Buffy decided to let the vampire talk. Sneaky as her fanged foes were, they often provided her with valuable information which she could pass on to Giles afterwards. 'Go on...' she said, but still prepared for any sudden movements. The vampire looked pleased with her decision.
'You see, I,-, well, not just me, actually,...there's a new powerful force on the Hellmouth, who promises to lead the dark ones into certain victory, in spite of the Slayer. I was only here tonight as I was fulfilling my pledged duties . I wan't intending to kill you or anything, you know that, right?'
'I'm not sure that I do, but continue', Buffy said impatiently.
'That's it.' said the vampire with a nervous shrug.
'No it's not'' replied Buffy. 'And if that is, that must be the lamest false piece of information that I have ever heard. Ever'. She smiled sweetly.
'Can I stake you now?There isn't a lot of time...'
The vampire widened his eyes in alarm. 'No! I-I have more info, I swear, it just...slipped my mind. It's the stake, it's really unsettling'. Buffy folded her arms impatiently. 'Anyway, there's a secret lair, where we do secret evil stuff. Somethimes our Great One also visits. He might be there tonight. I can show you the place if you want. I can lead you there personally Just don't kill me'.
Buffy paused. The vampire seemed a little uneasy. Was it because of the stake that she kept threatening him with, or was he just lying? If she followed him, at least she could see whether he was telling the truth, and assess the apparantally dangerous situation that he was warning her of. Although it may be a trap. Perhaps she could try and...persuade...him to tell her a little more information first.
