Part Nine
“We’re going to do what we’ve always done,” said Rupert, “I’ll call our friends from the FBI and talk to them but other then that everything will remain the same.”
“So now that it’s been decided that we’re not moving and it is now almost four in the morning everyone go back to bed for another hour or two and then we’ll all have breakfast,” said Jenny
Rupert and Jenny headed back upstairs and the gang in the living room settled down for a few more hours of sleep. After about five minutes Buffy and Faith, making sure that everyone else was asleep; they got up and headed out back to sit on the deck.
“What do we do now sis?” asked Faith.
“I don’t know Faithy, I really don’t know,” said Buffy with a sob, “We can’t live like this forever and I don’t want to leave Sunnydale. I really like it here and here I’m happy, I have Angel and you have Lindsey and we may have finally found where we belong in this fucked up world of ours.”
“I know what you mean sis; I don’t want to go either. I love it here and everyone is really great, which I find utterly surprising in such a small town,” Faith looked up at rising sun, “I won’t let that asshole destroy our lives again B, I’ll kill him if he does.”
“Now that would be just wrong Faith, where would I be if I didn’t have you to make fun of everything I do or if you weren’t there to make fun of Angel and me doing something when you and Lindsey were off doing the exact same thing,” teased Buffy.
“Lindsey and I are none of your business big sis and when it does become your business I’ll let you know.”
The two girls sat in perfect silence and finished watching the sun come up in the eastern sky now decorated with reds, oranges, and yellows. The birds in the trees woke slowly and began to wake others with their morning songs of joy. The peace was nearly shattered when someone placed a hand on Faith’s shoulder and she pulled a knife out of her sleeve. Faith stopped just short of stabbing Lindsey in the gut.
“JESUS CHRIST FAITH!!! Where the hell did you get that knife?” asked a panic and pale-faced Lindsey.
An unembarrassed Faith put the knife back into the hidden sheath strapped to her wrist, “You scared me and it’s a natural reaction.”
“A natural reaction? I very much doubt that Faith,” Angel smirked as he sat down beside Buffy and pulled her into his arms, “You don’t see Buffy with hidden knives on her.”
Buffy looked at the ground at her feet, “Actually I have two on me right now.”
Lindsey and Angel looked in surprise at Buffy, who only wore a pair of sweats and a gray wife beater, while Faith laughed.
“See I only got the one and she’s packing two.”
Lindsey sat down next to Faith and looked at Buffy, “Where exactly are you hiding TWO knives?”
“There’s one strapped to my right calf and one in the small of my back. It’s a really bad habit that we picked up in New York, protect yourself at all times.”
Angel shook his head, “My girlfriend knows how to use knives, that’s just wonderful.”
Buffy bit her bottom lip, “If it helps any, I hate using them. They make me feel like I can’t take care of myself.”
“Why the hell are we all out here at six in the morning,” yawned Spike as they rest of the group walked onto the deck.
“We were watching the sunrise dummy, what’s it look like?” asked Faith.
Everyone sat down on either the picnic table or on the patio furniture. Buffy and Faith looked at each other silently and then Faith sighed.
“You know you want to ask so just ask already.”
Cordelia looked at the ground, “Are you scared of what could happen?”
Faith sighed, “Of course, but we refuse to give up our life here just because some ass thinks he can change everything we’ve worked for in the last nine years.”
“This place has been so great for the two of us. We love it here; the place is perfect for two hard asses from New York City,” smirked Buffy.
Everyone laughed at that and even Oz managed to crack a smile.
“Don’t you kids sleep at all?” asked Rupert as he walked onto the deck.
Faith smiled at her father, “Naw, we believe in using all twenty-four hours in a day.”
Rupert shook his head, “Come on, Jenny’s making French toast for everyone.”
