Two weeks later.
Willow, Buffy, Xander and Minty sat on the cliffs by Tintagel watching the sea pounding the rocks below. The Americans were leaving today, going back to Sunnydale. The Hellmouth was showing increased activity again. Sometimes it felt like their work was never done.
The setting sun turned the sea to molten gold. Minty was tossing small stones into the sea.
"I'm going to miss you when you go home. It's been do nice to have someone around who understands." Minty sighed.
"You'll find someone. Usually in the most unexpected of places," Willow smiled.
"What will you do?" Xander asked.
"I'm getting my very own Watcher next week."
"Ooh," said Buffy. "What are they like?"
"well, he's a he. He's from London. He's 25 and apparently he's best suited to me."
"Ooh," said Willow. "That's so romantic."
"Cheers." replied Minty, slightly sarcastically.
She turned back and looked out over the sea. Silence descended on the group. The sun was just above the horizon now and the sea had turned a fiery red.
Minty could see her destiny stretching out before her. She would return to The Seven Burrows and unlock its secrets, her Watcher constantly by her side. She would Slay vampires as well as Buffy and she would overcome her fears and face the fact that she was a Chosen One. She smiled as an image of the Lady of The Seven Burrows appeared before her eyes. "You are the Guardian now." The Lady said then she faded.
The sun disappeared under the horizon and a chill breeze blew in over the sea.
Minty was at peace. She turned and looked at the American Slayer and her two friends. She could see so clearly the trials and hardships that would follow them. They would lose so much, yet still be together. She hoped that she would be there for them like they had been there for her.
She stood up. "Come on you lot," she grinned at them. "Time to go home." They stood up and followed her up the path and disappeared around the side of the ruins of Tintagel Castle. The first stars appeared in the sky.
Starlight, starbright, first star I see tonight . . .
Three hundred miles away, in a Cavern deep inside a hill in the middle of Britain's second biggest city, a single Standing stone began to glow with a pure silver light.
Five thousand miles away, a darkness began to stir.
