Are You Sure?
NOTE: THIS EPISODE CONTAINS AN UNTRUE ANGEL EVENT, BUT IT MAKES A GOOD STORY LINE SO I USED IT
PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY
-Buffy and Oz decided to have a secret romance
-Oz wants to heat things up
"Oz, are you sure about this?"
"Buffy, I want you more than anything, now."
"Me...me too. " Oz pulled down Buffy's shirt sleeves. "Wait. What the hell am I doing? You are my best friend's lover! How can we be doing this? How can we be doing this right now, when you guys juat got back together?"
"Buffy..."
"No. No. We're done. I don't want you any more. We are through."
"Buffy, don't walk away from me yet! I have to tell you something about Giles!"
"You're going to bring Giles in to change the subject?"
"He's dead. Buffy, Giles is dead."
"What?"
"He was shot."
"When?"
"Just a minute ago. I went for coffee, and... he's dead."
"But...why?"
"I don't know."
"Wait, are you just doing this so I'll get all helpless? I told you, we are through, Oz."
"Buffy, he's dead."
"You're serious! Oh my God!"
Buffy ran out of the house, almost dying inside. That's exactly how she felt. She kissed her best friend's boyfriend, she almost made love to him, and her father figure was dead. She knew she shouldn't have left him alone. She knew she should have been there to defend her father. Watcher. Her watcher. She should have been there to defend her Watcher.
But, should she not have been with Oz, her feelings would have grown, and Willow some how may have found out about her feelings. But now, now Willow had nothing to find out. There was absolutely nothing between Oz and Buffy, there never will be. Not if she could prevent it.
She ran to the Diner, just in time of sunset, so everyone else was arriving. She spoke to Oz. "Oz, did you tell them about Giles, yet?"
"Willow, just Willow."
"Right, because she's the one you love."
"Why are you acting like this, all of a sudden, Buffy? Did I do anything wrong?"
"I think you know what's wrong."
"So, if I'm hearing right.... Oz, you went to Buffy before you came to me about this?"
"It's just... I knew where Buffy was, is all, I knew I could find her. I thought maybe she could tell me where you were."
"And how? How did you know where she was? You know, you going to her first isn't going to help me get over our fight."
"Willow, honest, I was looking for you first, and I couldn't find you."
"You couldn't find me? If you really wanted to, then you would have."
"You don't have to worry, Willow. I know whre he was the whole time."
"Dawn?"
"That's right. Little Dawn knows something for a change. And there are certain people here who might not want me to tell."
"Go ahead, Dawny."
"Well, I hid behind the van until everyone was gone. Then, I thought I could see what Oz was doing, to see if he was thikning about you. First he was here, talking to Giles. Then he left. He walked for a while, then he ran into Buffy. They talked a while, then... then they kissed. Then they separated. Then Oz came back here to find out Giles is dead."
"He's dead?"
"Not now, Andrew."
"Okay, what happens next?"
"He leaves to go find Willow, but finds Buffy again. They talk, and kiss again. Then they leave. They go to a house. An abandoned house. A few minutes later, Buffy comes out of the house, obviously angry. Oz chases after, but he's too late."
"You took my best friend to an abandoned house? My boyfriend did that to me? After you guys promised nothing else was going to happen?"
"Willow, baby, we didn't mean for anything to happen."
"So something did happen?"
"He seduced me."
"He seduced you?"
"We went to the house, he started to take my shirt off, to talk him out of it I kept asking if he was sure, he kept saying yes. So I left."
"Is that right?"
"Yeah. Yeah, that's right. Willow, your boyfriend cheated on you and tried to make love to me."
"Oz?"
"No, she's lying. That is not how it happened."
"Then what did happen, Oz?"
"Dawn was right at first. I came in here and talked to Giles. Then, I went my separate ways like everyone else. On my way, I accidentally ran into Buffy. We talked, we kissed. She tried to call me back, but I denied her. Then she 'convinced' me that we had feelings for each other. Then, we almost kissed two more times. Then I left. I came back here, then I found out Giles is dead. I went to go find Buffy, looking for you on the way. I found Buffy at the park. We kissed. She decided she doesn't like to kiss in public so we went to an old house. I started to take her shirt off, she was as into it as I was. Then she decided she didn't want me."
"But you want her? You want my best friend?"
"No. Weren't you listening? She tried to convince me we had feelings for each other."
"So you believed her and almost..."
"Willow, please, I don't want to be with Buffy, Buffy doesn't want to be with me. It was nothing."
"So, now I should just forgive you? Again? First Veruca, now Buffy?"
"Willow, it isn't like that."
"Actually, it is completely like that. You didn't mean to sleep with Veruca, you never meant to to do it. And now, you didn't mean to almost do my best friend."
"Willow, you are acting like a child."
"No. Oz, no I'm not. Did you ever stop to think that you're acting too much like an adult?"
"Can we please just talk? Can we just go somewhere and talk?"
"Fine. We will be around back of the diner, and we'll be back here in ten minutes."
Oz and Willow walked around back.
"So, Buffy, you and Oz?"
"Xander, it isn't like that."
"Then please explain what it is that you are doing to the girl I grew up with."
"Fine."
Buffy explained the entire story. What happened in the van, what happened when they met up later on accident. She explained that she only did those things because it was the heat of the moment. She explained that she wanted nothing to do with Oz.
"You're done with him? Just like you were done with Spike? You were using him? Man, you sure like to do that."
"If you want to get rid of me, Xander, tell me to my face, don't use contex clues."
"I want you gone."
"Then I'm going."
"What, Oz, what do you have to explain to me? Are you going to kill Buffy, too? Is that what you need to explain?"
"Willow, I love you. I always have, I always will. I don't care if you get that just yet, because I do. I know that I will do anything for you. I would never cheat on you. Never."
"Then why did you?"
"We only kissed, and she's made it pretty clear to me she doesn't want me anymore. And, Willow, Willow, I don't want her anymore. I really don't thik I ever did. It was all a game of hers."
"Buffy doesn't play games like that."
"Maybe she does, you know, since Spike died. Didn't she love him?"
"Only sort of."
"Right, only sort of."
"What is your point, Oz?"
"Well, when she died and then came back, she used Spike. Then Spike died and came back, so she's using me. Me, the one no one really knows but you."
"Spike's back?"
"You guys didn't know? I figured Angel would've told you."
"And how the hell was he supposed to reach us? We have to tell Buffy."
"Willow, wait. Are we cool?"
"I guess you're right, we are kind of going through a rough patch, so Buffy needed to do something to get her mind off of it."
"That's not what I said."
"It is now, Oz, baby, I realize I need you, now more than ever. Come on, we gotta get Buffy."
Oz and Willow ran hand in hand out to the van. "Where's Buffy? We have big news!"
"You aren't....getting married?"
"No,no, but where's Buffy?"
"Oh, Xander made her leave."
"Why?"
"Because, Willow, you are my best friend, I couldn't let her be around to influence you and Oz."
"Oz and I are staying together, I forgave him."
"So, I just pushed away my other best friend, from all of us, for no reason?"
"Pretty much, Xander. Why can't you ever let a problem be solved the logical way?"
"Willow, I'm sorry."
"Yeah, well I've done her that enough today. I have to find her. Which way'd she go?"
"That way." Dawn pointed left. "Willow, I'm happy for you. That you worked it out."
"Thanks Dawny."
"Yeah, thanks, Dawn."
"Did I speak to you?"
"No. Sorry."
"Come on, we have to tell her."
Willow and Oz ran about the town, yelling for Buffy. "I think I might know where she is," said Oz.
"Where?"
"The park."
"Why?"
"Just trust me."
Sure enough, Buffy was sitting on the same bench as before. "What? What? Do you want me out of the town, too?"
"Buffy, Oz and I are willing to forget it all. Besides, he has big news. Go ahead, tell her."
"Well, Buffy, I swung by L.A., to the old hotel, you know, where Angel worked? Well, word on the dtreet was he was head of Wolfram and Hart. So I checked it out, and sure enough, he's the big cheese."
"Is that all you've got to say?"
"No, there's more. So, I checked out the firm, and guess what? Spike's alive. He's non-corporeal, but he's alive."
"Spike's alive?"
"Yup. So you wanna go see him? We can head up there tommorrow."
"No. No, I can't. I... I wanna go somewhere fun. Not L.A. Not to see both my ex-hunnies."
"Well, that's cool."
"Yeah, so Buffy, you wanna just start over? Pretend like we just pulled into this town, and nothing happened? Like Giles was shot back in Sunnydale?"
"Yes. I don't eant to remember any of it. And Oz, I'm sorry."
"Yeah. You know, Dawn's pretty pissed at me."
"She gets that way. Teenagers."
I KNOW IT HAS BEEN HORT, BUT THIS SEEMED LIKE THE RIGHT TIME TO END IT, SO, HOPE YOU LIKE.
