Disclaimer: In my wildest dreams I don’t own Buffy the vampire slayer!
“I won’t forget,” the words echoed in Spike’s mind as he paced his crypt, like a bird confined in a cage.
His mind screamed, “Don’t go after her! You’ll mess up whatever you already have with her!”
But his heart argued, “You love her don’t you! Go after her! This might be your only chance!” Spike wasn’t one for planning, but this was Buffy, the rules changed. “Well you better decide the sun’s coming up in a few hours!”
“I’m doing it, I’m gonna try to get Buffy!” Spike concluded, grabbing his duster, he went to find the love of his unlife.
Buffy was in the cemetery on patrol, venting her many emotions on the undead. “Slayer,” a fledgling called, attacking her.
“Yeah I’m the slayer, a slayer who’s having a really bad day, so don’t push it!” Buffy kicked, punched, dodged, and flipped any thing that came near her.
After she had made the cemetery seemingly vamp free, she walked over to her mother’s grave.
“Hey Mom, I miss you, Dawn does to. I try as hard as I can to protect her, but I’m afraid. What if she dies? I can’t lose her to,” Buffy told, her voice choked.
“I’m so sorry,” she breathed; she knew it wasn’t her fault about her mother’s death, but she still felt bad anyway.
Spike had been watching her through it all, and decided it was time to make his move.
“What’s wrong slayer?” Spike asked approaching her tentatively.
“What’s wrong with me? Everyone I care about either leaves me, turns evil, dumps me, cheats on me, uses me, or dies.” Buffy explained, her voice stung with pain.
“Nothing, and I mean nothing wrong with you love. Anyone would have to be a bloody wanker to not treat you right,” Spike sharply then softly told her.
“If Dawn dies, I’ll be alone. Hank isn’t my family anymore, Mom died, if she dies I don’t know what I’ll do,” Buffy whispered bitterly, tears running down her cheeks.
“I know you probably won’t want it, but if you need me I’ll be there. You’ll never be alone,” Spike promised, holding her shaking body.
“I do want it, you’re the only person who’s always there for me if I need it, I don’t know what I’d do with out you Spike,” Buffy said gazing up at him.
"I love you Buffy,” Spike exclaimed, his heart swelling with happiness that Buffy cared.
A small smile graced Buffy’s lips, as she gently kissed him.
There wasn’t fireworks, Time didn’t stop, but they didn’t need that, all they needed was… each other.
Spike’s face had a mixture of shock, and the feeling of pure contentment, true happiness.
Smiling shyly, Buffy took Spike’s hand in hers and walked back to his crypt.
They watched Passions [Spike had them all on DVD] and Buffy fell asleep in Spike’s arms.
Spike woke up the next morning full of dread, he knew she wouldn’t still be there when he woke up.
To his surprise Buffy was fast asleep, he didn’t want to wake her, and so he just watched her sleep. When Buffy opened her eyes the first thing she saw was Spike.
“Morning love,” Spike whispered wrapping his arms around her.
“Hi,” Buffy smiled sleepily. “I have to go take Dawn to school, wanna come?”
“Course love,” Spike immediately answered, he’d do anything for Buffy. Spike drove Buffy home, grinning all the way.
“Why are you so happy,” Buffy asked curiously.
“You,” Spike replied he was never as happy as he was with her.
“Really?” Buffy inquired blushing.
“Best thing I have,” Spike answered, brushing a lock of hair out of her face.
“I’ll come by later,” Buffy whispered kissing him lightly. He nodded as Buffy went inside; leaning on the closed door she smiled.
“Where’ve you been,” Dawn asked walking down the stairs.
“Oh I was just at Spike’s,” Buffy replied offhandedly.
“Just at Spike’s! Just at Spike’s that’s great! It’s about time you two got together,” Dawn exclaimed knowingly. Dawn hugged Buffy while saying, “I’m so happy for you! I can’t believe you finally got over yourself!”
“Thanks…I guess,” Buffy laughed.
“You know what I mean!”
“Yeah I do, come on; we have to take you to school. I’m meeting Spike later,” Buffy explained.
“Well if your meeting Spike then let’s go now!” She smiled at her sister’s excitement, “Maybe were meant to be,” Buffy thought grabbing her keys.
After taking Dawn to school Buffy went to Spike’s crypt.
About to kick the door open as usual Buffy thought, “He’s kinda my boyfriend now, I guess I should knock.”
She rapped on the door, “Bloody girl scouts,” Spike thought; going into vamp mode opened the door.
“Is that how you answer the door to your girlfriend,” Buffy stated sassily at Spike’s astonishment.
“You’re my girlfriend now then love?” Spike smirked to Buffy’s annoyance.
“Don’t flatter yourself,” Buffy rolled her eyes. She walked into the crypt and sat on a chair cocking her head at Spike.
“Wanna kill stuff?” Buffy asked getting one of Spike’s trademark smirks,”It’s daylight love."
“You’d be surprised what you can kill during daylight,” Buffy explained coyly.
“How ‘bout I help you train,” he compromised, wanting to be alone with her.
“Kay,” Buffy agreed bouncily.
Holding the punching bag for Buffy, Spike watched as she scrunched her face in concentration, hitting it with so much force it would break a normal person’s hand.
As if in a trance, Spike watched Buffy fight as if it was for her life.
He was worried, she was working herself to hard, for over an hour she took no break and kept hitting.
“Love you need to stop,” Spike firmly told Buffy.
“No, have to beat Glory and save Dawn,” Buffy argued mechanically.
“Buffy your not alone, you don’t have to kill Glory all by yourself,” Spike soothingly told her, putting his arms on her shoulders.
“Your all you got,” Buffy quietly quoted what Whistler told her when she had to kill Angel.
It was true, he couldn’t deny it but he could be there for her then.
“‘s okay pet, I’m here,” Spike whispered letting her cry on his shoulder.
“Please don’t leave me,” Buffy choked out.
“Never,” Spike said wiping her tears away.
Buffy felt warm and loved, so she kissed Spike lovingly, he deepened the kiss until she pulled away reluctantly to breathe.
“I think I’m falling in love with you,” Buffy told Spike smiling. It wasn’t the three words he wanted to hear, but it was a step closer. “
Already fallen,” Spike replied.
When the sun set the vampire and slayer went out to patrol.
“It scares me how much I love this,” Spike called to Buffy before staking a fledgling. After killing all the demons the couple went to the Magic Box to tell the scoobies about there relationship status.
“They’re going to be angry, you know that,” Buffy said to Spike,” Especially Xander and Giles.”
“Harris and watcher, easy,” Spike proclaimed.
“Be nice to them, they are my best friends,” Buffy scolded.
“Love I’m not nice,” Spike protested.
“You’re nice to me,” Buffy smiled sweetly. “
You’re not nice either,” Spike defended grinning. Grabbing her waist, Spike pulled her to him and kissed her passionately, it would have gone on longer if Xander hadn’t yelled, “Get off her!”
Xander jerked Spike off of Buffy before punching him in the nose.
“Spike! Xander you idiot!” Buffy shouted going over to Spike.
“I’m the idiot! I wasn’t kissing an evil vampire!”
“That ‘evil vampire’ is my boyfriend!” Buffy shot back angrily, as she carefully examined Spike’s wound.
“What! Did Will put another spell on you?” Xander asked furiously at Buffy’s actions.
“It’s not a spell! I’m not doing this with you, let’s go inside with the others,” Buffy instructed daggers in her eyes.
Xander knew not to argue with Buffy then so he just nodded and followed Buffy and Spike into the Magic Box.
All the scoobies turned when Buffy came storming in with Spike and Xander close behind.
“Buffy are you okay?” Willow asked distressed at Buffy’s unhappiness. “
Oh I’m fine, Xander might not be soon but I’m just peachy,” Buffy answered venomously.
“What did you do,” Willow questioned Xander, her voice darkening.
“I saw dead boy locking lips with Buffy, so I did what any sane person would do, I punched him,” Xander explained defensively.
“Is that true Buffy,” Giles inquired quietly, all eyes turning to Buffy.
“Yes, the reason I came here was to tell my best friends Spike’s my boyfriend, and if you can’t accept it then you’re not my friends.” Buffy stated icily before turning around and walking out the door with Spike leaving a room full of stunned faces behind.
