"Oh, God," Buffy whispered, her voice catching in her throat at the sight of her friends' mutilated bodies. Willow, Tara, and Anya seemed okay, just knocked out. Giles, on the other hand sported a nasty, deep-looking gash on his forehead, and Xander...Buffy couldn't form words for what happened to her best friend. "What did you do? My God, what did you do?!" She tugged at the chains, enraged.
"Calm down, lover," Angelus replied casually, enjoying the pain in her eyes. "Let's just say, he made one too many 'Deadboy' cracks."
"I'll crack your skull in two, you sadistic bastard," Buffy snapped, tears clouding her vision.
"Promises, promises."
"The minute I get out of these chains, I will hurt you," the Slayer promised. "I will make you pay. You're just some twisted mockery of Angel, and for that alone, I can't let you live."
"You can't let me live, lover? Look around. I'm in charge here. You're the one in chains. And might I say, bondage looks good on you, Buff. Speaking of which, how 'bout we get to the show, huh?" He cast a wicked glance at Spike, who was also struggling to break free of his bonds.
"Mmmm," Drusilla murmured. "The clouds are whispering. They're all fluffy and floaty..."
"That's nice, Dru."
"They're telling me things," she added in a conspiratorial whisper.
"They tell you that you're a thundering loony?" Buffy quipped.
"They tell me...mmmm," she moaned, swaying across the room. Her eyes locked on Willow and the others. "He rises."
"Who-?" It was then that she noticed that Xander's corpse was missing.
