(So Paige shared a room with Dawn, Xander had an extra bed and they arranged Dawn’s room so they could fit the new bed. Dawn and Paige split everything in half i.e. the bureau and closet. Buffy “convinced” the watchers council that Paige was innocent and to stop trying to kill her or else. The Council swore it was all a misunderstanding and left Sunnydale in a hurry. Willow was working on getting Paige’s old grades and transcripts so she can transfer her to Sunnydale High. Otherwise life was going on like normal…well as normal as a vampire slayers life can be.)
Paige was in the cemetery with a stake ready in her hand. Since she wasn’t attending school she had nothing better to do then go out on patrols. She stayed out late and slept till late, any teenagers happiest dream.
“It’s way to quiet, where are all the vampires?” She thought aloud looking around at the quiet cemetery.
“New blood?” Paige heard from behind her, she turned around and saw a blonde woman.
“And you are…?” Paige said wondering who would be in the middle of a cemetery at night, *besides me of course*.
“They haven’t told you about me.” The woman said, walking over to Paige, now standing barely 5 feet from her. “You guys must not be very close. I would think they would have warned you about me.”
“Warn me about *you*?” Paige repeated while looking this woman up and down, she didn’t look very threatening, especially in her high heels. Paige Racked her brain for a name, the Scoobies told her they needed help with a demon or something, but that was it, no names or anything.
The woman noticed the confused look on her face. She couldn’t help but laugh. “So, if they didn’t even tell you about *me*, I’m seriously doubting you know anything about *my* Key. So if you don’t know anything about… Anything really, then I don’t need to keep you alive.”
“You’re very confident. What makes you think…?” Paige started but just then the blonde woman gave her an uppercut punch right to the face, It hit Paige so hard it send her flying back several feet until she finally came down on the ground.
Paige’s face was throbbing, she never expected that. She looked at this woman, she didn’t look like a vampire, and Paige had never heard of a demon looking like that.
“Well we haven’t been properly introduced, I’m Glory, the one about to turn you face into a Picasso.” The woman said walking over, as Paige stood up readying herself in fight mode.
Paige took a swing at Glory. Glory was too busy thinking of the next insult. She hit Glory hard in the side of the face, knocking her backwards. Glory was surprised.
Paige stepped up taking another swing at Glory but she blocked it and threw a punch hitting her in the cheek knocking Paige back again. Glory grabbed Paige by the shirt and punched her in the face again.
“See look we’re almost there.” Glory said obviously talking about her Picasso insult.
Paige knew she wasn’t going to win, she was getting her ass kicked, every punch or kick she went to throw, Glory seemed to know they were coming and threw a counter attack.
Paige took a look around, every thought in her head was telling her to run. Paige got up off the cemetery grass and ran as fast as she could from the Summers’ house.
Glory laughed, she went to follow but then she got a headache. “You’re lucky dear.” And she headed in the direction of The Bronze looking for an easier prey.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Paige finally reached the Summers’ doorstep.)
She opened the door and looked around. Thankfully, no one was up, she wasn’t in the mood to explain this story. She was also furious, they never told her anything, about the key, about Glory.
She headed to the bathroom. Her face was pretty mangled, there was a cut right about her eye, blood was dripping down her cheek, and her cheek was already red and underneath her eye was already turning a deep purple.
Paige reached her hand to her face. The pain made her cringe. She opened the cupboard looking for the antiseptic. She couldn’t find any. She turned to the door.
“Here.” Buffy said tossing her a bottle of antiseptic and a white towel.
“Oh, Thanks.” Paige said looking away tending to her cut.
Buffy leaned against the doorway wall, watching Paige tend to her wounds. “So, what happened?”
“Glory something. Looking for her key.” Paige said anger in her voice.
Buffy stood up straight now looking worried. “You alright!?”
“I’m awesome. It would have been great to know who she was before she kicked my ass, Don’t ya think?” Paige said still angry.
“What are you talking about?” Buffy said looking at Paige confused.
“You haven’t told me anything about Glory, and her stupid key, if you want me to help out here maybe you could FILL ME IN!” Paige said almost screaming at the top of her lungs.
“You could have asked.” Buffy said keeping her cool.
“How can I ask about something I know nothing about?” Paige said turning her attention back to her face, now putting on a bandage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Willow, Tara, Anya, Xander and Giles were at the magic shop, Willow was at her computer still working on getting Paige’s grades and transcripts and still researching. Giles was reading a book. Buffy walked in followed by Dawn and then Paige)
The gang all looked up as the Magic Shop’s door bell rang.
“What happened to you?” Xander said looking a Paige’s swelling purple face.
Paige still hadn’t cooled off she wasn’t in the mood to talk. “Glory.” She said slowly sitting down in the booth across from Willow at her computer.
Everyone looked up at her; Paige had no choice but to tell the story to get them to take their eyes off her.
“So… how come…” Xander said trying to think of a gentle way to say it.
“She got her ass kicked?” Buffy said a half second later, looking over at Paige. Paige looked down, her pride was scarred.
“Glory was going for the kill.” Giles said now taking his attention off his book. Giles stood up.
“So all this time she’s fought, she’s been… holding back?” Buffy said. “Why would she do that?” Buffy turned to face Giles.
“The key, you know, if she kills us, there’s no way for her to find…it” Giles said loosely. “She must have known that Paige did not know where the key was. So Glory has no reason to let her live.”
“So if Glory and Paige come face to face again, Paige could easily be…” Anya thought aloud.
“Well I’m happy you guys all have confidence in my ability to fight.” Paige said completely uncomfortable.
Everyone turned their attention to the young slayer who was now glaring at Anya.
“How of that slayer training ness have you actually had?” Anya asked, she hadn’t noticed the glare Paige was giving.
“…What?” Paige said still looking at Anya.
“Well it says there that your family and friends were killed the day after you were called to be a slayer, and you’ve basically been on top of the lamb ever since, so when did you train, you know like Buffy does?” Anya said. Giles looked at her; Anya was making a good point.
“Umm… I never did… What does that have to do with anything?” Paige asked getting defensive and the mentioning of her family didn’t help matters.
“So you don’t know how to fight?” Buffy said looking at Paige, Buffy was getting frustrated.
“I know how to fight!” Paige said defending herself.
“We have to start training immediately. If you have to face Glory again you need to be prepared.” Giles said. He was kind of excited to be needed as a watcher again.
Paige didn’t say anything.
“Buffy.” Giles said. “We need to get the training weapons from my house.” With that Giles and Buffy headed out the door and left for Giles’s house.
Paige looked around; everyone was purposely avoiding her eyes. She needed to break this awkward silence. “So what’s with this key thing?” Paige said wanting some information.
No one said anything.
“Hey, if I’m supposed to help out around here I want to be informed!” Paige said. “What does it do?”
“Hell Dimension.” Anya said pretending to be paying attention to some paper on the counter.
Paige turned to face Anya. “What?”
This time Willow answered. “Glory wants to get back to her own Hell Dimension, and the Key opens a door for her to get there.”
Paige paused for a second thinking. “So… Why don’t you just destroy it?” The answer was so easy Paige thought.
“It’s not that easy.” Willow said shooting a look at Dawn who was now shifting uncomfortably in her chair pretending to not be listening to the conversation.
“Sure it is.” Paige said. “It’s a no brainer, if someone evil wants it; odds are it has no good purpose anyway. Just tell me where it is. I’ll get rid of it.”
Xander stood up, Paige could see in his eyes he was angry but she didn’t understand why. “It’s not that simple!” He shouted. “You can’t just go around killing people.”
“I’m not…” Paige started almost instantly. “People?” She repeated. “The key…It’s human.” Paige realized finally understanding why Xander got so angry.
“Human, huh?” Glory said from behind Paige. Paige turned quickly to see Glory standing behind her with Dawn’s neck in her grasp.
