Chapter 1
The phone rang in the cozy little Venice Apartment. Buffy Summers, the ex-one and only Chosen One got up to answer it. She looked at the clock to see what time it was, it was 3:00 in the morning.
"Ugh, who could it be this early in the morning?"
She picked up the phone and gave a sarcastic answer "Hello, Insomniac speaking."
"I'm sorry to disturb you this early in the morning Buffy, but it is really ergent." replied the man on the on the other line.
The sound of that voice woke Buffy up in an instant. She knew it all too well, it was the voice of her ex-Watcher for 4 of the 7 years at Sunnydale, California, it was Rupert Giles.
"Giles, I haven't heard from you in like, forever."
"Yes, well I have been kind of busy with finding and training the slayers while slowly trying to re-building the Council" he told her.
"Oh yeah, that thing." she said while tring to stiffle a laugh.
"You know I wouldn't bother you if it wasn't important but, it is the slayers. You remember the scythe that inhabits the power of the slayer, the one that Willow used to give all of the potentials the power of the slayer. Well it was destroyed, and all of the new slayers strength is gone." he informed her
"Oh my God, Giles what are we going to do?" she asked him in a worried voice.
"Well, it looks as if we will have to do battle with The First once again." The Watcher said.
"But how? I mean last time we only won because we had the scythe with all of the slayers and Spike sacrificed himself with the amulet." she told him.
Just thinking about Spike made her heart ache. She had finally told him she loved him just before the Hellmouth had devoured him. He gave her the same answer she had given him everytime he had said it to her: "No you don't." She wished she had said that before, when she knew he was going to live. But that was behind her, she had shown that by dating again. Actually, she thought things between her and The Immortal were getting kind of serious. They were spending more and more time together, she thought things might start to get "physical".
"Well that's what were going to have to figure out. Now I have been doing some research, and it turns out that the Hellmouth under Sunnydale was not destroyed but, rather it moved. I have had Willow do a spell and it turns iut that it is located under L.A. now. I have been in contact with Angel and he says that there has been a lot more mystical convergance than usual. He said that he beleives it is located under a place called Wolfrom and Hart. He told me that the building was destroyed but that it is under the ruins of it."
Ahh. Three more things that made her heart ache: Angel, Willow, and L.A. (this phone call was getting a lot more emotional than she thought it would).
Angel, her first in the sense of getting "physical", which led to him turning evil, and her having to stab him with a sword and send himinto Hell. He was her soul mate, which is weird because he is a vampire, but unlike other vampires he had a soul, actually he was cursed with a soul. Spike also was a vampire with a soul, but he got his because he wanted to please her, not because he was cursed by it. Her and Angel could never work though, because one instant of pure happiness and Angel would lose his soul and become a ruthless vampire.
Willow was her best friend. She was the very first friend Buffy made when she moved to Sunnydale. She was once called the most powerful Wicca in the Western Hemisphere, but not anymore since she now lives in England with Giles. Two years ago Willow went off the deep end after her lover Tara was shot and killed by Warren and flayed him. She went all black haired (from her usual red hair) and veiny, it was überscary. Weird enough was that Xander was the one who stopped Willow from destroying the world. It was just last year when Willow was finally rid of her darkness and "purified". She moved on though, but never forgeting Tara, with Kennedy, a potential that is a now a slayer ( well not now, but before the scythe broke).
L.A. is the place where she grew up and lived until her parents got divorced. It was the place where found out she was the slayer and she ended up burning down the gym in order to kill a whole bunch of vampires. It is also the place where her one true love Angel lives. It is like a big crock pot of bad memories.
She didn't know what to do. One minute she was living the good life, she was one of a hundred slayers and no longer had to slay or fight, she could just have fun and live life how she always wanted to. Now all of a sudden she was the only slayer, well besides Faith of course. She didn't want to put her little sister Dawn in danger though, she had promised her a peaceful life, but now that was goin' to be kinda hard. She couldn't just leave Dawn in Venice while she went to L.A. , she was only 17, she would have to bring her.
"Well" she told Giles "Have you contacted the other guys yet?"
"Well Willow knows of course, her and Kennedy both, since well you know. I haven't been in contact with Xander though. Willow said he was going on journey to "find himself", but apparently he hasn't come back yet." Giles replied.
"Well, tell Willow to do a locator spell of some sort to find Xander, and also get a hold of Faith and have them all meet me in L.A., were gonna need all the help we can get. Wow, look at what it takes for a family reunion, an apocalypse." she used the laughter to cover up for the fear that she had.
"Well, I'll see you in a day or two, meet us at a place called the Hyperion, Angel will take you there" he told her.
"Alright, bye then"
"Bye"
She hung up the phone and went into her sisters' room. She looked so peaceful, not knowing that in a few minutes she would be packing up to leave to L.A., where they grew up together and where they might lose their lives together. She walked over to her sisters' bed.
"Wake up Dawn, were going to L.A."
