PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY
-Not much happened.
-The gang decided they all needed some time alone.
-While Buffy was walking alone, she realized a deep secret about herself
-Oz and Buffy kissed once more
Willow definately couldn't find out. Buffy began to run after Oz. "OZ! OZ WAIT!"
"What? Buffy, what do you want?"
"I need to know that you won't tell Willow what happened here. You won't tell Willow. You won't tell Xander. Or Giles or Dawn or Andrew. You know that if anyone finds out, I will hunt you down and I will kick your ass."
"Got it, Buffy, I got it."
"Oz, I'm sorry."
"Yeah, I bet you are."
"Oz wait, can we please just sit somewhere and talk? Please? I... need to do something to get over you, I think talking will help."
"What? What could you possibly need to tell me?"
"I need to tell you that I don't want to want you, Oz. You think I really would want to want my best friend's boyfriend? Well, you're dead wrong. I kissed you, Oz, and it set me off."
"Yeah, whatever. Just let me go, please. Just don't bother me any more."
"Oz, wait."
"Buffy, please."
"Oz."
"Buffy, let me warn you. The last time I came back and thought I was cured, I got angry and went wolfy."
"Oz."
"No, Buffy."
"Oz, please."
"No."
"Oz, if you walk away from me right now you will regret it."
"Why? Why Buffy? You have feelings for me, not the other way around."
"Oz, I need you."
"No, no, Willow needs me, you just have an obsession."
"Fine leave, leave. Just tell me you won't tell anyone we kissed again."
"I won't tell anyone you kissed me. You think I..."
"No, Oz. We. We kissed. If I'm not mistaken, you said you would kiss me back."
"You think I want to get into more trouble with the girl I love?"
"Oz, if you want to go, like you've clearly stated several times, you'll go now."
"I'm going."
"Then please hurry."
"I...can't."
"It's because you feel it, too."
"No, no."
"Yes, you do. You wouldn't have kissed me back if you didn't feel it."
"No, Buffy. I don't feel anything. You're just refusing to let it go. I didn't want to kiss you."
"When you don't want to kiss, you don't." (Taken from Tara in Tabula Rasa when she said "When you don't want to fight you don't fight.) "You do feel it."
"Buffy, I don't know what you're talking about."
"Face it. We have feelings for each other. We'll just have to get past it. We.... we'll find a way to get past it. Oz, I don't intend on liking you like this."
"Me either."
"We can do it."
"What?!"
"No! No, I mean, we can do this, get past this."
"Not...together...."
"No."
"Good. So, I better go."
"Yeah, you better..."
"Buffy?"
"Oz?"
"Buffy."
"Oz." Oz started to lean toward Buffy, but she pushed him away. "No, twice is twice too many."
"Maybe just once too many."
"Maybe. So, if it's just once too many, maybe we can risk it."
"Maybe. We can. Risk. Another...."
Buffy leaned to Oz and started to kiss him agaim, butpulled back. "No, no Oz."
"But, Buffy, you're the one that said you needed me."
"I did. I said that. But, I can't mean it Oz. I want you so bad, but we can't ever be together."
"I guess you're right."
"So, we'd better be separating now."
"You and Willow are separating? Then maybe we have a chance..."
"No. I meant you and me."
"I knew that. Remember. Don't tell anyone."
"Not a soul."
"Right. Oz, I'm sorry."
"Right."
With that, Oz left Buffy standing as he ventured off to explore the rest of the town. "I can't believe I want Oz. It's totally unexpected."
A stranger came up to Buffy and spoke to her. "Honey, you really should check into a facility."
"I'm not crazy, just taken aback."
"Right. You really should get help."
"I'm not crazy!"
"Sure you aren't."
Buffy didn't know what to do. She was into her the love of Willow's life, whom she'd kissed two and a half times in the past few hours, and he was into her. She was horrified that Willow, that someone, would find out. She could just run away, and have no reason to come back. "No reason but Oz." she thought. "No. I am done with Oz."
She walked around the corner. A park. She could sit down, get stuff off her mind. Get Oz off her mind. Yeah, just relax. She walked over to a bench next to a man made pond and sat down. Suddenly, she just started crying. And crying and crying. This made her realize how horrible the world could be sometimes. Here she was, crying her brains out, and none of the, let's say 50, other people in the park around her didn't notice. Not one person stopped to say: "Is something wrong?" Or "Can I help you with something?" Or "Get the hell out of this park, it's supposed to be happy."
She didn't half-expect this life to be so hard. She expected it to be easier than slaying. She was just a kid when she started slaying, how was she supposed to know how to live this life?
Oz walked down the road. He couldn't stop thinking about Buffy. And about how Willow would react if she ever found out. He decided to head back to the van, possibly take a nap. Clear his head, and then think about how much he loves Willow. He walked for a while until he saw the diner. Maybe he'd grab some coffee.
He stepped into the dner. There was police tape wrapped around a few tables and a booth. "What's going on?"
"Someone's been shot," said a policeman.
"Is there identification?"
"No. No liscense. Not even a wallet."
"Can I see the body?"
"No. No one's allowed to see the body. In fact, we've had to escort everyone out of here. You need to go."
"Look, a friend of mine was in here when I left."
"I'm sure he's fine."
"Look, trust me, with my job experience, I'm sure I can see the body."
"Mortician?"
"...Yeah."
"Fine. Maybe you can... I don't know...mortice him?"
"I quit that job a long time ago."
"Fine, whatever, if you think you can handle it..."
The overly-large policeman lifted the sheet that covered the body.
"Oh my God! Giles!"
"You know this man? This is your friend?"
"Yeah, he's like a father to my girlfriend."
"Really? So, what was that name?"
"Uhh, Rupert Giles."
"You got an age?"
"I don't know, maybe late 40s, early 50s."
"You know his occupation?"
"Wa...no."
"Single? Married? And, if possible, more than one person in his life?":
"What, no, no. I only... he was single."
"Okay, thank you. You're going to have to get out of here now."
"Right."
"Wait, just a few more things."
"Anything."
"You say you were close. Umm, your girlfriend. Can I get some names of these people who were like family?"
"Well, my girlfriends..girlfriend... Willow. Willow Rosenberg."
"Alright. Anyone else?"
"And Buffy Summers. And Dawn Summers. And Xander Harris."
"And your name, sir?"
"Oz... Daniel Osbourne."
"Thank you."
"Yeah, sure. I gotta find Buffy."
"What about your girlfriend?"
"Her, too. It's just that, Buffy was closer to him."
"Yeah, you go, get out of here. You got some serious coping to do, man."
Oz ran out the door, as fast as he could to the place where he first found Buffy. Through the door he heard the policeman say, "Someone's given me an I.D. on the victim. Rupert Giles. Late 40s early 50s. "
Oz ran until he stood in exactly the same spot he stood when he kissed Buffy. He flashed back.
"Please don't say you..."
"I have feelings for you, now."
"Buffy, no, you can't."
"I know, but it's like.... I can't help it."
"Buffy no."
"Oz."
"No."
"Kiss me."
"I'll kiss you."
He couldn't believe that he did that, that he kept thinking about it, that deep down, he wanted more. Willow. What was he going to tell her? He wasn't. He wouldn't tell her. He ran back to the spot where he'd seen Buffy last. Damn! She wasn't there! He ran to the corner. He heard someone crying in the park. He turned into it it and walked to where the muffled crying was coming from, hoping that that he could help the person. He didn't know it was Buffy until he saw her. "Buffy? What's wrong? You aren't crying because we can't be together, are you?"
"No. No. OZ? No. I'm confused is all. I can't deal with this secret romance we have."
"We have a secret romance? Does this mean we're secretly going out?"
"It better! We kissed twice. And, I don't want to secretly go out with you, but I think it'll help me get over you."
"Good plan."
"Yeah."
"So if we're going out....secretly going out, I can kiss you as long as no one knows?"
"Of course."
"Like now?"
"I don't see anyone familiar." Oz leaned forward and kissed Buffy gently on the lips, and gradually, the kiss began to get more intimate.
"Buffy, I want you."
"I want you, too."
"But.. I can't have you." He said between kisses.
"I know. I know. Let's go somewhere more private. I don't like public."
Oz and Buffy ran across the street. They walked a long way until they found an abandoned house. "Let's go in here."
"Yeah, yeah, okay."
"They ran through the door. Oz pushed Buffy against the wall and began to kiss her. "Buffy. I need you."
"I need you too." Oz started to remove Buffy's shirt. "Oz, Oz, are you sure?"
"Positive."
TO BE CONTINUED....]
I will be going back to school on Wednesday, so there will only be a few more chapters posted. Oh, and by the way, try and think about the Oz/Buffy relationship as the Anya/Spike relationship in season 6.
