Note: The words to willows spell are in Italian, also Scott didn’t break up with Buffy, and she and Angel are officially over.
Disclaimer: I own nothing!

“I want to break up,” Scott said tonelessly. “What?” Buffy asked, shocked and hurt. “You’re really distant, maybe we can be friends.” “Friends!” Buffy thought, but all she said was, “Yeah maybe.”

After Scott dumped her things got worse and worse. First she spilled coffee all over herself, then she failed the pop quiz in history, and to top it off Giles gave horrible news at a Scooby meeting.

“Spike’s back,” Giles said, wishing his words weren’t true.
“No way, No way! He said he wouldn’t come back!” Buffy shouted upset.

“Uh Buff Spike’s not one to keep his promises,” Xander joked, leaning on a bookshelf in the library.

“Buffy is a something wrong?” Willow stammered meekly.
“Scott broke up with me,” Buffy said quietly, an edge to her voice.

“Well it’s about time,” Cordelia said bluntly as usual.

“Now Cordelia,” Giles scolded half heartedly knowing Cordelia would say whatever she wanted.

“Hey he was probably wondering where his girlfriend disappeared at night, oh yeah in the cemetery staking vampires!” Cordelia exclaimed, bored.

“Does anyone get the whole “Chosen one” thing! It means I didn’t get to choose!” Buffy yelled as she walked out into the cemetery.

“Vampire’s, I have one thing to say, bring it on!” Buffy shouted at the seemingly empty cemetery.

“Slayer a little cranky?” Spike’s annoyingly familiar voice rang.

“In fact, yes but it’ll make beating you up all the more fun!”

I’d like to see you bloody well try,” Spike challenged, trying not to laugh at the furious little slayer, that strangely made his undead heart beat faster.

“Gladly,” Buffy replied, her voice sweetly glazed. Buffy threw punch, after punch, but Spike would block just enough to make her eyes flare, and her anger rise.

Finally though, Buffy got the upper hand, stake at the ready, when Spike threw her off and ran away.

“Stupid, scaredy, vamp,” Buffy huffed, turning to go home, not noticing Spike smirking in the shadows while muttering, “hell sweet hell,” before going to follow her.
Buffy climbed the stairs to room, before collapsing on to her bed crying. She wasn’t crying because of Scott, she was crying because everything was so complicated.
Spike sat outside her window, watching his mortal enemy tremble and quiver like a scared child.
He didn’t know why but his gut wrenched at the sight of Buffy crying, “Bloody hell, soon I’ll feel bad if I hurt her!” Spike thought confused.
“Buffy, we have a problem!” Giles told Buffy in the halls at school.
“Hold on, I’ll meet you in the library,” Buffy calmly answered Giles, averting an apocalypse was all routine for her.

“So what’s the evil this time?” Oz asked, lounging on a chair in the library.
“A prophecy, Casilda is going to be awakened,” Giles said dramatically, seeing a room full of confused faces staring back at him.

“Who is going to what?” Buffy questioned, dumbstruck.

“Casilda was a powerful demon who reined for over a century. Her power was from the diamond of Vashti, which made her able to make armies bend to her will.” Giles explained gravely.

“What happened to her?” Willow asked.

“She was trapped into the very diamond that gave her power.”

“So if she’s trapped why do we care?” Buffy requested.

“Well the spell that bound her in the diamond is supposed to break, and set her free,” Giles replied books in hand.
“So how do we stop her?” Buffy asked impatiently.

“We need to find the diamond and curse it before another demon takes it,” Giles informed.

“Where is it?” Willow inquired.

“I don’t know exactly, we’ll need to find someone who knew Casilda.”

“Well where are we going to find someone who is over a century old, and hung out with evil demons?” Xander said sarcastically.

“There’s Spike,” Giles stammered at the expression on Buffy’s face.

“Oh no, it’s bad enough he’s back I’m not going to team up with the bleached bloodsucker again!” Buffy shouted angrily.

“He’s all we have,” Giles quietly tried to reason with Buffy.

“Fine but how are we going to get Spike to 1. Help us 2.Not kill us and 3.Get him here?”

“There’s a spell that will make him unable to show his demonic countenance.”

“Translated from Giles to Buffy means?”

“It means he can’t vamp out on us. I could do the spell!” Willow explained eagerly.

“So he can’t bite, he’s still strong,” Buffy said skeptically.

“That’s why will shoot him with a tranquilizer after Willow performs the spell,” Giles said matter of factly.

“Okay, I’ll do it,” Buffy reluctantly agreed.

“Giles do we have all the ingredients?” Willow asked Giles perkily.

“All but essence of Zenobia,” Giles explained.

“I’ll go down to the magic shop and get some,” Oz offered.

“I’ll go with you,” Willow agreed happily.

After Willow and Oz got back, Willow ground the ingredients together and scooped them into a bag.

“Let’s go,” Willow said as she, Buffy, and Xander walked out of the library towards the cemetery.

“How do you know he’ll be at this cemetery?” Willow asked relating to Sunndale having twelve . “

1.I can sense he’s here, 2.it’s the closest to the factory, and Spike’s not very creative when it comes to evil.” Buffy explained.

“I’ll tell you when, hide!” Buffy told Willow, positioning herself on a tombstone.

“Miss me much love?” Spike asked stepping out from the darkness.

“Not really,” Buffy replied wrinkling her nose at the thought.

“Okay insulting done let’s fight,” Buffy announced, cutting to the chase. Buffy kicked Spike, but held back.

Spike noticed Buffy’s lack of enthusiasm and noted on it, “That’s all you got Slayer?” That just made Buffy throw a vicious punch at Spike jaw.

“That’s my enemy,” Spike smirked at his power at making Buffy angry.

Eventually Buffy let Spike hold her down, his eye’s yellow, fangs inches from her neck, when she called,”Willow, now!”

Willow ran over to Buffy, and threw her mixture over Spike, and said, “Prenda il demon lo distruggono e lo fanno rimanere andato!”

Spike’s fangs receded, and his eye’s turned back to blue.

“Xander go!” Xander aimed and fired the tranquilizer at Spike’s arm. Spike was at the least surprised, as he fell on to the ground from the tranquilizer. Xander and Buffy picked up Spike and carried him back to the library.

“What are we supposed to do with him?” Willow asked Giles.

“Bloody hell,” Spike thought, struggling at the ropes that bound him before drifting off again.

“Buffy could Spike stay in your home?” Giles inquired hopefully.

“I got him here why do I have to play babysitter too?” Pouted Buffy, her hands curled into fists at her side.

“Please Buffy, if he stays with you, you can make sure he doesn’t cause any trouble,” Giles pleaded.

“Mom can barely deal with me, how is she going to handle a demon living in our house,” Buffy argued.

“Buffy, please,” Giles begged.

“Sure, whatever, dump the vicious killer on me,” Buffy yielded sarcastically.

“Hey fangface wakey wakey,” Buffy said shaking Spike.

“Think I’m vicious now do you pet,” Spike grinned as Buffy scowled.

“Let’s go,” Buffy replied coolly.
The walk home was awkward, neither Buffy nor Spike knew how to fill the spaces between insults without violence.

“Have I mentioned how much I hate this,” Buffy announced.

“About twenty times love,” Spike replied meeting her fiery glare with his own icy one.

“Just clarifying that although were stuck together, doesn’t mean our mutual hate of each other stops,” Buffy frostily answered. They continued on the way home in silence.

Buffy opened the door, walked in, and called,”Mom, I’m home.” She stepped into the kitchen, her face falling as she read the note on the counter.
“Had to work late, money for ordering food on table,” Buffy read, Spike catching a glimpse of pain in her eyes, before disappearing.

“If you want we can go by the butcher’s and get some blood,” Buffy offered trying to hide any hint of caring if Spike starving.

“No thanks I had a first grader this morning,” Spike replied a wicked grin forming on his face.

“You disgust me,” Buffy spat giving Spike a dirty look.

“Here’s a sleeping bag, there’s the basement,” Buffy sharply said, pointing to the stairs.

“Sorry love but, Passions is on,” Spike declined, flopping onto the couch.

“Okay you watch TV I’ll train,” Buffy agreed heading down to the basement. Spike turned on the television, and slunk down the stairs.

Buffy was attacking the punching bag, imagining it was Scott.
“Stupid, jerk,” Buffy shouted as she thrust her fist at the bag.
“Distant! It’s kind of hard to be close when your job is dusting demons,” Buffy muttered hitting the bag fiercely.
Coming up behind her Spike grabbed Buffy’s arms to stop the bag from splitting; Buffy flipped Spike on to the ground.
“Oh I’m sorry! You should know better then to sneak up on a slayer!” Buffy exclaimed distressed, without a trace of sarcasm as she knelt down besides him.

“I didn’t know you cared,” Spike said in a mock surprised voice, without letting on how pleased he was.

“In your dreams,” Buffy shot back rolling her eyes. “Have a fight with the punching bag now did we pet?”

“If you must know, Scott my boyfriend broke up with me,” Buffy answered, wiping the smirk off of Spike’s face in a flash.
“Oh,” Spike said before he could mask his grief.

“Why do you care anyway?” Buffy questioned, pulse accelerating.

“I don’t know,” Spike admitted softly, staring into her stunning green eyes.

There faces were inches apart, so close he could hear Buffy’s heart beat. Spike placed his hands over Buffy’s arms; pulling her closer to him.

Brushing away a stray lock of hair from her face, Spike leaned in and kissed Buffy tenderly. When they finally pulled away, both had a look of shock on their face.
