Buffy stumbled backwards, somewhat stunned from the force of the impact, when a pair of hands grabbed her sholders, steadying her.
"Hey, are you ok?"
"Angel" Buffy sighed with relief as she threw her arms around his neck, taking comfort in his arms and realizing that her feeling of being followed had disappeared.
"Buffy, what's wrong?" he asked as he held her, worry etched on his face. He'd seen the look in her eyes when she ran into him, and he'd seen the same look in the eyes of his many victims of the past. It was the look of sheer terror, one he used to revel in, but now he wanted to know what had scared the otherwise fearless slayer currently in his arms.
She let go of him and took a step back.
"I...I don't know," she said sheepishly. "I...um..thought something was following me, chasing me actually." she finished, feeling lame.
**Some big, bad, slayer I am** she thought miserably.
Her thoughts must've been reflected in her face because Angel pulled her into his arms and gave her a comforting hug. He held her for a few moments, then kissed the top of her head and pulled away.
"Come on," he said as he grabbed her hand "I'll walk you the rest of the way home."
A/N ok i've pretty much decided that i don't care that my chapters are short so if you've got a problem...too bad!
