Chapter 1
Spike grabbed a cup from the shelf and spun it in his hand for the beautiful brunette who sat in front of him. He flipped it in the air and caught it behind his back placing it on the table in front of the giggling brunette. He grabbed the Vodka from the other shelf spinning it on its side and pouring it into the cup. He smiled at the girl who was smiling back, “How do you do that?”
Spike smirked, “Learned from the best.” Spike began walking away from the girl and over to his cousin who was mimicking some of his moves to a blonde girl sitting at the bar. She was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, and he smiled when he heard her giggle, but frowned when he realized it was directed at Angel. She had eyes like emeralds and her skin was light, her golden locks fell around her face in soft curls. She wore the same thing as all the other girls in the bar, a small black dress.
“Hey,” Spike breathed out as Angel continued to show off in front of the girl. Spike smirked at the girl and she gave him a small smile then later gave him a confused look when he starts to mouth her the numbers, “Five, Four, Three, Two, One.”
Sure enough the Coke in Angel's hand fell towards the ground but Spike grabbed it before it hit the hard, cold floor. The blonde woman laughed and Angel almost blushed.
“Come here often, love?” Spike asked tilting his head to the side.
Angel rolled his eyes as his cousin tried to flirt with the girl, “Spike, this is Buffy, Buffy, this is my cousin Spike.” Angel introduced them. “Buffy’s my girlfriend.” Angel explained, “And no she doesn’t come here often she doesn’t drink that much.” He smiled at Buffy.
Spike looked at Angel and then at Buffy, “Can she talk?” He asked.
Buffy smiled, “Yeah, she can.” Buffy said.
Spike smiled at the girl and for once in his whole life was at a loss of words. “So, yeah, I’ll go back to uh doin’ my job.” Spike said smiling and walked back over to the brunette.
“He’s a very interesting guy,” Angel said watching his cousin.
Buffy nodded, “Seems like one.” Buffy looked up at Angel taking a sip of her drink, “When are you getting off?” She asked.
“I don’t know.” Angel answered.
Buffy sighed, “I haven’t seen you the whole week!” She said with a pout.
Angel reached out and cupped her cheek kissing her lightly on the mouth, “I promise I’ll get tomorrow off.” Angel said with a smile.
Buffy smiled and her whole face lit up, “Promise?”
Angel nodded.
Spike moved back over to them spinning the bottle of whiskey in his palm, “It’s like dead tonight,” hecomplained.
Angel sighed at the interruption his cousin gave, but that was something he was used to, what did he expect? It was Spike. “So, go home.” Angel growled.
Spike looked at Buffy, “Is it just me or is he just a little bit more shirty then usual?” Spike asked with a cocky smile.
Buffy couldn’t help but smile, they fought like they were five years old. “Hhirty? Is that even a word?” Buffy asked with a smile, “Or did you just make that up?”
Spike shrugged, “It’s a gift.”
Angel sighed, “Buffy and I were having a conversation.” Angel said turning to his cousin with a frustrated look in his eyes.
Spike threw his hands up in defense, “Sorry for the intrusion.” Spike said looking towards the other end of the bar. The brunette smiled at him and he smirked at her. “Excuse me, ladies.” He said with a smile looking at Angel. He grabbed Buffy’s hand and kissed the top of it making her giggle. “It was a pleasure to meet you, love.” Spike said gazing into her eyes.
Buffy smiled at him, “You too.”
Spike dropped her hand and walked over to the dance floor after the brunette who beckoned him to dance with her.
Buffy smiled and turned back to Angel, “Is he always like that?”
“Only when he is drunk.” Angel explained. “He just got out of a really long relationship.” Angel told her simply, “She dated me then she dated him, cheated on him... they were going together for at least three years.”
“So, he’s drunk?” Buffy asked looking over at Spike as he grinded with some slutty brunette.
“I’m not sure, he’s like that sometimes... when he’s around me at least.” Angel said with a smile.
A blonde sat down a few stools next to Buffy, “Excuse me!” The blonde said, “Bartender?”
Angel walked over to the blonde.
Buffy looked around the place; the air was filled with smoke and smelled like alcohol, which made perfect sense because it was a bar. Her eyes fell on Spike who was dancing with a few girls now. He was a good-looking guy she was surprised at how fast it took him to get what he wanted.
Spike slipped away from the girls and walked behind the bar and smiled at Buffy, “So, love, what can I get you?” He asked with a smirk.
Buffy rolled her eyes, “I'm taken care of, thanks.” She said holding up her coke. She looked around the loud music pounding in her ears. “How did you learn to do all that stuff with the bottles?” Buffy asked.
Spike smiled, “When I was little my brother was, you know, the perfect one.” Spike said with a smile, “So I would go around and finish off the rest of the beers that my dad would leave around. Then I started playin’ with them. That was the only way I got any attention.” He smiled.
Buffy knew the only reason he was being so honest with her was because he was drunk, or he was proud... “I bet you were cute when you were a kid,” Buffy said with a smile sipping at her coke.
“What do you mean were?” Spike asked and raised an eyebrow. “I’m as cute as I was!”
Buffy smiled and Angel came back to them, “The girl at the end is requesting you, Spike.” Angel said and Spike sighed looking over at the blonde Barbie at the end of the bar.
“I went to high school with her.” Buffy said with a smile, “Isn’t that Harmony Kendal?”
Spike let out a frustrated sigh, “Damn that girl does not know what the word no means!” Spike complained. “Hey, Peaches, can you go and tell her to bloody leave?” Spike asked.
“Why?” Angel asked, “It’s funny when she’s around.” Angel said.
“No, it’s bloody not!” Spike whined, stomping his foot.
“Who’s the drama queen now?” Angel asked with a smile.
Spike rolled his eyes, “Bloody poof,” He said. “I’d watch how much gel you use,” Spike warned, “I think it’s sinking through your head and to your brain.”
Buffy laughed at that one and Spike winked at her before walking over to Harmony who smiled happily when he approached her. “It’s getting late,” Buffy said, “I should get home. You know, get Dawn to bed.”
Angel nodded he leaned over the counter and kissed her softly on the mouth, “You want me to call you a cab?”
Buffy shook her head, “Nah, I don’t live to far away.”
Angel smiled and watched her walk out of the bar and into the parking lot. Spike saw her leave too but instead of just staring after her, he jumped over the counter and ran out after her.
Buffy walked down the alleyway, it was a short cut to her house. Spike walked behind her half the way until she realized he was there. “You’re not the smartest chit in the world are you?” Spike asked tilting his head.
Buffy turned around to face him, “Why's that?”
“Because you’re the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen,” Spike spat out, “And you’re walking down an alley way-a dark alley way, alone.”
Buffy smiled, “Is that supposed to be a compliment?”
He shrugged and walked up to her, “Jus sayin’ you shouldn’t be walkin’ alone,” Spike said, “Could get like raped or somthin’.”
Buffy looked at him, “You really are the bringer of good news, aren’t you?”
“I’ll be what ever you want me too.” Spike said with a smirk.
Buffy sighed, “I’m almost at the house.”
Spike nodded, “Alright, Ms...”
“Summers.” Buffy said with a giggle.
“Summers, your chaperon for the evening is going to leave you here.” Spike told her looking back down the alley. “To go back to the bar...”
“Goodnight, Spike.” Buffy said kissing him lightly on the cheek and walking across the road and into her house.
“The cheek...,” Spike said with a sigh. “Tomorrow my head is going to hurt,” he told himself randomly. He watched to make sure she got in the house all right and when she did he turned and walked back down the block to the alley.
Spike got back to the bar and smiled at Angel, “Where were you?” Angel asked.
“Brought your girl home,” Spike explained. “She was walkin’ down the alley... couldn’t just leave her.”
“Yeah, you could've. Listen to me, Spike, Buffy means a lot to me,” Angel told him truthfully. “Please don’t try and screw this up for me.”
Spike patted Angel on the shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. Angel smiled back at him, “Thanks.”
Spike nodded and walked over to the brunette at the bar. Was this was the best he was going to get? Why was it Angel who got every one of the good ones first and then found a way to entrance them so that they couldn’t live without him?
