Chapter Six: He's dead?
"What the hell happened in here?" Buffy asked even though no one knew the true answer to that question.
"I don't know...but God...oh..." Fait just stared at the scene before her.
"I know he didn't kill himself...but who did?"
"I have no idea Buffy. Poor guy. I thought he was cool for trying to kill Spike." Xander piped up.
Buffy glared at him and Xander just smiled.
"It looks like a murder happened in here." Williow didn't like all of the blood there was.
Just then a light flashed before them and Buffy's mom appeared. She smiled and looked down at Principle Wood. Then she frowned at looked up at Buffy and the others.
"Well, well. Poor thing. It must be pretty bad to be dead. I should know. I've been there." She continued to smile.
"What are you doing here?" Buffy asked thinking it was a dream again.
"Just checking up on you and your friends. You guys are so confused. I just love it. So confused..." She laguhed. "Laughing is always so good for the soul. You never did do too much of that, Buffy. It's a shame."
Buffy just stared at her mother. She hoped it was a dream again. She prayed it was a dream again. However, she knew that the truth was that is was real. Her mother, or something pretending to be her mother, had just killed Principle Wood. What was happening.
"Hi, Joyce. Nice to see you. You're killing people now?" Faith asked.
"Oh, yes. I find it quite thrilling. I live for the kill. I think you know what I'm talking about." Buffy's mother smiled.
"That's the old me. I'm changed, really."
"That's what they all say."
"How...why did you kill Principle Wood?" Buffy asked.
"Still calling him 'Principle Wood.' He as a first name you know, Buffy. Robin." Her mother frowned. "I'm so dissapointed with you. Forgetting those manners that I thought I taught you."
"You're not my mother."
"Oh, really? The last time I checked I was."
"Just answer me! How did you kill Robin?"
"There's my girl. I knew those manners where in you some where. Now say please."
"You've got to be kidding me. Just answer the question."
"He was weak and alone. Mourning the loss of his own mother. She was a slayer, am I right?"
"Yes. How did you kill him? Why did you kill him?"
"He was weak and alone. I also just wanted to send you a message. A real one. I was sick of the whole dream thing. You were getting the message, but your friends weren't. They wouldn't believe you, so I decided that I would pay a little visit to you."
"Really?"
"Yes, really. I am truly here, Buffy." Her mother walked up to her and stroked her hair. "I always hate it when you let those tiny little pieces get in your eyes." Her mother then punched her. A punch so hard that it sent Buffy flying across the room. She hit the wall hard and landed on the floor. She didn't move.
"What did you do to her?" Willow asked.
"Save it, witch. You wouldn't dare use any spells on me." Buffy's mother taunted.
"You want to bet?"
"It's okay, Willow. She's just trying to make you upset." Kennedy put her hand on Willow's shoulder.
Just then Fred, Gunn, and Wesley walked into the room. When they saw what was going on their jaws droped. They had come upstairs to see what all of the comotion was and were astonished to see what they saw.
"Sorry to barge in on you like this. We just wanted to see what was going on." Wesley explained. "What is Mrs. Summers doing here?"
"Long story. Not really even sure myself of how it goes." Giles replied.
"Great. More company." Buffy's mother sighed. "I should really get going. Tell Buffy when she wakes up that I said good night." And just as fast as she had come, Buffy's mother was gone in a flash.
"Okay, call me crazy, but I have no idea what is going on." Lorne had walked into the room. Fred, Wesley, and Gunn were the only ones who turned to him.
"Hey. Were've you been?" Fred asked.
"Oh you know, just out and about. Did a massacre happen while I was out?"
"Not exactly. Not sure what happened." Gunn replied.
"Yes. It appears there is a new evil in town." Wesley added.
"Oh goody. Just when you beat one another has to rise. Looks like we'll never get any rest."
Faith stared at Lorne for a few seconds. "Who's this guy?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that there were so many people in this room that didn't know me. I'm Lorne." Lorne reached out to shake Faith's hand. Faith just continued to stare at him.
"Faith." She replied.
"It's nice to meet you."
"Yeah, whatever."
"So, was that lady Buffy's mom?" Fred asked.
"Yes." Buffy slowly got up. "I mean my mom looks like that, but it really wasn't her. It couldn't be here. Some evil thing must be playing dress up." Buffy explained.
"So, what kind of demon ass are we gonna start kicking?" Gunn asked.
"Don't know yet. Don't even know if there's even a demon to kill."
"Why don't we go back downstairs. Will someone take care of that body? It's quite disturbing." Giles turned around and went downstairs. Everyone follwed, but Buffy, Faith, and Andrew.
"Looks like we've got to burry him." Buffy sighed as she turned him over.
"You go do that, B. I'm gonna go catch up with the others. Burrying dead guys, just isn't my thing. Looks like he's never going to show me that suprise." Faith turned to walk out of the room.
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing. Just some unresolved issue Robin and I had. It's okay though. I'm leaving now." Faith walked down the hall and out of sight.
Buffy turned around and got ready to take Wood out and burry him. It brought back too many memories of burrying the potentials. She had to burry a few of them once and she didn't enjoy it. However, she was really the only one who would.
"What are you still doing here?" Buffy asked looking at Andrew.
"I thought that I'd help." Andrew replied.
"With what?"
"The dead guy."
"Oh. I can handle it myself. Really. I got it."
"No. I insist. Let me help you."
"Whatever. I really don't fell like arguing with you."
"Yay."
Buffy rolled her eyes and lifted Robin's feet up as Andrew lifted his arms. They slowly carried him out into the hall and down the stairs. Angel held to door open for them as they headed outside. They walked around into the back of the Hyperion and lowered him.
"You stay here. I need to um...go get a shovel." Buffy took one last look at Robin and then went back inside to get a shovel. Angel was standing at the door with one. She smiled at him. "Thanks. Just what I was looking for."
"Let's just say I read your mind." Angel replied.
"Phychic are we?"
"Not really. I just pretend to be sometimes. Anyway, don't you have a body to burry?"
"Yeah. And a kid named Andrew to deal with."
"Have fun."
"Oh, I will." Buffy turned around and walked back to where she had left Robin Wood. In about ten minutes she dug a nice sized hole for him. She put her shovel down and Andrew helped her lower him down into the hole. She then took the excess dirt and burried him.
