Angel and Buffy walked over to Willy’s to try to get some info. “Can I comment on the weirdness that is me?” Angel said, walking alongside Buffy in the morning light. “Well, it is strange,” Buffy commented. People, mostly men, kept staring at Buffy and Angel. Buffy had to admit that Angel made a very good looking girl. He was tall, with long legs, glossy, waist-length, pitch-black hair, and chocolate brown eyes. Buffy wasn’t really surprised by all the stares they were getting. “I now understand why Xander now looks like Halle Berry. I’m tempted to do the same thing,” Angel said, exasperated. “Don’t you dare!” Buffy said, “I will help you figure something out, as soon as we are done at Willy’s. But I will not have you looking like Xander.”
They stepped inside, and found Willy behind the bar. “Slayer,” Willy said loudly, “And who’s your friend?” “Don’t worry about her. I need to know if you’ve had any unfamiliar faces in here lately,” Buffy said. “Well, there was this one guy. English, I think. Said that he’d just come out of some military place that someone thought would rehabilitate him. Said he wanted retribution. That’s all,” Willy said. “Thanks, you’ve been a great help,” Buffy said. As she and Angel left, Angel knew that Willy was watching his butt.
Willow, Dawn, Spike, Riley, and Sam were all deep in research mode when Angel and Buffy returned an hour later, after a trip to the salon. Xander and Tara were helping Giles stock the shelves. Angel noticed that Spike and Riley has also gone the route of shorter hair. Where Angel had just taken his hair up to his armpits, Riley had taken it up to his shoulders, and Spike had taken it all the way up to just below his ears. Giles was the only one who had kept the long hair, which was now hanging down his back in a thick braid.
“So, what do we know?” Buffy asked. “Well, besides the fact that Giles has a boyfriend, we think we know what spell was used,” Xander said with a grin. “Wait, Giles has a boyfriend?” Angel said, chuckling. “There’s this young boy who comes in all the time. Apparently, he found my current appearance quite appealing,” Giles said. “Well duh! Have you looked in a mirror lately? You’re very much the hottie,” Dawn said with a smile. Everyone laughed as Giles blushed.
“Well, from the info we got from Willy, I know who did the spell. Do we all remember an Englishman who was put in a military facility for ‘rehabilitation?’ Well, he’s out, and wants retribution,” Buffy said. “Ethan Rayne,” Giles said grimly. “You mean that guy the Initiative took into custody after he turned Giles into demon?” Riley asked. “That would be the guy,” Buffy said. “Wow, he’s pretty angry,” Xander said. “Well, what can we do to fix this?” Spike said. “Find him, and get him to remove the spell. Otherwise, it’ll be permanent,” the ga ng turned to the entrance of the Magic Box and saw the last person they ever expected to see in Sunnydale, standing before them.
Wesley sat and stared at the ten girls in front of him. What amazed him was that five of these girls used to be guys. “Now, let me get this straight,” Wesley said, “Ethan Rayne was captured by a demon hunting military group called the Initiative, and you helped put him there. Now that he’s been released, he wants revenge.” Everyone nodded. “That’s about it in a nutshell,” Giles said. “Why are you here?” Angel asked. “Well, Angel, right? I’m here because Cordelia had a vision, and it took place here,” Wesley said.
Suddenly, the door to the Magic Box opened, and Trent came in. Tara bit back another giggle, and Giles groaned. “Jill, hey, I wanted to ask you a question,” Trent said, “I wanted to know if maybe you’d want to go out tonight, maybe go to a movie or something.” Giles gave Wesley a pleading look. “I’m sorry, but as Jill’s father, I cannot let you take her out. We are only here for a short period of time. All her friends here have already shown her around Sunnydale,” Wesley said. Trent nodded, and quietly left the shop. After he left, the gang began to laugh. “Thank you Wesley. I don’t think I would’ve been able to do that,” Giles said. “All I can say is that you owe me one,” Wesley said. The gang just laughed harder.
Later that night, all the ‘girls’ sat in the living room, bonding. “Man, I don’t know how girls do it,” Xander said, “I mean, if I had to walk around all the time in heels, I’d be pretty cranky.” “I kept getting whistled at and yelled at,” Riley said. “Tell me about it,” Spike said, “I went to get some lunch, and the guy at the counter kept flirting with me, and trying to ask me out.” While everyone had broken off into smaller conversations, Riley and Angel were actually bonding over their shared experience. “Buffy won’t even come near me,” Angel said. “I know. I keep trying to tell Sam that it’s still me inside. Sam just keeps saying that we need to wait till I’m ‘normal,’” Riley grumbled. Angel and Riley looked at each other, and suddenly realized that they weren’t at each others’ throats. Angel just smiled.
