Angelus awoke from sleep. He sat up, stretched, and looked at his clock. The sun had just set. He looked down at the still sleeping slayer. He had left her to sleep on the floor where she had fallen.

he though to himself

This was the chance he had been waiting for. He finally had the slayer backed into a corner with no way out.

His emotions were confusing him.

* * *
Buffy walked through the apartment. She knew she was dreaming it. In her dream she could see herself lying on the floor, asleep. She watched Angelus wake up. He stretched out and glanced at his clock.

Buffy looked out the window. The sun had set.

"Hello Buffy", a voice behind her said.

Buffy jumped in surprise and turned around. Cassandra stood behind her in an elegant white gown. She looked almost like an angel.

Buffy turned back and glanced nervously at Angelus who was now staring at down at her body looking as if he were lost in thought.

"Don't worry. He can't see us", Cassandra assured her.

"Okay, this is really giving me the wiggins so could you just do whatever you came to do so I can get BACK in my body", Buffy sayd as she glanced down at her sleeping self.

"You're not out of it, you're just able to see everything going on around you through your dreams" she answered.

"Well it still gives me the wiggs and.......and can you please make him stop staring at me like that"

"Actually he's what I came here to talk to you about", Cassandra said as she casually walked over to where he sat. She waved her hand in front of his face. He didn't respond. As if she weren't even there. She giggled with amusement.

"Okay, okay. So what do you need to tell me besides the fact that the ever so evil Angelus has just kidnapped me and is for some odd reason keeping me alive", Buffy said, getting tired of Cassandra's games.

Cassandra turned her attention back to Buffy. "I need to warn you"

"Well don't you think you could've done that earlier...oh...say sometime BEFORE Angelus beat the shit out of me and dragged me here?", Buffy said sarcastically.

Cassandra ignored her remark. "You need to know Angelus. The night when Angel's soul was leaving and Angelus was returning, Angel fought as hard as he could to stay".

Tears of pain and love for Angel began to spring to Buffy's eyes.

"Angelus won of course, but somehow some of Angel's soul got trapped inside with Angelus", Cassandra continued.

Buffy couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She missed Angel so badly that it was almost like a physical pain.

"Don't get to hopeful thought. He's still evil old Angelus as far as I could tell. But the tiny bit of Angel's soul is making him feel some things that Angel would feel if he was in control of his body".

Buffy turned to look at Angelus. He was changing her bandages as delicatly as he was capable of. He was also cursing himself for being so nice.

"But Angel's not in control" Cassandra said coldly. "And even though he's sparing your life for now, eventually the part of Angel's soul will return to him, and Angelus will be in full control again.

Buffy turned back to Cassandra with the realization of what she was saying.

"I can't tell you when it will happen", Cassandra said, answering Buffy's unspoken fear. "But when it does....I can assure you that Angelus will not have any more *good intentions* for you".

Buffy looked away to let everything sink in.

"But....Angel is in there, right?", she finally managed to ask.

"In a way...yes", Cassandra answered. "But like I said, he's there but not completely and not for very much longer".

Cassandra walked towards Buffy again.

"Listen to me", she began, "Your drugs are wearing off. I suggest you leave when he goes out to feed or suffer the consequences of staying and having him "wake up".

"I'll take my chances", Buffy whispered.

* * *
Buffy woke up to find Angelus still tending her wounds which he himself had inflicted. His gaze flickered over her face quickly but then refused to look her in the eye again. His hands moved began moving faster in a rush to get the job done now that he saw she was awake and aware of him. He finished the job and got up to go to the kitchen. Away from her.

Buffy tryed to move around.

Angel walked back into the room.

"Thanks for the bandages", Buffy said, trying to break the silence.

"I don't need your gratitude", he replied dryly.

"Well I think you do", Buffy said, completely serious.

Angelus stopped dead. He glanced at her angrily and continued to change. He pulled off his shirt and turned his back to her.

Buffy pressed on. "I think you want forgiveness for beating me up"

"Shut up or I'll kill you right now", he said. Anger flashed in his eyes like fire but he made no move to attack her.

she thought.

Buffy still lay on the floor. She had the strength to sit up or even stand up but she didn't want Angelus to see that in case she needed to take Cassandra's advice. And run.

Angelus had turned on the radio so he wouldn't have to listen to her.

Buffy closed her eyes and felt everything around her with every heightened slayer sense she had. She felt Angelus, and his presence as a vampire. She felt his calm, cool evilness that was about him. She also caught the flicker of good in him. The last remaint of Angel. The demon of Angelus was still fighting to push it back.

, she thought.

Angelus stood shirtless with his back to Buffy. She slowly and quietly got up off the floor. The radio helped to drown out some of the noise she might have been making in getting up. Buffy carefully began walking over to where Angelus still stood next to his bed, rummaging through his drawers.

she thought with a slight tinge of fear. . Her fear was quickly put out.

The radio began blaring one of her favorite songs. It also always made her feel sad.

she thought.

Buffy reached out and gently touched Angelus's shoulder in the spot that had always driven Angel crazy.

Angelus whirled around with a little gasp of surprise. Half at the sight of her right behind him and half at the feeling of her touch.

Anger began to flash in his eyes again but was buried after she began to kiss him gently on the lips. Her touch was so soft and loving.

she pleaded.

She slipped her hands around his waist and began gently running her nails up the spine of his back. The lyrics of the song began.

**And I'd give up forever to touch you, cause I know that you feel me somehow. You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be, and I don't want to go home right now.**

He slowly and unsurely began to give in to her. He began kissing her back. Finally he gave in and picked her up and gently layed her on the bed.

**And all I can taste is this moment, and all I could breath is your life. And sooner or later its over. I just don't want to miss you tonight**

Buffy ran her fingers through his hair and brushed the spot on his thigh that also made Angel crazy. Angelus pulled away, surprised at how good it felt to have her in his arms.

They continued through the night. Two became one. Angelus ignored his hunger and lust to feed on her.

* * *
Buffy woke up naked in Angel's bed. She shook her head as if to clear it and looked at the empty spot where Angelus had lay. The imprint of his body was still in the sheets that were still warm. Buffy looked around but couldn't see him. She got up and dressed quickly, feeling weird about everything that had just happened.

, she thought.

She pulled on her last shoe and tied it.

A creak in the apartment made her freeze. Buffy looked up, but it was hard to see much in the dark.

She reached out with her slayer senses and felt Angelus somewhere in the apartment. She felt his vampire presence, and his calm, cool evilness. But the flicker of good was gone. That last remaint of Angel's soul was gone.

Buffy yelled in panic in her mind.

Buffy tried to see through the curtain of darkness that seemed to cover the entire apartment like a blanket.

She reached out with her slayer senses again and tried to hone in on where he was. She couldn't get any particular sense. It seemed like he was everywhere.

she told herself.

Buffy stood slowly. She didn't like the idea of walking 25 feet to a door through nothing but darkness with a vampire somewhere in the room that was bent on killing her. It definatly wasn't something on her top ten list of things to do before she turned 18.

Another creak in the apartment made her jump.

Another creak.

Another creak.

Another creak.

Her instincts told her to duck. She did just as a knife sliced the air right were her head had been.

Buffy ran blindly to the other side of the room. It was pitch black. She tried to find the door, but couldn't see a thing. She ended up somewhere in the kitchen.

"Now Buffy...it's not very nice to run away from someone like that", he said in a teacherly reprimanding voice. "Come out and play".

Buffy was about to answer when she stopped herself.

she realized.

"Buffy?", he called out again.

She could hear him coming closer through the dark. He was coming straight towards the kitchen.

she thought poutingly, despite the danger she was in.

She quickly began feeling around for some sort of weapon. There was none. At least none she could get without her letting him know exactly where she was standing.

Buffy couldn't see much, but she could see SOME sort of shape moving in the dark.

she thought.

She raced towards it in with the full intent of slamming into it. Luckily it was him and not a wall, even thought walls don't move.

Caught off guard he dropped the knife. She pummeled him with a round-house kick and then a punch.

"Oh come on Buffy, I wasn't that bad", he said mockingly.

"Ha-ha", she retorted sarcastically.

She hit him one more time and raced to the door. Her eyes had adjusted to the dark slightly so she could barely make it out. She hit it hard and tried to open it. It was locked. She hurridly tried to unlock it but was grabbed from behind by Angelus.

"Why are you leaving? The party's just getting started", he said as he slammed her to the ground.

"I'm sorry but my mom wants me home by 10:00", she retorted.

She kicked him where it counts and ran in the other direction.

Then Buffy recalled the conversation with Angel when he first brought her to his apartment and she was surprised that it was above ground.

"Don't worry, its only got one window and its covered", he had said.

Angelus was coming at her again. she ducked he flew over her head.

She thought.

Buffy rushed to the door again and managed to get it open. She raced down the building's hallway and out the front door.

she thought as she ran into the open air. It felt good to be free. She could hear the music from the Bronze a few blocks away.

she thought.

Buffy risked a glance behind her. She didn't see Angelus following her, but that didn't mean that he wasn't. He would never give up that easily.

Buffy ran on, not stopping until she had reached the school. By the time she reached the library she was exhausted and out of breath. She burst through the doors to find Xander, Willow, and Giles at the desk.

"Buffy!", Willow called out in happiness. "We've been trying to find you for three days! Are you alright?".

"Buffy. Buffy what happened?", Giles asked as he helped her walk to a chair where she calapsed.

"Angel...kidnapped...apartment", she huffed out in between trying to take breaths.

"I told you guys we should have checked the apartment. Who's always right again Giles?", Xander said in his Xanderish humor.

Giles ignored him. "I'm just glad you are safe", he said to Buffy as he handed her a glass of water. "I'm going to go call your mother and tell her we found you. She's been worried sick about you".

Buffy gulped down the water and weakly walked to the window.

"What are you looking for?", Willow asked.

"Angel. He's not to happy that I got out", Buffy replied absently.

"I believe I speak for all of us when I say, Uh-oh", Xander said.

"Do you see him?", Buffy asked Willow.

"Guys?", Xander began

"No, do you?", Willow answered

"Guys?", Xander said again

"No. Xander do you see him?", Buffy asked, still looking out the window.

"Oh I definatly see him", he said in a wimpish voice.

Buffy whirled around to see Angelus standing in the library doorway. She immediatly put herself between him and her friends.

"Get out", she said coldly.

"Oh but this is a library. I want to tell a story", he said with a sly smile.

Buffy grabbed a stake off the desk

"Get out", she said again.

"Did you tell them about us?", he asked. "About tonight?"

"I don't need to", she said with venom

"No no, let the man speak", Xander said.

"Oh I'll let Buffy fill you in on our little "adventure", he said with a smirk.

Buffy threw the stake at him. It hit its mark directly. His right shoulder.

"That was a warning shot. I don't have to miss", she said.

Angelus pulled the stake out of his shoulder and held it in pain.

"I'll see you around then" he said as he stumbled out of the library. "You can count on it".

After he had gone the tension in the room began to relax.

"What was he talking about?" Giles asked. He had watched the whole thing from his office.

"Oh, its nothing.", she said, giving Willow an I'll-tell-you-about- it-later-when-Giles-and-Xander-aren't-around look.

"Yes, well..are you all right then?", he asked again since she never really answered him the first time.

"Fine", she said.

Inside was a huge emotional turmoil though.

She thought as she rolled her eyes. She felt guilty about what had happened, but pushed it out of her mind. Angelus was Angelus again. That was that. The words to her favorite song by "Iris" began playing in her head again.

**And I'd give up forever to touch you, cause I know that you feel me somehow.

**You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be, and I don't want to go home right now.

**And all I can taste is this moment, and all I can breath is your life. And sooner or later its over, I just don't want to miss you tonight.

**And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everythings made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.

**And you can't fight the tears that ain't comin'. Or the moment of truth in your lies. When everything feels like the movies, yeah you'd bleed just to know you're alive

**And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everythings made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.....**
