Le Garde D’âme
Buffy saw the seriousness in Spikes eyes, she had to get this mystery girl out of Spikes sight. “Come on with me please.” She said as she reached out for the girl. The girl took Buffys hand and followed her towards the door.
“Do not think this is the end of it Mon Cher, it is actually the beginning.” She said as she walked out the door. “By the by William, my name is soleil.”
“HA!” Spike yelled out to Buffy, “See she is evil, just to hear her name tells you she is no good.”
Buffy and Soleil walked on ignoring spike and his rants, but Buffy was curious about what Spike meant about Soleil being evil. She knew she had heard that name before.
“So Soleil? What did Spike mean by your name being evil?” Buffy asked.
“Soleil, it means Sun in French, my mother thought I was the brightest star in the sky, and she said I was also fat, so I had to be the brightest and biggest star in the sky.” Solely replied, her voice changed back to the melodious tune that Buffy had remembered.
“Well, I can tell these things, and you’re not evil at all. Trust me, I had this room mate once, and she was evil.” Buffy told her remembering Kathy, the real evil, “Agggghhhh, I still get goose bumps thinking about it. Well you can come to my dorm, stay with me and you can get cleaned up and borrow some of my clothes. I’m sure Willow won’t mind.”
Buffys mind was racing with questions she wanted to ask, What is she, she is dead, walking around, yet she isn’t a vampire, she seems to be good. Why is she here, and most of all why is she so hateful towards Spike. Not that I blame her she thought, I haven’t met anyone who likes Spike, unless they were crazy. Jeez even Angel didn’t like Spike when he didn’t have a soul.
“So, can I ask? What is it about Spike that you loathe so much? I mean don’t get me wrong, I don’t like the guy either, but you seem to really really hate him.”
“Lets just say that there is a past between us, I would rather not talk about it until I speak to l’abruti about it.” She replied
“I’m guessing l’abruti is Spike, and that is not a nice word you called him.” Buffy was starting to like this girl, dead or not. She made Buffy feel at ease, and somewhat happy, and secondly she didn’t like Spike.
Buffy and Soleil reached Buffys dorm, Willow was at her desk reading a book. “Will, I brought someone with me, I hope you don’t mind if she stays with us for a while.” Buffy said to her friend.
Willow immediately felt Soleil when she walked in the room, she felt a bit of peace for the first time since Oz left. She knew this was no ordinary girl, she could feel power, and was a little jealous but all the love that radiated from her replaced the jealousy feeling. She noticed her eyes first, the bright violet color that was like a beacon with her copper colored skin. She was unusual, and truly beautiful, she looked exotic with her almond shaped eyes, even with all the dirt and grim that covered her clothes and skin. “Ummm Hi, I’m Willow.” She said standing up and putting out her hand. “And yeah, sure you can stay here for a while.”
Soleil curtsied, “I am Soleil, it is a pleasure to meet someone with the powers that you have.”
Willow stood there confused, and a bit worried. “If you could excuse us, I really need to talk to Buffy for a moment.”
Buffy was at her closet getting some clothes for Soleil, “How bout I take you to the showers Soleil, you can get cleaned up and Willow and I will find you some food while you get cleaned up. Here are some clothes considering yours are in rags and filthy now.”
“Oh, Yeah, I’m so sorry I didn’t even think. Being clean good, being dirty bad.” Willow stammered, she felt so embarrassed that she didn’t suggest a shower, and she felt as if she was being rude.
Buffy came back into the room after showing Soleil to the showers, Willow was on the bed with a book in her hand, this time it wasn’t a text book, it was one that looked old and more of Giles style books than anything.
“So, what’s the story Will, I mean didn’t you feel her, the energy that poured from her, she can’t be evil…. Can she??” Buffy asked now a little bit fearful she did the wrong thing by taking Soleil in.
“Well… What do we know about her, who is she Buffy? She seems nice enough, but she kinda gave me the wiggies with the whole ‘the powers that you have’ thing. That’s kinda strange isn’t it, she doesn’t know I’m a witch, but she does, plus I don’t have that great of powers. She came in here and I felt all ‘ I am finally free’ and stuff. Oh Oh and what about all the demon stuff that happens around here, and…”
“Will, your rambling. I don’t know what she is, she seems to be dead, and she fell through Spikes roof yet she isn’t cut up bruised or broken. Even vampires get hurt, so what is she?? And you should have seen what she did to Spike; his emotions were running through the roof, no fun intended there. Maybe I should go to Giles, he’s the one that knows all about this stuff.” Buffy said putting on her jacket.
“I will try to get as much info as I can out of her while your gone, maybe she will tell me something of importance.”
“Thanks Will.” Buffy said as she closed the door behind her.
