Part Eight
Rupert and Jenny slumped against the wall as the girls finished while everyone else looked on in silence.
Dru looked around at everyone’s shocked faces, “What was the orphanage like?”
Faith laughed, “Inner city orphanage in the middle of LA? I can guarantee that it wasn’t all flowers and candy. The place reeked of dirty kids and dying animals…”
“There were no animals Faith,” corrected Buffy.
Faith shrugged, “That’s not the point; the point is that after about a week the doctors taking care of Buffy moved the both of us into the hospital where they were treating her. We got so much better treatment there especially because of the traumatic fire and shit.”
Oz held up his hand, “We? I thought Buffy was the sick one?”
“I was, but Faith still had to see a therapist because our father tried to kill us,” explained Buffy.
“I was working at the hospital as a secretary for their doctor while finishing up my degree. I was typing up some notes on one of Doc Melvin’s cases when I heard a fight starting,” said Jenny adding to the story.
“Hey!!” yelled Faith, “I was defending B. What was I supposed to do? Let some bitch talk a bunch of BS about my sister? Nope, no way so I kick the girl’s ass.”
“Faith dear, you broke her nose; three ribs; and an arm. I really wish that the hospital had never offered kickboxing classes to people. The poor girl was really hurt,” explained Jenny.
“So was I,” Faith shrugged, “Four cracked ribs and a concussion.”
Xander laughed, “Yeah that sounds like our Faith, always thinking with her fists instead of her head.”
Cordy hit Xander upside his head, “Would you shut up!!! They’re trying to tell a story here and the peanut gallery wasn’t invited to make comments.”
Buffy laughed, “It’s alright Cordy. I remember a little of the fight and I remember that that girl actually hit me with something…”
“It was a plastic butter knife,” helped Faith, “When thrown correctly it can cut a person…”
“Which is where I got the scar that’s on my forehead,” finished Buffy, “Anyway, I was sitting on the floor and when I got cut I automatically covered my forehead and lost my balance. Just before I hit the floor Jenny grabbed me and that’s when I really woke up.”
Jenny smirked, “I caught you and then you looked up at me like I had saved your life. You seemed so tiny and afraid and I just couldn’t help but fall in love with you right there. I went home that night and told Rupert that we had to adopt you girls.”
“I put up the biggest argument. We were had been married only two years and both of us were trying to find a permanent situation. But Jenny kept on fighting back and saying how the twins needed us and so I finally gave in,” spoke Rupert.
“Not to be rude or anything but what happened in New York?” asked Angel.
Faith sighed, “New York was the first time I think any of us realized that Hank was still alive. Short version is that one night we were at a club when B quite literally ran into Hank. We freaked; he was supposed to be dead and there he was right in front of us.”
“After that we told mom and dad and then the pictures started coming again. We had called the police and they talked with the original cops in LA. Everyone tried really hard to catch him but after almost six months of torment he disappeared. There were no more pictures or notes; no anything.”
“The FBI had taken some interest in the case and they promised us that they would catch him but in the interest of safety Rupert and I decided to move everyone out here since we both got new job offers and this is a small town where we had hoped nothing would ever happen,” said Jenny.
“So now that this Hank has found you again, what are you going to do?” asked Willow.
