Buffy started before Willow cut her off annoyed by her friends constant bickering,
“You can fight with Spike later, its time for class; you know the place we go to learn?”
“Fine, whatever,” Buffy replied huffily. The three friends walked down the hall before being joined by Xander’s girlfriend Anya.
“Hello friends of Xander, who are also my friends because of mutual Xander like age, but not in the sexual way because only I’m allowed to have sex with Xander,” Anya rambled hostilely but was comforted by Xander’s arm around her waist.
“Hey Anya,” the group greeted not affronted by Anya’s directness.
“Buff just had her hourly fight with Spike,” Xander explained.
“I’m sorry he just makes me so angry,” Buffy sighed at how much the blonde got to her.
"It's obvious why he bugs you so much,” Anya rolled her eyes; Buffy raised her eye brows waiting for an answer.
“You’re into each other, theirs enough sexual tension there to make me want to have more orgasms from Xander and believe me do I get a lot."
Tara and Willow blushed, Buffy looked disbelieving, Xander tried to think of a joke to distract from his girlfriends bluntness, and Anya looked bored.
“What! He annoys me because he’s an arrogant jerk!”
“An arrogant jerk who likes you,” Anya answered calculating in her head the money she would get if she did two extra chores after school.
“He does not like me Anya! We hate each other!”
“Whatever Buffy, I’ve seen the way he looks at you, pure lust,” Anya concluded.
All through History class Buffy was disturbed at the thought of Spike and her, ugh.
Of course Spike was in her class because someone was trying to punish her, so he would constantly whisper to her and pull her hair, normal annoying Spike, right?
What if those smirks at her were more then just ways to drive her crazy?
Why did he drive her crazy?
It was all to confusing for Buffy, she didn’t even say anything when Spike pushed her on the way out which could’ve been a record if she wasn’t too wigged to care.
“What Anya said about me and Spike was crazy right,” Buffy questioned Willow for best friend advice, her voice shaking slightly.
Willow looked at the floor shifting her feet before answering, “No, he’s liked you forever.”
“How do you know?” Buffy asked feeling sick to her stomach.
“Oh come on Buffy! He’s been flirting with you since the day he came here! And don’t even try to deny any feelings for him, it won’t work!”
It was shocking to Buffy at her friends outburst, Willow Rosenberg was not one for confrontation.
Willow walked away as Buffy leaned against her locker and slid to the floor, life had just gotten so much more complicated.
If she thought things were complicated then she would’ve ran out of the school when she found out Spike was around the corner, he heard it all.
“Bloody hell,” Spike cursed, she knew.
He had fallen in love with her on his first day at Sunnydale High. She was supposed to show him around school, and he used the opportunity to flirt with her.
He insulted her, she insulted him back it started there ‘hate’ for each other, he had her picture on his wall and only went to classes he had with her.
At the time Buffy had been dating Angel O’Conner but he broke her heart when he dumped her for Darla Sire, it enraged Spike more then anyone knew.
He had never liked Angel, mostly because he had Buffy instead of him, but when he broke up with her Spike hated Angel to his poncey core.
So he had tried to move on by dating Drusilla Black but she was kinda crazy and cheated on him at every chance so eventually she dumped him. -
Spike had known all along he would never forget about Buffy, she was all he thought about, she was his everything.
Now she knew how he felt about her, what would she do, did he have an actual chance?
