Getting the gang back (Part 2)
The next morning the gang split to go do their different jobs, Gunn goes off in search of his ex, Anya spends most of the morning trying to get Xander in a good enough mood so she can tell him about the plan and the rest just keep hoping it works out right.
Gunn reaches his destination the most hidden part of the field is where Faith always hangs out mostly because her and some of her friends can smoke without being noticed by teachers.
“Uh Faith” Gunn gets her attention, she turns round shocked at the sound of his voice,
“Gunn hey, uh what’s up?” she asks seriously wondering why he is actually talking to her.
“Can I talk to you it’s important?” he asks, she shrugs and follows him.
“What?” she asks not wanting to have small talk,
“We need your help” he stars,
“Who?” she asks confused,
“The scoobies” she looks at him surprised she hadn’t heard them called that since they split, sure people who hadn’t heard the news called them that for a while but after the news was spread that name was history.
“Huh?”
“The gang is making a come back but we cant do it without everyone, including you” he tells her.
“You really think the whole gang will agree to this?” she asks not believing what she’s hearing,
“They already have, now all we need is you, Xander, Spike and Buffy,” he tells her. She can’t help but smile at that,
“Yeh cause Buffy and Spike speaking not arguing that’ll happen”
“Faith please just hear what we plan to do if you still don’t want to help fine, but we need you in this… I need you” he finishes quietly, he never wanting to break up with her but they both knew they had no choice.
Her feature softens,
“Ok, I’ll come by later” she tells him her old feeling resurfacing,
“Great we’re meeting at Tara’s 6pm,” he tells her,
“I’ll be there,” she tells him before walking off.
“Xander” Anya tried to speak in the middle of kisses,
“Yeh” he stops kissing her so she can talk,
“How would you feel if the gang got back together?” she asks without a moment hesitation. His mouth forms a smile,
“You joking, no way would that happen.” He tells her,
“But what if the gang wanted to go back to how things were?” she asks,
“Ahn the gang don’t, so what’s with all the questions?” he asks,
“I want to gang back together, all of us, Buffy and Spike as well” she tells him.
“Why would you want to hang around with captain peroxide for?” he asks,
“Because he’s my friend and we all used to be the best of friends I miss that, don’t you?” she asks not believing he doesn’t miss it.
“Sure yeh but Spike can drop dead for all I care,” he tells her,
“Fine,” she storms off leaving him standing there in confusion.
“We’ve got Faith” Gunn tells Cordy and Angel,
“Great now all we need is…”
“God he’s such a jerk” Anya moans as she joins the small group,
“I guess Xander’s out” Angel asks,
“Yeh he’s so… ugh I cant even think I’m so mad”
“It’s ok we’ll just have to do this without him” Cordy tell them.
At 5:55pm all the gang are already at Tara’s all except Faith, they begin to have doubts about her actually being willing to help,
“Where is she?” Dawn asks,
“I said 7pm she’ll be here,” Gun tells them. At that point the doorbell rings and Faith walks in, but she isn’t alone tailing behind her is Buffy looking really pissed off. The gang sit in silence as the brunette and blonde scan the group.
“Ok, what the hell is going on here?” Buffy decides to break the silence.
“Uh hey Buff, we all decided to get together and talk things out, I mean it’s been 6 years now and we all thought it was time to clear the air” Cordy explains, Buffy nods not believing a word of it,
“Yeh sure”
“Hey babe come on join us it’ll be just like old time” Doyle tries to convince her she smiles.
“Sorry I gotta get home” she tells him and heads for the door. Doyle follows her out.
“You brought her along, why?” Cordy asks,
“Well Gunn said you wanted all of us so Buffy is apart of that all” she tells them.
“Yeh but we’re not ready for her yet, we need to get her and Spike talking before this will work” Angel tells her,
“Well don’t blame me then I done my part I’m here”
“Buffy what’s wrong, why wont you spend time with your friends?” Doyle asks her as they walks towards her car,
“They’re not my friends not anymore, it’s over Doyle” she tells him with tears filing her eyes,
“Yes they are, that’s why they’re here, they want the old gang back they miss the fun times” he explains, “And I think you do too” he adds she looks at him forcing back her tears,
“I…”
“I know what happened between you and Spike,” he tells her,
“Yeh well then you should know what he did and that he claimed it was my fault,” she argues back,
“Buffy I know he hurt you but you hurt him too” he tries to calm her.
“Yah and I hope it cut through his heart like a blunt knife,” she tells him bitterly. Doyle’s face changes quickly he had never said anything like this before.
“Buffy…”
“No you left you don’t know what I have been through what any of us have been through”
“I’m here to help you, I want you guys to be friends again”
“Well I don’t” she says convincingly and walks off. Doyle watches her leave but doesn’t see her sad and tear filled eyes. Seeing the gang like that brought back old memories for her and they were making her feel bad for what she has put them through, but she cant go back to them not after everything that has happened.
