Chapter Two: What was it?
Buffy and Giles stood in front of the bus trying to figure out what they had hit. It couldn't have been an animal or even a person because there was no blood on the front of the bus or any where else. The tires weren't flat so it couldn't have been a nail or another shopt object. What could it be?

"I know we hit something," Buffy stated still looking around. "It must've been something big. I felt a jolt from the bump. But, there's nothing here." She put her hands on her hips and studied the scene some more.

"Ture. Oh...look at that." Giles pointed to some strange symbol of the front of the bus and Buffy followed his finger. The symbol resembled an "x", but the lines were curved instead of straigh. In the middle of the curved "x" there was large star. The symbol looked like it was burned onto to bus. Buffy had never seen anything like it before. She studied it some more and then turned to Giles.

"What is it, exactly?" She asked.

"I'm not sure. It is definately some...er...kind of symbol. Possible of some demon."

"Great...more evil. How did it get on the bus?"

"I am..er...have no idea."

"Did we even hit anything?"

"I'm not sure. The impact could've been caused by something else."

"Like?"

"We could have passed through any kind of portal leading to another dimension, the past, or the future."

"Oh. Everything looks the same though. It doesn't appear as if we passed through a portal."

"You're right. I was just...er...um...thinking out loud I suppose. Honestly, I have no idea what's going on, Buffy."

"I don't think you're the only one. The nearest hotel is probably in LA and that's where Angel is. Maybe we can stop by and see if he knows anything."

"Yes. He could know something."

"And that's better than nothing."

"Exactly."

"I guess we can get back on the bus now." Buffy walked over to the bus and up the steps and Giles followed. Buffy took her seat and once she sat down Giles started the bus back up again.

"What happened?" Dawn asked looking directly at Buffy.

"Not sure. It didn't look like we actually hit anything. There was just some strange symbol on the bus. Giles had no idea what is was or how it got there. However, we do think it's linked to something evil." Buffy responed.

"As if it wouldn' t be. Evil this, evil that."

"I know. I was glad that we could have a break, but once again it looks like something's here."

"Yep."

"Darn that evil."

Buffy turned around and looked out of the window. The entire bus was in silence. It was the perfect chance for Buffy to do some thinking. She knew it was really early for something evil to be back since they had just closed the hellmouth. Then again evil was alwasy about. The symbol burned onto the bus just confused her more. Nothing added up.

Buffy had been through all sorts of things during her life. From the Master to the First and from Adam to Glory they were all challenging in their own way. No matter what the evil was, she and her friends always figured out some way to put an end to it.

That had definately been tested with the First. It was the most challenging evil they had ever faced. From the Ubervamps to Caleb the First always kept them guessing. It was smart and almost always found a way to trick them into doing something.

The First and tricked Andrew into murdering Jonathan, his best freind, to open the seal. As it turned out he didn't have enough blood and it didn't open. The First also tricked Principle Wood and even Giles into killing Spike. Luckily Buffy had been there to put an end to it. If Spike had died that night, they may have not made it. Spike was a very strong worrier.

Once the First tried to trick Andrew into commiting more murders. When Willow has kissed Kennedy she had turned into Warren and brought a gun into the house. The First wanted Andrew to take that gun and shoot all of the potentials with it. Andrew was smarter that time though and wouldn't let the First get to him.

The First had been very smart. It had tricked at least two potentials into running away or killing thierselves. The First didn't play games at all. It was very serious. All of that didn't matter now though. The First was gone...forever. Buffy just hoped that with whatever was here now, she would be able to stop it as well.

Faith sat in the back alone now. She was bored and wanted to get some action. She had overheard Buffy's conversation with Dawn. Something evil was back and she was not really looking forward to it. Her idea of action was just beating up some vamps and dusting them for fun. It was way too soon for something else to be coming.

"Hey, were exactly are we going?" Faith asked.

"I'm not sure. I know we're going to a hotel and I hope we get there soon." Andrew replied.

"I wasn't talking to you."

"No one ever talks to me."

"Yo, B!"

Buffy heard Faith call her. She hated the old nickname Faith had given her a while back. Faith just loved to call her by the first letter of her name and she knew it pissed Buffy off. By now, however, Buffy had gotten used to it.

"What?" Buffy asked turning around.

"Where are we going?"

"To a hotel."

"I know that part...I mean where?"

"Probably LA."

"Ooooooh...so you can see Angel."

"Yes and it's the closest city that's not in ruins."

"Gotcha." Faith looked down at the floor. It was too queit. Most people didn't feel like talking or were sleeping. She turned to Willow and Kennedy who were holding hands. "Hey guys. I'm really bored."

"I'm actually enjoying the peace and quite." Kennedy responed.

"It is kinda nice," Willow added. "I mean it's been so noisey back at the house."

"All those girls...I'm just glad I have you, Willow."

"Me too. I mean I'm glad I have Kennedy."

"Ugh...you guys are to square for me." Faith said rolling her eyes.

"What?" Willow asked.

"Never mind. The line was kind of lame anyway."

"Please don't stop talking," Andrew pleaded. "I'm really bored without listening to you guys talk."

Willow, Kennedy, and Faith just looked at Andrew and then back to where they were looking before. Faith leaned her head up against the window and closed her eyes. As much as she hated sleeping on a bus, the tiredness had caught up with her and she needed some sleep.

About twenty minutes later Giles pulled up to a hotel. There weren't many cars parked outside so he assumed there would be plenty of room for everyone in the bus. He put it in park and opened the doors. Everyone stood up and walked out into the parking lot.

"Are you sure this place is open?" Xander asked. "It looks kinda desearted to me."

"There's no harm in checking." Giles responded. He led the group into the hotel. He looked for someone to contact for a room when Angel came walking out of an office.

"Angel." Buffy looked at him and smiled.

"Buffy, hi and hi to the rest of you as well." Angel responded. "What are you guys doing here?"

"We um...need a room."
