San Francisco California, 2006
A girl with long, dark brown hair made her way across the busy highway street. She jogged into a nearby park, lured there by a high-pitched scream.
She reached the screamer in time to see her limp body fall to the ground, a Vampire behind her with a blood soaked face. She walked over to him slowly. He just smirked as his foot connected with her stomach.
Grunting as the wind was knocked out of her, she looked frantically around for a weapon. Finally she saw a sharp tree branch a few feet away from her. She ducked and rolled as the Vamp took another swipe at her, landing in front of the branch.
Grabbing it, she jumped to her feet and quickly turned to face her assailant.
“You know how to use that thing little girl?” He snarled.
“Oh yeah. Pointy end goes into the bad guy. Not a practically hard concept to comprehend.” She lunged forward and buried the wood in his chest.
She turned and sighed as he turned to dust. The victim was dead, so she left before she could be traced to the crime scene.
As she made her way out of the park, she couldn’t help thinking, what had drove her to a place like this? Then the answer came to her. ‘Oh yeah, them.’
Crawford, California 1996 ...
Nimue Hallowell stood still ... Petrified. She was only 12, now graduating from one of the top preparatory schools in the state. She snapped out of her blank stare as she heard her name being called.
“Nimue Hallowell!” The teacher called. Her friend standing next to her nudged her to go up to the stage.
“You were voted the student with the best grades.” The teacher smiled. Nimm scanned the crowd for her parents. She had reminded her parents every morning for the past two weeks about her award ceremony.
Nimm accepted her award and made her way down the steps, holding her back tears. She didn’t see her parents anywhere.
Junior High Graduation, 1998 ...
Nimm graduated 9th out of the ten top students in her school. Her parents, once again, never showed up. They had been at her brother’s enrollment in military school. She was furious, but never told anyone how she felt.
Later that summer she started to get involved with the dark arts. She loved the way it made her feel, like she could control herself better, and control other people.
Later in 2001 ...
In the 10th grade Nimm got into a bit of trouble with her witchcraft. She decided to change how she used her magic when an unpleasant incident occurred. She doesn’t talk about even today. She got interested in a Wicca group and they trained her to use her magic only to help other people and herself.
High School Graduation 2003 ...
Nimm didn’t graduate at the top of her class, and she didn’t care that her parents never showed. But it was still the last straw; she was done being someone her parents didn’t notice. Her parents didn’t care about her, and the only person who did was away at military school.
She ran away that night.
