Part Three

Buffy awoke in a dingy chamber chained to the wall. Her strength not fully back. She looked up to see a mirror in front of her. She groaned as she realized the only thing missing was her reflection. “This can’t be happening,” she said aloud. Only to be answered by a little voice she recognized too well.

“It is Buffy. Way too real,” came the voice beside her. She saw her friend Xander also chained to the wall; two little holes were visible on his neck. He was near death and Buffy knew it. She couldn’t hold back the sob that came from deep inside her.

“I am so sorry Xander,” she cried and she saw him look up at her and attempt a smile. His eyes were so filled with fear that they looked past her. It was the last thing he ever saw. He slumped over as he died. Buffy was so overwhelmed by what was happening. She was going insane. But this was the plan. She knew this is what he wanted. Angel was playing with her. He took Willow and killed Xander. But it wouldn’t end there. She was now a vampire. Because she was the slayer her soul was kept. She would have to live through all of this.

As these thoughts rushed through her mind she heard the door open from across the room. Angel walked into the light with that mock smile on his face. “It’s time to eat sweetie. You need to eat.”

“I’m not hungry.” Buffy replied with sarcasm.

“Oh, you must have thought that to be an offer. Let me repeat myself,” This time Angel voice was very loud and forceful, as if giving an order, “You need to eat!” He walked over to where she was chained and opened the chains for her. He then quickly drug her across the room, out the door and into a long dark hallway.

“Welcome, Buffy. Come sit by me,” Buffy heard. She knew that small innocent voice to be that of her best friend Willow’s.

“I’d rather not. If you don’t mind.”

“But why?” Willow sounded hurt. As if she really wanted her to sit there. Buffy new better. She knew what was in store and wanted to get as far away from these people as she could. But that wasn’t going to happen. She new Angel had the mansion guarded like crazy. There would be no chance for her to escape, especially in the condition she was in. There wouldn’t be anywhere to go even if she could get out. Angel’s minions probably had the whole city under attack. Buffy just slumped down in her seat trying to hold back the tears. She heard Angel beckon for the food to be brought in. She couldn’t keep back the tears when she realized what was for dinner. She looked up and saw the most pitiful thing she had seen since she had awakened. There was Cordelia, wearing chains and rags. Buffy had never seen her rough it before. But this wasn’t even roughing it. Her spirit had been broken. The spirit that Buffy had always secretly envied. She lowered her head down as she heard Cordy squeal when Angel and Willow took their first sip.
