My computer has been funky and I haven't been feeling we...but anyway please read and review. I would like to know if this chapter is like a cliffhanger or something... Alright I'll let you get to the story! Enjoy!

Willow staked the vampire she had been struggling with. Lately vampires had gotten stronger and braver; it was as if they knew the Slayer’s anniversary of being missing was today. It was as if they were laughing at her, mocking her to say that her best friend was not coming home. It made her cranky. It gave her a certain feeling, like she wanted to fight. Like she was the Slayer. She just hoped that she was able to be strong enough to wait until the real Slayer came home.

Willow turned around toward the Summer’s house she had sent Dawn in. Willow hoped she was okay. She hated that the teenager had to go through something like this. Especially with all she had been through. Her sister had just died and had come back, and now she was missing. Not to mention that their Mother had just died.

She ran to the house as fast as she could, lately her intuition and perception had been very strong. Now, Willow sensed something was wrong. “Dawn?” she said as she pushed the door open.

“Dawnie?” she called again, walking inside. She looked around the house trying to see if there was anyone around (vampires or demons…she’d been doing that a lot since she’d found out things could pop out at you in the night) or if there was a sign of where Dawn might have gone.

Willow stepped in again, closing the door and locking it, another habit that had formed since she learned about demons and vampires. She stepped in again and whipped out a stake when a noise came from somewhere around her. She stepped back, and looked around trying to see if anyone was there. Maybe it was Dawn, or Angel. But when she glanced at the ground real quick she realized that a piece have crumpled up paper was on the floor. She picked it up slowly and realized that it was the cellophane window that usually told you the address and the name that had made the sound. She took a deep breath and looked at the envelope closer. It was from the Sunnydale Police Department. Willow felt a chill run down her spine. She remembered that her and Xander had gone there, desperate to find out where Buffy was. They had been no help but said they would look for her. For three years they had not said anything, not even called up, and now as she looked at this letter she wondered what it was all about. She was angry that they, three years later, decide to send something in the mail.

She clenched the envelope in her hand and walked into the living room where she saw Dawn sitting on the floor her eyes filled with tears, she too was clutching something in her hand.

“Dawnie, sweetie what’s wrong?” she said forgetting about the envelope and put it on the table near the entrance.

“They sent a letter…they said she’s…stupid letter” Dawn choked out, she was sobbing and choking out words and it seemed that that’s all she said.

“Who sent a letter?” Willow asked, dropping down to the floor beside Dawn and brushed her hair away from her face.

“The police…. and she’s not.” Dawn said staring into space.

“Who…she?” Willow said she had no idea what Dawn was talking about and she could tell the teen was upset.

“Stupid letter…. she’s not!” Dawn said and gripped whatever was in her hand.

“Dawn…”, Willow began and trailed off as Dawn continued to grip whatever was in her hand. “What’s that…the letter?” she asked wondering if this was what Dawn was so upset about. She took it from her as Dawn slowly released her grip.

The letter was torn and crumpled. Willow slowly began to un-crumple it as if it were millions of years old. When she was done she read it slowly her eyes widening and tears forming in her eyes.

“Oh Dawn of course she’s not.” Willow said and hugged the teenager who was now crying silently.

They hugged each other for a second until a loud boom came from the kitchen and both girls screamed.

Willow jumped up and ran into the kitchen whipping a stake out from her back pocket. Dawn followed close behind.

“What do you know!”, a voice boomed.

“Nothing!” Another voice said, practically pleading. “Nothing, I swear…I don’t know who she is.”

Willow saw two figures in the room, one was a bleached blond vampire with a stake in his hand and the other was a short vampire that looked as if he was a newbie.

“You bleeding know who she is…now what do you know!” The blond vamp said in a cockney tone.

“Please…don’t.” The other pleaded, as the stake dug into his chest. Soon after though, he was dust.

“Spike”, Willow said turning on the kitchen light. “What’s going on…how’d he get in?”

“The spells faltering willow.” Spike responded as he turned to her. “I heard someone in….” He trailed off as he saw Dawn and her tear streaked face. “What happened?” he asked concerned.

“We’ll tell you later.” Willow told him. “What happened, who heard who…?” Willow asked.

“I think someone was in Buffy’s room.” Spike said.
“Buffy?” Dawn sniffled and wiped her cheeks.

Willow looked at Dawn and then again at Spike. “Dawn, maybe you should go get some rest. We can talk to Angel tomorrow.”

Dawn nodded and turned around and both, Willow and Spike were silent until they heard that she was all the way upstairs.

Willow leaded Spike into the hallway and then opened the door that lead down into the basement. Willow flipped on the light as they walked down the stairs. The once-basement was now Slayer central…but since the Slayer was not here the Scoobies used it instead. There was a computer as you walked down the stairs and a couch that had a pull out where either Angel or Spike slept. The windows were boarded up, due to all of the sun and the breaking and entering. When she got to the middle of the small room she turned on another light and Spike turned off the first.

Willow sat down on the couch; she glanced around at the room. Angel and Spike even Xander had helped make the basement feel like the old library and Giles’s house and even the Magic Box combined. Of course it wasn’t as big and it didn’t feel like home, as did Giles’s house and the library did. It had that lost feeling, like without the Slayer it was nothing. But Angel and Spike made it their training area and they stored weapons. They all realized, once the police started investigating and coming around, that they needed to hide some stuff. Willow also felt sometimes that she could come down here, if she ever needed to think or even attempt to punch the punching bag.

Spike stood and watched her closely. “Rough day? Want to talk about it?”

Willow almost smiled she remembered when Xander had been bartender guy and been rehearsing on Buffy and Willow to play the caring solve-your-problems bartender. She frowned and put her hand through her hair. “Well…its just.” She sighed, realizing she was tired.

“Dawn found a letter from the police.” Willow looked up at Spike and he nodded.

“What they want?” he asked.

“It just said that they presume Buffy…dead.” Willow said and looked in to Spikes eyes. He flinched as she finished and she felt bad for him…but then pushed those thoughts aside and focused on what was right in front of her now. “Dawn got upset.”

Spike nodded. “I’ll talk to her later…anything else?”

“Sort of…its kind of weird, I can’t explain.” She once again sighed and then got up. “Why don’t you tell me what that was about?”

Spike nodded and then sighed. “I think we are being watched.”
