I probably should've done this as soon as the story was over, but I've always been a bit of a procrastinator. It's one of my more lacking traits. I recently posted this story up of FanFiction.Net, and I got the idea to do this, so here I am. ^_^
Like the summary says, it's not an actual part of the story. Just me talking about some things that I wanted to happen, that maybe didn't, and how I felt about some stuff, and tie up any loose ends. Basically, I'm trying to imitate Joss Whedon giving some behind-the-scenes interview, so bear with me, hmm? (Lol.)
1) In the Beginning: I'd originally wanted Buffy and Angel to be reborn, yes, but the story was never supposed to center around the action part (the war Angel launched). It was supposed to center around their romance. But I think it may have been school, or me working on another story, that pushed me to rush the story, so things got changed. Another part of the reason I changed the focus of the story was because I really had no clue where I wanted the relationship to go after they'd found each other again. One day, I want to do kind of an alternate version (my original idea of this story). We'll see how that goes.
2) The Unknown Force: Throughout the story, I kept alluding to some mysterious evil force inconspicuously at work. I meant it, obviously (or maybe not), to be the Senior Partners. Well, the SPs acting through Ted (Buffy's stepfather) and Adam (Buffy's abusive stepbrother). I gave them those names on purpose, and they were supposed to play a bigger part in her life (or at least stick around in the story longer), because like I mentioned before, I wanted Buffy's pre-Slayer days to be longer. They were really supposed to bring her down, make her feel the darkness.
3) Lip-Locker Memory Blocker: Hey, that's pretty catchy! ...Okay, back on topic. Originally, I'd wanted Buffy and Angel's pre-memory romance to go on for much longer. They were supposed to have that feeling that they were madly madly madly in love with each other, but wouldn't know why it was happening so fast. They were originally supposed to regain their memories when they had made love together, not when they kissed each other the first time.
4) Hannah: Anyone remember Angel's five-second girlfriend, Hannah? Yeah, the one Spike gave to him (How sexist does that sound? Should I be offended at myself?). Anyways, she was supposed to be Angel's ex, who would then try and steal him from Buffy. Of course, she wouldn't win, but I think the Buffy-Hannah-insult-"Angel's-my-man-so-get-the-hell-away-from-him-you-ho" scenes would have been funny. Hannah may have even been turned to a vampire, and when Angel remembers who he was, that's when she moves in on him (Thought of that last little bit just now. ^_^).
5) The Powers-That-Scooby: I can't remember if I've clearly explained why members of the Scooby Gang and Team Angel took over as PTBs. The old Powers had to move on, and gave the job to more experienced souls. Well, experienced in the way of fighting evil. We saw that they're barely keeping it together, trying to rule all of existence.
6) Saddle 'Em Up, Cowboy: Spike's preference to western wear instead of the togas. Hey, he'd look hot either way, so I have no complaints. ...Just something I added in for fun. ^_^
7) "Dracula Shmacula": Obviously, I'd wanted Dracula to be the Guardian to the Hellmouth in Brazil (yes, I realize that the last Hellmouth was in Cleveland, but as far as exotic places go, that's not one). There was supposed to be this scene, where Buffy and Angel get past all the minions and come face-to-face with Drac. Buff's shocked, and Angel's mildly surprised. At first it's just talking, while Drac tries to seduce Buff again, and all the while Angel's getting jealous. Then when he mentions how he fed off Buffy, Angel loses it and punches him. Cue fight scene. ...I think that would have worked out well, don't you?
8) The Chamber of Coincidence: The chamber in which Cordy sealed away magick was opened, as was revealed in the first chapter (not counting the prologue). I can't remember if I alluded to it or not, but the chamber was supposed to have shifted (due to the tectonic plates and all that) to Cleveland. Cue creepy spooky ominous-sounding music.
9) "The Wish: When I was thinking of the world in which Buffy and Angel should be reborn into, I was thinking post-apocalyptic, along the lines of Alternate Sunnydale in "The Wish". But, then I got lazy, and then the world didn't change over three hundred years. ...*sigh*
10) Alternate Endings: The most well-known one might be the first ending I posted up, in which Dawn takes the place of Whistler. Though that would have made a better impact, I felt that Dawn deserved some hero-time. Another ending I had thought of was to have Andrew take Whistler's place. I'd also written an epilogue that I'd posted up, but then taken down, because not only did I not right it good, but it downplayed the sadness I wanted for the final chapter. In the epilogue, they were all reborn, though the world was a brighter place (not fully normal, but not ignorant-Sunnydale, either), and they all had some connection to each other. They were all friends, and all had normal, happy lives. Among the characters to return from the dead were:
- Jenny Calendar (married to Giles, of course)
- Kendra
- Wesley
- Cordelia (yay!)
- Fred (yay!)
11) Epilogue Relationships: Spike and Buffy were brother and sister. NO, I'm not into the whole incest thing, because, ew. I had Spike and Buffy be siblings, because they DO love each other, I know that (see, not all B/A shippers ignore that fact), but I think it's more...familial, for lack of a better word, than romantic. They understand each other, and I see BtVS S7 Spike as more of a big brother (y'know, if you took away the whole torrid-love-affair-S6 plotline). Like I said, Giles and Jenny would have been together, Faith and Cordy would have been fraternal twin sisters, Dru and Spike would have been an item, Willow and Tara were together, Xander and Cordy were together...if I remember anything else, I'll add it later.
12) 'Tis Better to Have Lust Than Love: Hehe, "Love Thy Enemy". Maybe my most favourite chapter of this story. I had a lot of fun writing the lust-y wrongful-romance scene between Charisma and Angelus. I wanted to include Angelus somehow (C'mon, what story would be complete without our favourite evil alter-ego?), so I put him in as the role of the seductor. Oh, and let me take this opportunity to clear something up. The Powers set it up so that Charisma would 'give in' to Angelus, and then she'd get into his apartment and get the missing piece of the puzzle. The Powers knew Angelus had evidence of what went wrong the last time, and they used Charisma to get it. They didn't count on her developing the hots for the guy. She was supposed to be faking her attraction, but as we later learn, she got warm for his form, so to speak. Hehe.
13) The Soulless Hero: In "Heroes", where Charisma willingly forfeits her immortality and afterlife to power the amulet, she is turned back in to a mortal. However, she's incredibly weak, and is then easy prey for all the monsters and vampires who were too afraid to take on Buffy and Angel. I was thinking about having Angelus appear to help protect her. 'Cause he wants her to live. More specifially, he wants her to live so that he could sleep with her. But then I thought, Hey, he's evil. Why the Hell should he care if a Slayer lives, no matter how good she might throw down? Plus I wasn't sure how well it would go over in the story (Really, who wants to see Angelus being good? That's Angel's job. I dunno about the rest of you, but I like Angelus better evil.), and it's not like that would lead anywhere. It would just be a dead-end, plot-wise, since the future would be changed, anyway.
14) Name Origins: Yep, Charisma Moss is named after Charisma Carpenter, and her last name comes from a story I read, in which Faith's last name was Moss. I liked it, so I used it. Ted was named after Joyce's psycho robot boyfriend in "Ted" (BtVS S2), and Adam was named after the Frankenstein-like creation of Maggie Walsh, first discovered in "The 'I' In Team" (BtVS S4).
So there we go. My little behind-the-scenes look at my first BtVS fanfic. *sigh* I feel so proud of myself. Though the story turned out in a completely different way than I wanted it to, I feel really pleased with how it ended. Honestly, the first few chapters were garbage, but I like how it ended (even if the end result didn't match the summary I gave). One day, I will write an alternate version to this, with what I originally planned to do. We can compare, see how it goes. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing this (At 12:40 AM, that's something of a lie, but it was fun...kinda...well, if I did this when I had enough sleep, it would have been fun.).
