A/N: I like this idea. I like this chapter and I have high hopes for this story. So please Read and Review. Oh and does anyone know where the title came from? I wonder... Maybe at a later time I could add it to my story.

The light from the police cars and ambulances flashed against the shadows on the alley walls. In those shadows a young woman hid. She shrunk closer away from the lights as she watched as they created an eerie feeling to the whole scene. She felt herself slowly fading and if it could be called a feeling she felt less real. She glanced around nervously wondering why she had blacked out and why she couldn’t remember anything.

“Slayer.” A voice whispered behind her and she turned slowly wondering why she would respond to that.

“Who are yyou?” she stuttered and stepped back from whoever had called to her, or she thought they had been speaking to her.

“Come with me.” The voice said and as if that was the barrier to what had made her forget everything she slowly started to remember. Her eyes widened and she turned to the cars and ambulances. Her vision bleared and as she closed her eyes she saw what happened.

She saw herself fighting a huge scaly demon with teeth that looked to be as big as her head. It had one eye and what looked like leather armor where the scales ended on its body. It growled as it lunged toward her and it knocked her on the ground.

She saw herself hit the ground and for a second she hesitated. Then she seemed to snap out of whatever had made her hesitate and she tried to get up. She failed. The demon had her pinned with its foot and she heard a bone crack. She winced just as she watched herself at that moment wince. It wasn’t because of the pain, or maybe a little bit, it was probably because of the fact that it had had a sick grin on its face as it listened to the bone crack.

The demon continued to smile as it reached into a sheath and pulled out a hideous looking knife. It raised it above its head and she screamed. She tried to run to stop it but she was powerless. “No.” she whispered feeling weak and hopeless. It then stabbed her and she remembered the pain and the dread. She had met her match, kicked the bucket, she had been done in. Then as if she had seen what she was meant to see, she felt herself coming back to the alley.

She opened her eyes and saw that a man was staring at her. He was quite handsome. He stepped forward and looked into her eyes. At that moment she knew who she was. She was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also started to realize what she was doing here. But she felt she should ask anyway.

“Am I dead?” she asked, looking around and seeing her body being lifted into a truck beside the ambulance.

The man searched her face. “Yes.” He said and her eyes widened. Dread and panic spread over her as he confirmed that she was no longer among the living. She hung her head if she could cry she would.
“But you won’t be.” She looked up and he once again met her eyes. She blinked and turned away seeing the ambulance and other vehicles seem to drive away. She wanted to run after them, they were leaving with her body in it. That scared her and she shivered.

Seeing that there was no kind of reaction from her he spoke again. “What I mean is that soon you will change all this.” He told her, he shifted his weight, if he had any she wasn’t sure if he was dead like her, and tried to meet her eye.

She took a deep breath, which she probably didn’t need, any but did anyway, and moved around a little. She wondered if she had to stay in the alleyway, that being the place she had died and everything. Being dead felt weird, eerie and uncomfortable.

“You’ll have to stay here for awhile thought.” He told her and this time she really paid attention, really looked at him. He had stubble on his chin and his eyes were dark and seemed to melt her. He had brown hair and wore a pull over and jeans as if he were going to get bagels on a Sunday morning. He looked so familiar, yet different. She couldn’t place where she knew him. She stopped staring and turned her attention back to what he was saying.

“Do I know you?” she asked and he shook his head as if he wanted to avoid that question more than anything. “Not now.” He said.

She nodded and he continued. “Stay in Sunnydale for a few days and try to relax…play ghost with Gi—.” he stopped as if he said something he shouldn’t have or didn’t want to say.

“You know Gi-?” Before she could finish he stopped her.

“Try to stay calm, I’ll be back.” He told her.

“Yeah sure…” she was about to say more when he once again interrupted her. He went forward as to kiss her on the forehead but realized what he was doing and walked away into the shadows. He didn’t even say goodbye.

“Great that was a lot of help, I never even got his name.” She mumbled and started to walk in the direction the ambulance and other vehicles had gone to.
