Buffy walked in, ahead of all of her friends. The lights went out as she entered the library. "You know, we've done this before," she pointed out as she turned around to face Angelus.

"Yeah, but I was unimpressed by the ending. I thought that we could maybe fix it, Buff."

"Where are the others?"

"Well... Wolfboy's in the cage. No one's visiting him until morning. Whoever followed you got locked out of the school."

"What about Giles?"

"What do you think?" he returned.

Buffy jumped up, grabbed onto the doorway, and swung forward, nearly kicking Angelus in the head. He ducked just in time, but came up as she dropped back to the ground.

"I guess that ends the small talk. But really, Buff, is that the best you've got?" he laughed.

"I've got this. She pulled out a long stake, holding it less than a foot away from Angelus's heart.

"Oh, yeah. Sharp and pointy, luv. Angelus likes those. But he has this tendency to shove them through a Slayer."

"It's almost like a poem." If Buffy turned around, she knew that she'd see the wheelchair-bound Spike, along with his sire, Drusilla... Who'd been sired by Angel.

Not Angel, she told herself. Angelus. They weren't the same, no matter what anyone else thought.

Of course, that didn't matter. She was surrounded. Sure, fangs on wheels wasn't a big threat, but Drusilla and Angelus... That was something else. Stake or no stake, she'd be lucky to live through this.

She heard movements from behind her, probably Drusilla. Spike wheeled around her, watching Angelus. "I'm going to give you five seconds to run," snarled the oldest vampire as his face changed, "as of five seconds ago." The crazy vampire pushed Buffy toward Angelus.

He reached out a hand to the Slayer's face, and touched it very gently. "And now, Buffy," he laughed, "It's time for you to wake up." He moved in closer, and repeated, "Wake up."

She opened her eyes to look at Willow. "Buffy? Wake up," her friend pleaded with her.

"Will." She stretched. "Did we find?"

"Well, Giles says not to be worried, that we never find things right away when we need to--no," she replied off of Buffy's look.

"Ah, Buffy. I told Willow not to disturb you until the middle of the morning." Giles came out from his office, giving Willow his patented Giles-look.

"And--it is, Giles," Willow replied. "It's already almost three."

"Yes, I--I see." He took off his glasses to polish them again, a gesture he'd repeated several times already.

"It's okay. I wasn't really--it wasn't restful." Buffy wasn't really sure what to say.

"Were you dreaming of Angel again?" Willow half-smiled sympathetically.

"His eviller half, actually."

"Yes, well, I'm--I'm quite sorry, Buffy." She knew that he was. Giles, above everyone else, would understand the pangs of the Buffy/Angel drama the best. He was the only other one to really, truly suffer out of the scoobies group--except, of course, for Willow's fish.

"So, how about that new evil in town?" Buffy looked at him. "Will said that you haven't found anything yet."

"Nothing really, no."

There was a snarl from the outer library. "Poor Oz," sighed Willow.

"Yeah. You said 'nothing really', Giles. Does that mean that there was something? Because right now, I'll go with anything that can make sense."

"Most books referring to the rise of the dead are referring to vampires. And that isn't much help, Buffy. But there was a section... I don't remember the exact book... It's so old, the title's worn off. Ah, yes, here it is." He cleared his throat a little and began to read.

"'On the full moon and the weeks both previous and following, the dead undead shall rise again, and shall seek out the being responsible for their final demise.'"

"Wow. I guess that means that I should really stay inside." Buffy looked a little surprised.

"Now wait, Buffy, there's more. 'Only the most powerful shall have the ability to return.'"

"Buffy... There's only two really powerful vamps that you've killed since you came here." Willow looked even more scared than she had before. "Luke... And the Master."

"Giles, will I have to face the Master again?" "I... I don't know, Buffy. I really don't know."

From the lobby, Oz howled again.
