The gang had found Buffy in a hotel in London after returning from her talk with the old ones.
"What are you guys doing here?" she asked, when she found them.
"We came after you," Giles stated.
"Did you not go to the old ones after all?" Willow asked.
"I went. I got my answers. Got a gift."
"Really? They let you live?" Giles asked excitedly.
"The trick is to visit them when they're awake."
"How often does that happen?" asked Xander.
"Once a decade."
"Boy, they sleep a lot!" exclaimed Xander.
"Yeah, well they're the old ones, they need their rest," Buffy rationalized.
"Could we get back on track, please? Buffy, what did they give you?" inquired Giles.
"They gave me my powers back."
"But I thought they were the ones who took them away?" Willow asked, confused.
"Another set of old ones."
"So now we stand a chance at keeping the balance. Go team!" Xander said happily.
"Yes," Buffy agreed. She didn't want them to know that she still had to take Alex away from Willow. She would have to do it quietly, when the time comes and never come back again.

* We see that the old ones have restored your powers. Why do you seek us now? *
"I wanted to tell you that I wouldn't take the child away. At least not until the time comes for him to help."
* That will only prolong your friends suffering. For she will have already gotten close to the child and will agonize more over the child's disappearance. *
"Will's strong and I'm not going to keep him forever. Just until I need his help."
* The child cannot grow like a normal boy. He needs to be taught, and trained to use his powers. *
"I'll handle that."
* Then you are not going to change your decision, not even if we order it? *
"Nope. Today I do what I feel is right."
* So be it. We hope you achieve what you seek, but do not blame us if the outcome is not what you desire. *
"Don't worry. I'll make it work."
