Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story, although they have been twisted for my own use. I apologize profusely to Joss Whedon for my butchering of his creation. Buffy The Vampire Slayer is owned by Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, Sandollar Television, Kuzui Enterprises, 20th Century Fox Television and the WB Television Network. Wow, that's a mouthful!
Author's Notes: Everything in the are not thoughts but words spoken in Dramoco's language.

Part Six

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the courtyard of a rather expensive looking house, a man in a neatly pressed dark suit poured a dipper full of dark liquid into a stone pool. He muttered an ancient language under his breath.

He continued to scoop the liquid into the pool.

"Oh come on now," he said. "I haven't got all night."

a deep voice boomed from the pool of liquid in the same language the man had spoken. < I crave power. Set me free. >

And I doubt you could urge it along you deluded old windbag.

Daemon gestured towards another man who held a young woman by the shoulders. She didn't look happy to be there, not that Daemon blamed her.

"Don't worry sweets," he said. "Soon all your troubles will be over."

Daemon took the woman's hand and pulled her gently to the liquid pool. She made a small squeak of protest.

Daemon said. "I know you didn't understand a word of that sweets, but don't worry, you don't need to."

He pulled her hands into the pool of liquid and held them there.

The woman suddenly screamed. She thrashed about, trying to get free.

"We'll have none of that. Boys? A hand if you don't mind?"

Two men came over and gripped her by the shoulders. The woman began to glow a soft reddish light. Slowly, her screams began to die down until she was silent. Her eyes glazed over, and she slumped leaned forward slightly.

"Alright boys, she's done. Take her and get rid of any ID. You know the drill."

The two men led the now silent woman away.

Yeah, let your power grow. When it does, I'll be free of you."

"Daemon. Sir?" A man came into the courtyard looking nervous.

"Yes Paul? What is it?"

"News of the Watcher. She's in town."

"What? I thought I had you assign someone to take care of her. Wasn't that my exact words? 'Assign someone to take care of the meddlesome Watcher.'"

"Sir, yes. And I did."

"You didn't have her killed?"

"I-it wasn't my decision sir. I simply told the vampire to make sure that she wouldn't be able to bother us."

"That's it," Daemon muttered shaking his head. "He sent a vampire. My god, what am I paying these guys for? Don't you know you can't trust vampires to do the job right?" he said louder "They are always thinking with their teeth. Paul, come here."

"Yes sir?"

"I thought you would."

"What's that sir?" Paul asked anxiously.

Daemon took the man's hands in his own. He cursed himself for letting someone else take care of a job he should have dealt with himself.

"Oh well, she's easily dealt with. If first you don't succeed and all that."

With his mind still on his plans, Daemon thrust Paul's hands into the pool of liquid.

"Sir?" Paul said nervously. "Sir? This is Dramoco's…sir?"

"Hush Paul I'm trying to think. I can't think if you're moaning about so. Now be a good little sacrificial lamb, and let your Lord suck you dry."

Daemon remained absentminded as Paul screamed until he fell into a glassy eyed silence. After simply pushing the drained man to the side, two men came out of the shadows and led Paul away.

< I can feel it Daemon. I will be free soon. The full moon will be my night. >

"Yes, yes, you will be free, the world will shake, hell will break loose. So sure of that are you?

Daemon looked over the few remaining men left in the courtyard. Inside he was still angry with the failure.

"You," Daemon said pointing. "What's your name?"

"Trevor sir."

"Trevor, good name. Tell me something Trevor. I pay you guys pretty well right?"

Daemon came close to Trevor with a personable look on his face.

"Of course sir. Pretty well."

"Well, how would you like a raise?"

"There it is, that greedy little gleam in his eyes. How could I ever doubt it? They're all the same. It's true what they say, the love of money is the root of all evil. Suppose I should know." Daemon thought to himself.

"I can see you're a trustworthy kinda guy Trevor. You'd never fail me. So I'm gonna offer you a raise. Thing is, you have to earn it." He said out loud.

"Yes sir."

"Good man. Go and find her. I don't care what that idiot vampire did to her. You are going to find her and you are going to stop her. But first, find out who she's talked to. I can't imagine she's remained silent after what's happened now. And if she has, she's stupider than I thought. Don't kill her. Not yet. Just find out what exactly she knows, find out who she told it to, and oh, pick me up some toothpaste will you?"

"Sir?"

Daemon slung an arm around Trevor and smiled.

"Good man," he said. "I can tell you're going to do me proud. And when Dramoco's Ascension comes, well, I'll make you a king or something. You'd like that? Sure you would."
