Buffy woke from her nightmare her heart pounding. Her Slayer-sense was screaming. She rolled out of bed and woke Willow. "Something's wrong." Willow immediately woke up. Without a word she started to pull on her clothes as Buffy went to wake everyone else.
She bumped into Minty on the landing. "You felt it too?" Minty asked. Unconsciously they both turned and faced the direction of Beacon Hill. Minty shivered. Buffy turned away and knocked on Giles and Xander's doors.
"Wakey, wakey!" she called through the crack in the doors. "The Hellmouth is calling and we must answer.
Five minutes later they were jogging up the road towards the hill. Minty and Buffy broke away, their superior fitness soon out-distancing the others. By the time they got to the common on the north side of the hill they had left the others far behind. The senses of both girls were screaming. Buffy tried to will it to stop, but it was no use. She turned to Minty.
"Come on, let's se what's come to visit us now." Buffy turned and started running across the common, Minty following close behind.
A couple of minutes later they were by the bronze monument. It glimmered a sickly green in the darkness. They looked warily around, looking in the shadows for anything suspicious. The ground started to tremble beneath their feet. They threw their arms out for balance and looked at each other.
The ground beneath their feet vanished and they plunged into darkness.
