Part Ten
Buffy and Faith walked home from Willow’s house in disappointment.
“Where do you think everyone is? It’s not like them to go out and not call us,” said Buffy.
Faith snorted, “Willow’s mom doesn’t know anything about her anyway. Why are we listening to her, I mean Will could be upstairs and she wouldn’t even know.”
“True, the woman is so out of it sometimes,” Buffy jumped as her cell vibrated, “I’m vibrating.”
“You do that whenever Angel’s around anyway,” smirked Faith.
Buffy flipped her the finger as she answered her phone, “Hello.”
“Hey baby, where are you?”
“ANGEL!!!” squeaked Buffy as Faith rolled her eyes, “Faith and I are heading home.”
“No don’t go home; Spike, Dru, Lindsey, and I are at the Bronze. Come meet us.”
“Kay, we’ll see you in a few minutes.”
Buffy hung up the phone and looked at Faith, who was staring at her intently.
“We’re meeting everyone at the Bronze”
Faith threw her hands up in frustration, “I wanna go home B!! I’m tired and amazingly I actually care that I have a Chem. 2 test tomorrow.”
Buffy pouted, “Five minutes please,” Faith started walking away with Buffy running after her, “Ten tops!”
Buffy grabbed Faith’s shoulder and forced her to turn around, “Ten minutes top, I promise.”
Faith looked her pointedly in the eyes, “Ten minutes then I’m heading home.”
They turned down Main Street and headed towards the Bronze. There wasn’t anyone else walking near the place and no teenagers could be found walking around even though it was only eight.
Faith stopped just short of the door, “Something feels off about this.”
Buffy just kept walking and opened the door, “We’ll deal, I mean we always…”
Both girls walked into a pitch black room and froze.
“Um, B I told you something was wrong.”
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUFFY AND FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The lights sprang to life and everyone screamed, including Buffy while Faith jumped backwards about five feet.
“JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Faith.
The music started playing and people moved to the dance floor.
Rupert walked forward, “Language Faith.”
“Daddy, what’s going on?” asked Buffy.
“Actually you have to thank your friends for this; they set the whole party up,” Rupert looked around, “They did really well actually and I will let you both enjoy this since I believe your mother is looking for me.”
Willow ran up to them giggling and acting like she drank to much coffee, “Happy 19th! Isn’t this exciting? Pretty much everyone from school came and they brought food and presents and and…”
“How much coffee did you have Wills?” asked Xander as he and Cordy walked towards the twins.
“None actually,” answered Oz as he sidled up to Willow’s side, “She’s just super happy.”
Willow nodded her agreement and grabbed Buffy and Faith’s hands and dragged them over to a giant table that was littered with birthday cards and some presents. The best part was the three-story cake that sat in the middle of the table.
“Isn’t this great? People brought cards and gifts and stuff,” rambled Willow.
“Relax Red, I think they can figure out that everyone brought something,” teased Spike.
Dru tapped his arm and gave Spike a ‘behave yourself’ look then turned to the twins, “We decided that we’ll give you are presents tomorrow when all the others have been opened.”
Buffy looked around at everyone having fun and had to bite back a laugh at Cordy trying to teach Xander how to dance. Faith was doing the same thing except she was trying not to laugh at her parents trying to dance.
Willow was hopping back and forth from one foot to the other when Faith leveled her with a deadpan stare, “You apparently have something to say Will so say it already.”
“Uh, well it’s more written then actually saying anything,” she shoved two pieces of paper into each of their hands, “I already told Jenny that I’ve having a birthday sleepover so she thinks you guys will be at my place. So… um… okay have fun.”
Willow and Oz disappeared into the crowd and the twins contemplated what was just said. Buffy walked over to the nearest chair and sat down to read her note.
Dearest Buffy,
I hope you like the party but I am most unfortunately going to have to drag you away from it all. Willow and Cordelia set the whole thing up anyway. As of right now I don’t care what you’re wearing or what you look like but you are going to walk out the side exit by the bar right now so I can give you your birthday present.
Always,
Angel
Buffy slowly stood up and walked toward the side door making sure her parents didn’t see her leave.
Faith watched Buffy sat down to read her own note. Realizing who it was from how Buffy was acting she slowly began to read what Lindsey wrote.
Hey Babe,
I’m really not that good with words and stuff so I pretty much want to say that the Bronze party was Willow and Cordy’s idea so I had nothing to do with it. The main thing I want you to do is to walk out the back door of the Bronze so I can give you your present. Try not to let your parents see you since that would ruin everything.
Love ya,
Lindsey
Faith didn’t even think twice when she headed for the back door of the Bronze to meet Lindsey.
