Buffy and Giles silently walked up to the first car and tried to make sure that everything was OK in there without getting caught. But the windows were too fogged up. Finally they saw motion, and decided that they were fine. They moved along the dirt clearing checking all the cars and keeping an eye out along the nearby tree line incase the werewolf decided to stop by. Once at the far end of the clearing, Buffy motioned toGiles to move towards the woods.
"Maybe we should check down the front of the hill first?" Giles suggested and started in that direction.
"It’s a good fifteen foot drop straight down from the edge. I don’t think we have to worry about that," she replied. She was now wide awake and alert from her frappucinos, but no longer giddy. Wired, but not jumpy. She was back in control and just wanted to get this over with.
"It is possible that a werewolf may just be able to make that jump, however unlikely that it would attempt to attack its prey in such a fashion," Giles said. "I suppose the woods are the better choice."
"See, I’m right from time to time," Buffy said and moved towards the tree line.
"Well, yes I do suppose...." Giles started to reply and began to follow her lead.
"Sshh," Buffy said and stopped suddenly.

Willow sat down at her computer after having a long talk with her mom. She turned the lap top on and the glow finally made everything feel right again. She checked her e-mail and thought about Oz. And hoped that Buffy gets that vampire tonight.
Looking through the e-mails she had accumulated the last few days she found one that brought a long needed smile to her lips:
"To: dingolvr@aol.com
From: Giles.Rupert@sunnydale_hs_ca.edu
Willow,
Am I understanding this correctly? To deliver this message to you, I point my arrow at"
"He’s learning," she whispered aloud. "Slowly, but he’s learning."

Buffy raised the rifle as both her and Giles stood silently watching the tree line. They saw nothing. Buffy made a small hand gesture to Giles for him to follow her as she walked slowly towards the trees. Just as she stepped into the trees she stopped again.
Giles stopped behind her, still listening intently to nothing.
Finally she broke the silence, "I thought I heard something before, but I guess I was wrong."
At that moment the werewolf lunged out from behind a fallen tree and knocked Buffy to the ground.
"Buffy!" Giles shouted and moved towards her to kick the werewolf, but it moved too fast and knocked Giles to the ground.
Buffy was able to flip the beast off of her while it was knocking Giles to the ground. She rolled to a kneeling position, but before she could take aim, it was on her again, knocking the rifle from her grip.
"Hey, keep it down over there!" someone yelled out from their car.
Buffy and the vampiric werewolf wrestled around the clearing and had now rolled over to right behind one of the cars. Giles saw the two rolling around and staggered to his feet. He crossed to the rifle and picked it up.
Giles took aim, but the two were rolling around too much to get off a clean shot.
"Just remember to shoot the big furry thing and not me!" Buffy shouted.
"I can’t get a clean shot," Giles replied.
"Will you people shut up!?!" That person yelled out again.
"Mind your own business," Giles yelled back.
Giles moved in and hit the werewolf over the back of the head with the rifle. That stunned it long enough for Buffy to get out from under it. Just as she got up though, it lunged back at her. She had to duck between two of the cars to keep from getting knocked back to the ground.
Once Buffy got around the side of the car and the werewolf was in the clear, Giles took aim and fired. But the gun jammed. Probably due to hitting the beast with it.
"I’m running out of room, Giles," Buffy said as she neared the ledge.
"The gun jammed," Giles replied.
"Fix it!" Buffy yelled back.
Giles worked the mechanisms of the rifle to see if he could un-jam it.
Buffy moved back as far as she could go.
The werewolf slowly followed her between the cars. It stopped about four feet in front of her.
Giles and Buffy both heard a click as the rifle un-jammed.
"Shoot!" Buffy nearly screamed.
At that moment Giles took aim.
The beast leaped at Buffy. She crouched and flipped the werewolf up over her head.
Giles fired, luckily aiming a little high. The tranquilizer hit the vampire in the chest just as Buffy lifted it over her head.
The wolf let out a weak howl and flipped over the ledge.
Giles rushed forward to Buffy’s side. "Are you alright?" he asked.
"I’m fine now," she said and quickly checked for scratches. She didn’t see any on her hands. "How many more darts do you have?"
"Three more in the car. Why?" Giles queried.
"Get them," Buffy instructed.
Buffy walked over to the ledge as Giles returned to his car for the rest of the darts. She looked down and could barely make out the dark shape of the wolf against the lighter rocks, but she could see a slight glint off of the dart already in the beast.
She turned back to Giles as he returned.
"This guy isn’t going anywhere tonight," she said as she took the darts and loaded the first into the rifle. She leaned back over the ledge and fired it into the drugged monster. She loaded and fired the other two as well. "I’m thinking he could use a good tan."
"We should get back. I want to make sure you haven’t been scratched," Giles said as he looked down upon the sleeping werewolf. As the light from the full moon glinted off the darts, he knew the sun would be up before it awakens, but he still didn’t feel comfortable leaving it there. "We should come back in the morning to check on it. Also, these darts aren’t easy to come by. We may need them again for Oz."
"OK. I just want to go to bed. I guess that caffeine finally wore off. Well, if I was scratched, a girl in my old school said that she named her dog Buffy, because it’s a good dog name. I’d be your pet werewolf, Buffy," she said and walked back to his car.
"I wouldn’t worry. In this light I can’t see any scratches, I just want to be sure," the watcher said as he followed her to his car. He put the weapon back in the trunk and they drove home.
