The beginning of the end
5 years earlier
A week after the sleepover
“Spike” came a childish moan; Spike rolls his eyes as he hears the voice,
“Bloody hell” he curses under his breath. He turns around and sees Drusilla walking towards him with a big grin on her face,
“Hello my Spike” she says placing her hands on his chest
“Not your Spike Dru” he says taking her hands of him, she pouts,
“You let her poison your mind all of them, you belong with me” she whispers,
“Sorry Dru I learnt my lesson from being with you, even if it was only for a week, I wont leave my friends for you” he tells her strongly. She smiles widely,
“Poor sweet William, you will you will crave me forever” she moves her hand to his face; he pulls away before she can even touch him.
“No Dru…”
From down the hall Buffy is with Willow laughing and planning the next sleepover/movie night. She looks towards Spikes locker and sees him with Drusilla she stops talking and watches what they are doing. Willow notices her expression and looks towards Spike,
“Buffy don’t worry he’s over her” she reminds her seeing Drusilla with him,
“Yeh” is all Buffy says.
“Go Dru” Spike tells her sternly, Drusilla pouts and steps away before she leaves she places a kiss on his cheek.
Buffy glares at Dru as she walks away, having seen the whole thing. She storms up to Spike,
“What did she want?” she asks sounding annoyed.
“She… she was just trying to get back with me…”
“Trying looks like she got it”
“No luv I’m yours” he says wrapping his arms around her, his touch makes her calm, she slowly smiles and allows him to pulls her closer,
“Better be”
“Hey Buff” Riley calls as he rushes over to her from across the field Buffy stops and waits for him,
“Hey Riley” she greets him. Riley smiles that she is being nice to him. After they broke up about a year ago they hadn’t actually spoken very often,
“So what’s up?” Buffy asks as she starts to walk again.
“Well I was wondering… would you like to go to the Bronze with me tonight?” he asks hopefully. Buffy stops and looks at him her facial expression having changed rapidly,
“What? no Riley we broke up remember you cheated on me I forgave you for that but I’m not going to get back with you. Anyway I have a boyfriend” she ytells him starting to walk off.
“Who?” he asks not caring about what she just said except for that part,
“It’s none of your business.” Riley grabs her arm stopping her from walking off,
“Let go” she tells him,
“No not before you tell me. Who’s your boyfriend?” he asks again. She looks at him with a deathly glare,
“Listen Riley if you really care about me then leave me alone” she tells him,
“Who cares, I just want to know” he tells her hurtfully, she shakes her head in disbelief.
“You bastard. Let me go” she tells him again,
“Is it Spike you two were always a little close even when you were with me” he tells her,
“Is that it, you find out I’m with him and now you want me back is this some sort of guy problem for you” she suggests,
“So it is him” he lets her go and smirks without another word he walks off.
From inside the building Spike sees Buffy with Riley, not being able to hear a word he sees him grab her and how close they were. His eyes flash a shade of yellow as he walks off towards his next class.
Lunchtime.
“Hey” Willow greets her friend as they all crowd around the two tables they joined together. The lunch ladies were used to it so planned for their arrival everything time by putting two tables together. Buffy and Willow were already at the table as they had the same lesson,
“Hey” they all say in muffles as they sit down, Spike sits next to Buffy without a word,
“Yeh, you ok?” she asks,
“Yeh fine” he lies,
“What is it?” she asks again knowing when he’s lying and hiding something from her.
“Come with me” he tells her standing from the table and walking out of the dining room, Buffy looks confused but follows.
“What is it?” she asks,
“What were you doing with Riley earlier?” he asks.
“you saw?” she asks,
“Yeh what did he say to you?” he asks,
“He asked me to the Bronze tonight I said no” she tells him, she sees h how unconvinced he looks and continues,
“He wanted to get back together I think. I told him I had a boyfriend he wanted know who”
“And what did you say?” he asks wanting to know everything,
“I didn’t tell him, so he guessed” she tells him,
“And?”
“He guessed you then he went”
“He just went?” he asks not believing he would just leave it like that.
“Yeh I don’t think he was too happy about it, but he went when he found out I dunno why” she tells him.
“So you didn’t get back with him?” he asks relieved,
“No of course not, Spike how could you even think that he was a jerk. Anyway I love you” she admits, he smiles and kisses her softly on the lips,
“I love you too”
