Andrew ambeld out, a new step in his stride. He knew exactly where Xander shopped because Warren used to go there. Though Xander got the more expensive clothes at the Goodwill store, it was still the same palce.
*I better start out subtle* Andrew thought. *I can't just change everything I own, Dawn might not even like it.* He took rasping breaths and entered the store, Payless for the Men of Sunnydale. It was strange to walk into a place that didn't have generic children's clothing like Andrew liked. He walked up to the clerk, shyly. It was a girl.
"Uh, hi," he said nervously.
"Hi," she replied in a too cheery voice. "How may I help you?"
"Uh, do you know Xander Harris?" he asked.
"Oh, yeah. He comes in here all the time. You a friend of his?"
"Yeah, you could say that. I... do have an idea what kind of clothes he would like?"
"Getting him a present?"
"Yeah, you could say that. Do you?"
"Yeah. Hold on, I'll get the perfect Xander outfit. Wait here."
"Thanks." Andrew watched the clerk go to the highest priced rack in the place and selected a blue shirt, a red shirt underneath that and tan cargoes.
"Here. Does this look like a Xander outfit to you? You probably know him better than me."
"Yeah, you could say that. Yeah, that looks perfect. He'll love it."
"Is it his birthday?"
"Uh, no. I just wanted to give him a present... for something he did for me." He grabbed the bag she handed him and scuttled out of the shop as fast as he could. But he couldn't help overhearing the clerk talking to another.
"I didn't know Xander went for guys," she whispered.
*I am not gay!* he screamed in his head. *Time to try out the outfit on the Dawnster.*
