Willow looked down at her son, "I'm not going to let her take my baby."

"I don't think she's going to if we don't let her," Oz said quietly.

"But if we don't let her, she's going to die," stated Xander, "and I'm sorry to say this, but without her, the good on this planet doesn't stand a chance."

"There has to be another way," Cordy said quietly.

"There isn't. The prophecy states very clearly what needs to be done. Buffy even said, that if she doesn't give the powers over to the child, she will die," Angel spoke very softly.

"Giles, is there really nothing that we can do?" Oz inquired.

"I'd have to consult my books, but I don't think there is much that can be done," Giles said, but he sounded very doubtful that there was any other outcome then the ones presented.

"I'll help you," Angel offered.

"Thank you... I'll inform you if we have any news," Giles said to Willow and Oz and then he and Angel left the hospital room.

"Don't worry, baby, we'll think of something," Oz reassured Willow, but he had doubts too.

Buffy had left the hospital and was roaming the city.

She didn't have much to do these days. Didn't have a job - not one that had strict hours anyway - and she didn't have a family to go home to. She spent her time killing demons and guarding the people that meant the most to her.

Buffy had stopped in the park, when Xander and Cordelia found her.

"Hey Buffy!" they said and sat down on the bench beside her.

"Hey," she said half-heartedly.

"We wanted to know why you didn't come back earlier? Why chose today of all days to return?" Xander asked to break the awkward silence.

"I didn't choose today to come back... I was told to come here and steal my best friend's baby. I never wanted her to find out. I was told that the doctor would be working for the agency and would have taken the baby away. He was suppose to tell Willow that her baby had died. I know that sounds mean, but the agency tries their hardest to keep their work secret," Buffy explained.

"Being told her baby died isn't much better," Cordy accused.

"I know. I argued with the agency for months about this. That it couldn't be Willow's child, but all the signs pointed to him. The date, the alignment of the stars, the demon activity in the area. I have been following Willow for months. The bad guys knew that her child would be the one to stop them. They were sending as many demons as possible to kill her before the child was born. She almost caught me a couple times. I had been busy killing a demon sent to kill her, when she showed up. I managed to kill it and hide, before she saw me."

"Why didn't you tell us sooner? We could've helped," Xander demanded.

"I didn't get the choice to. I have to do what I'm told or the world ends. If I had told you before, you would have all died because of this knowledge. You were never meant to know."

"And now that we know?" Cordy persisted.

"Then I have to return to face punishment."

"What kind of punishment?"

"Death."
