Raksha was very tired. The Slayer and her friends had spent hours questioning her after she told her story. < Or at least it felt like hours. I swear if they asked me one more question about the magic I used, I might start killing humans again. It's not a big deal. I've learned a lot of things in five thousand years. > But now they were doing something worst. They were staring at her and contemplating what she had said. < I feel like I'm a fish in an aquarium. >
Raksha got up, quickly gathering her things. She obviously wanted to leave. "Enough of this. I'll see you later." < I've gotta get outta here. >
"The sewer access is in the basement," Giles told her, getting up to show her the way.
"So?" Raksha asked. "Why would I use the sewers?"
"Because it's after dawn. Sunlight," Buffy said.
"Oh! Sunlight doesn't kill me," Raksha stated.
"But I thought it affects all demons," Giles protested.
"I does. It kills all demons that I know of, except me because I can't be killed of course," Raksha responded.
"It doesn't hurt you at all?" Willow asked, joining in.
"It bothers me some, but I'd rather stand the irritation than go into the sewers. I can't stand the smell, not to mention the rats and other nasty things. I don't see how some demons stand it," Raksha explained. She started to leave.
"Oh! Okay. Wait! Where can I find you?" Buffy asked.
"I'll be around. Don't worry, if you need me, I'll be there," Raksha told her, while walking out the door. < I think I'll go visit my old beau.... >
* * *
Raksha stood outside the old house Angelus and the others had recently took over. < Should I go in? Or should I stay outside? I want to visit Spike. I've always liked Spike's demon, for a demon, of course. He was always funny and sarcastic. Plus, I've always been a bit partial to that body. >
Raksha started looking around the house for some place she could break in. She finally found the basement access. < Perfect. I'll probably have to step over some sleeping vampires though. Oh well. I'll just have to be careful. There's nothing worst that a vampire after they've been woke up. >
Raksha pried one of the doors of the access open. As she predicted several vampires were sleeping down there. She was careful not to let the sun hit any of the vampires because she didn't want to disturb any. Raksha stepped into the basement and closed the door behind her. She walked carefully around the vampires, making her way to a set of stairs.
< Now where is Spike. He has to be on the ground floor because I doubt that Spike bought a lift for his wheel chair. And I just can't imagine Angelus carrying him up the stairs. > Raksha started looking through the rooms of the down stairs. Suddenly her 'spider sense' kicked in. She could sense a strong vampire in the next room. < Well it can only be Spike, Angelus or Drusilla. I doubt it's Angelus or Dru because they can't stand to be away from each other. It has to be him. >
" Oh where, oh where has my little Spikey gone? Oh where, oh where can he be?" Raksha sang, taunting Spike, as she entered the room.
Spike looked up from the novel he was reading. He looked at Raksha for a few moments, obviously trying to remember who she was. Finally it dawned on him.
Spike rolled his eyes. "And I thought my luck couldn't get much worst. First I have to deal with the Slayer. Then I get caught in a church fire, which lands me in this bloody wheel chair. Next Angel loses his soul and becomes Angelus again. I was thinkin' 'Spike your luck's got to be changing.' But then he moves in with Dru, as you can probably hear." He gestured to the ceiling. There were sounds of a couple 'mating' coming down from above. "And just when I thought my pathetic existence couldn't get much worst, here you come. My ex - lover, the talented demon hunter. Which my, excuse me, Angelus' pathetic guard dogs let in. God. Just stake me now and get this over with."
"Now, why would I want to stake you?" Raksha asked innocently, batting her eyes at Spike.
Spike growled at her. "It's what you're here to do, so do it. Don't waste my time. It is rather pathetic that you have to stake me while I'm in this wheel chair."
"First of all, you might be able to pull one over on your nutty ex and Angelus, but I know damn well you can get off your ass, if you want to. Secondly, I'm just here to talk. If I wanted to kill you, you would have been dust a long time ago. Now do you to talk or do you want to fight. It doesn't matter to me. But I personally don't think you're worth a stake," Raksha stated.
"You always were smart. How did you know I was faking?" Spike asked.
"So you do want to talk. I know a lot of things. How I know them is something I don't tell, A girl has to have some secrets, you know," Raksha answered.
Spike got out of his chair and started pacing. "So talk. It's what you want right?"
"Yes it is," Raksha answered. "I want to make sure you'll stay out of my way when I go after Angelus."
"Yeah. I'm gonna stop you from taking out the asshole that's fucking my woman," Spike stated, more than a bit sarcastic.
"You did the first time. If you do, I won't hesitate to kill you this time." Raksha retorted.
"Believe me. I have no intention from stopping you. Shit, I'll even help you."
"Good. Just stay away from me," Raksha warned. "And the Slayer."
"Fine. Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure. If I can ask you one."
"Great. Why didn't you kill me?"
"I like you. For a demon, you're not half bad. Of course, I preferred you when you were still alive, but things never work out the way they're supposed to." Raksha started to leave.
"Weren't you going to ask me a question?" Spike asked, stopping her.
"Yeah. I was wasn't I? Okay, here it is. Why do you stay with Drusilla? She's unfaithful to begin with. Not to mention she's loonier that any hippie doing LSD I ever met."
"I stay with her because I need her. She's like a drug, I'm obsessed with. She's mine."
"Wrong. She's not yours. In case you haven't noticed."
"She will be. If your plan works."
"But after all this, will you still want her? Are you sure you didn't just want Dru in the first place because she was Angelus'?" And with that Raksha turned and left.
"I don't know," Spike whispered, as soon as she was out of hearing distance. "I just don't know."
* * *
Spike was still pacing. Back and forth, back and forth, very rapidly. He was obviously very concerned about something.
< Do I still love Dru? Did I ever really love her? Yes of course I love her. Do I? Did I ever? Or is it as Raksha said. Did I just want Dru because she was Angelus'? The Forbidden Fruit. Damn. Why did Raksha start this? Why did I listen..... >
Suddenly Spike heard footsteps. He rushed back over to his chair and tried to appear like nothing had happened - that he was still engrossed in his novel.
< I've read this bloody Anne Rice novel a hundred times. I didn't like it the first time. Shit I threatened to kill the woman. See what boredom does to a man. Damn the sun. And while your at it, damn this wheelchair too. >
Angelus and Drusilla entered the room purposely. They looked very pissed. Drusilla, her face twisted with anger, crossed the room and scratched Spike across the face, leaving four nasty looking slashes.
"You've been a bad, naughty boy," Drusilla scolded.
"What is she talking about, mate?" Spike asked Angelus, the sanest of the pair.
"You know very well what she is talking about. Dru had a vision of you talking to that hunter," Angelus spat.
"She came for a little social visit. What was I supposed to do? Kill her?" Spike defended himself.
"Yes. Since it seems that you can walk. What else have you been hiding from us?" Angelus asked.
Spike silently sighed in relief. < She didn't see the whole conversation. Thank Satan. >
"I wasn't hiding the fact that I can walk. I was just trying to get really good at before I told you. A suprise - ya know?" Spike saved. < Hopefully. > "Plus you an' Dru seem to have better things to do."
"It's okay, luv," Drusilla accepted his apology. Then she admonished, "No more secrets!"
"I have none," Spike answered, sighing silently in relief.
"So what did that hunter want anyway?" Angelus inquired.
"Nothing much. Just some 'Stay outta my way' and 'Don't make me hurt you luv' crap. Just trying to keep me out of the game. Don't worry about it." Spike answered.
"Still gotta thing for you, doesn't she? You woulda thought she got over it." Angelus snickered.
"You would think," Spike commented.
Drusilla perked up when she heard that. "Who wants my Spike?" Drusilla asked.
"The hunter - Raksha," Angelus answered her.
"Your Spike? I didn't think I was *your* Spike anymore. It seemed that you had moved on," Spike his sarcasm connived his anger. "Here I was thinkin' that you went back to *your* daddy. I don't think *I* was *wrong*."
With that Spike got up out of his chair. He grabbed his coat and started to leave.
"Where ya goin'?" Dru asked, whimpering. "Your still weak."
"I'm strong enough. Its so *touching* that *you* care." Spike answered sarcastically. "I'll be back."
He walked out of the house without even a second look.
"Why is he mad? What did I do?" Dru asked Angelus, with innocent eyes.
"Don't worry about it baby. He's just jealous. He'll come around," Angelus answered. "Come now. Let's go reek some havoc on the good people of Sunnydale."
* * *
Raksha scanned the Bronze looking for Buffy, while sipping a cafe latte she had ordered. She was having trouble finding her. < I didn't know this place was so big. Or so crowded. I never saw crowds this big at any church service, in the old days. This is where people go to now that after they've abandoned God and the Church. They come here worship their new gods of passion, drugs and sex in places like these. Not that that's a bad thing. *Sigh* I'm getting too critical in my old age. Goddess! Well at least the days of the inquisitions are over. >
Finally, Raksha spotted Buffy sitting at a table with her friends. She somehow made her way gracefully through the crowd.
"Hello," Raksha said, when she reached them.
"So what did you do today? See the sights of Sunnyhell? Do the historical museum thing? The art gallery thing? Or all, considering what a small town we have here?" Xander asked.
"D - None of the above," Raksha answered.
"So what did you do?" Buffy asked, curious.
"I went and visited an *old* friend. And made some plans on how to kill Angelus," Raksha answered.
"Spike, huh?" Willow asked.
"Yep. You're Ms. Perceptive aren't you?" Raksha asked.
"Speak of the Devil," Buffy cut in.
The whole group turned to see that Spike had just entered the Bronze. He spotted Raksha and started over towards the group. Buffy and her Slayerettes watched every step he made - just to make sure it wasn't a trap.
"I figured I'd find you here. Bloody dreadful, isn't it?" Spike asked Raksha.
"What are you doing here? How many times do I have to chase you vamps out of the Bronze?" Buffy demanded.
"If I was you I'd worry more about your ex - lover than me. I'm here to talk to Raksha." Spike told her.
"So talk," Raksha said. She looked really bored.
"Can we step outside? Its kinda private," Spike asked her.
"Sure," Raksha answered. "This better be good."
Raksha started to leave. She threw away her cup of coffee and put on her coat.
"You're just going to leave with him? It could be a trap," Buffy warned her.
"Its not. I trust him," Raksha responded. "Even if it was I could handle myself."
Raksha left with Spike.
"Where to?" she asked.
"The park."
"This better be good."
"It is."
Spike was looking at her oddly. < What the hell is he staring at? >
"Is there something on my face?" Raksha asked, trying to find out what his problem was.
"No. Why?"
"You keep looking at me."
"Its just that I can't get over how much you've changed."
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
"In your case, its very good thing."
"Thanks. Coming from you it means *so* m....."
Raksha never got to finish. Spike had suddenly grabbed her and kissed her, cutting her off.
