Sunnydale Park Center

Giles saw the blood on her lips and the marks on her neck, "Try CPR. It might work, but if it doesn't, we'll just have to wait till tomorrow. When she rises." Giles didn't know what was going to happen, but he knew she had won.

The CPR didn't work. Oz called Willow for transportation and informed the women that it had worked, but they were still unconscious.

When the car arrived, Xander carried Buffy and Oz and Giles carried Angel.

They settled Buffy and Angel into her basement to avoid sunlight.

All they could do now was wait.

Buffy's House Basement

At sunset, Angel woke, beside him was Buffy. She looked so beautiful and peaceful. Then he remembered what he had done. For two years he had tormented her and she did not kill him, but she ended up dying. Becoming what she hated.

He paused. He was confused.

He got up and went up the stairs. He found them all in Buffy's living room. They were all sitting on the couch, waiting.

Giles was the first to notice him, "Angel!"

They all turned, "Are you alright?" Willow was the one to ask that.

"Something's missing." He replied.

"What to you mean?" Giles had no idea what Angel was talking about.

"I don't have the hunger any more. There's no voice in my head trying to tell me to be vicious and violent. The demon is gone." He was not used to the feeling, but he liked not to have to fight it all the time.

"You mean that the demon is dead. It is no longer in your body. Amazing."

"Angel, look at this," Xander said from behind him.

Angel turned and saw the cross, he winced expecting pain, but there was none. No burning pain came that had always come when he saw a cross. He grabbed the cross from Xander; "It doesn't hurt any more."

Everyone was happy for him.

"There's something I need to say," Angel started, "I'm sorry and if you don't trust me any more, I'll understand."

"It wasn't your fault. You weren't in control." They all tried to console, but he felt it was his fault.

"What about Buffy?" Willow finally asked.

"We better go see if she's alright," said Giles.

Buffy's House Basement

Buffy slowly got up and felt her whole body protest in agony. She reached up and touched her face. It was smooth, no nasty vampire wrinkles.

"Buffy? Are you alright?" Xander asked.

"Xander?" she looked behind him and saw that everyone was there. She turned to Giles, "What happened? I know I was supposed to become what I hated most, but I don't seem to be one." She touched her face again, just to make sure.

"This is very odd. Apparently we will have to find out what happened to you."

She noticed that her heart was still beating, and she was still breathing. "This doesn't make sense. I shouldn't have to breathe. My heart should be still. Not the other way around."

Buffy's Porch

She was standing alone outside.

She turned around to go back inside, but she saw Angel behind her. She looked him in the eyes and saw the grief there and the love and she walked right to him and hugged him.

"It wasn't your fault. Don't even try to blame yourself. We both did something wrong. I went against my duty and your body did what the demon wanted it to do. You weren't there. You were far away, watching, trying to stop yourself, but you didn't have the strength to do it. I know I did exactly the same thing." She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him, "I love you Angel."

"I love you too, Buffy, but I still feel guilty."

"You'll get over it. I'll make you." She smiled and they watched the sunrise, together.

"I guess I'm no ordinary vampire." She whispered.

"And neither am I." Angel said against her lips, "Neither am I." They shared a long passionate kiss.

"Apparently, Angel is still immortal, but is not affected by the sun, crosses or holy water. I think that once the demon left your body, you became immune to those things again. You can from now on walk in the daylight like any ordinary human."

"Will this last?" Angel asked.

"Yes. I think so. The demon is dead. You said yourself that it was dead and you felt it, so there is no way it will be able to take over your body again. One thing though. I think you might have to start eating regular food. Your body now needs sustenance."

Everyone around them was glad that Angelus would no longer return. Only Angel was here now and he was here to stay.

"What about me?" asked Buffy.

"You are technically a vampire, but your slayer blood seems to have prevented a demon from getting inside your body. You can walk in the sunlight, see crosses, bathe in holy water and none of it will affect you. You strength has doubled and it seems that you may be immortal also, but we'll have to find a test for you."

"Wait a minute," Xander called.

"What is it, Xander?" asked Giles.

"Since Buffy did die and she is a slayer, does that mean another has be called?"

"I never thought of that. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out."

The End!
