A week has past and no word about Angel or from him. Buffy worried about him constantly. She stayed at the school after classes were over for a couple of hours. She just sat in the back corner of the library. There was nothing Giles could do. Buffy has sunk into a new low of depression. Finally, the sky turned black and the janitor kicked Buffy out. She slowly started to walk home. Buffy stopped in front of the Bronze, where she remembered how Angel saved her life and killed Darla. Tears involuntarily fell. Suddenly, she felt their presence.
"Get out you vampire scum! And let me do some damage!" She cried out, venting her anguish at her loss. Two vampires flew out and attacked her, they were young and inexperienced. Buffy disposed of them easily. "Is this the best you can throw at me?! You are pathetic!" she cried out.
"Really?" a familiar voice appeared. Buffy turned around.
"Angel?" Buffy has never felt this much relieve and joy in her life. She has found him. Buffy ran to Angel and was stunned when he grabbed her collar and tossed her away like a rag doll. "What's wrong with you?" she cried out. Buffy got up and screamed. Angel has turned into his vampire form. It wasn't like Buffy hadn't seen it before, but she thought Angel had returned. But now, he was even further away than before. Buffy knew that her interference has turned Angel to what he was a century ago, a homicidal animal. She couldn't bring herself to kill Angel and he took it to his advantage. He grabbed Buffy, who had given up all resistance, and bent to bite her neck. Suddenly, Angel howled. A arrow protruded from his thigh. Angel dropped the slayer and saw Giles holding a crossbow.
"Get away from her." Angel backed away and disappeared into the night.

"How is she?"
"In shock." Voices floated around Buffy, she refused to recognize any of them. She could only see Angel, poised to kill her.
"I can't believe it. We all thought that Buffy and Angel was going to live happily ever after but Darla kidnapped him and turned him into a vampire and now he attacked Buffy and this is really really bad." Willow stammered out.
"Angel? Why?" Buffy whispered. Her eyes unfocused. She snapped out of it only to break down and cried her heart out. It pained Giles to see the little girl like this. She was so young. Too young.
Finally, Buffy fell asleep.
Hours later, Buffy finally woke up in Willow's house. Her parents were away, so the gang could stay there for awhile. Willow has phoned Buffy's mom and told her that Buffy was sleeping over. They were going to need that time.
Buffy's eyes were open, but she didn't utter a word. Playing over and over in her head was Angel, in vampire form, ready to take her blood. She remembered Giles telling her that under no circumstances were a slayer's blood be allowed to be taken by a vampire. They didn't know what it could do, but it was best not to try. It was assumed by the vampire community (ha!) that a slayer's blood could increase one's powers tremendously.
Xander noticed that Buffy has woken up. "Hey! She's awake." Giles and Willow hurried over. Giles knelt down beside the bed. Buffy did not feel comfort near her friends.
"Buffy, tell us what happened." Giles requested. Buffy didn't answer. She couldn't. The scene may be playing in her head, but if she didn't say it out loud, it might go away. Just a bad dream, it would go away soon. "Buffy. You have to tell us."
Buffy told herself. She couldn't deny it. Angel has turned. Accepting the truth only made it harder. A lump decided to rise in her throat. She tried to hold back her tears. she told herself. But they fell anyways. First a couple, then a downpour. Buffy turned away from her friends and cried out loud. Willow tried to comfort her, didn't work.
Giles got up and sighed. The young girl was so vulnerable now.
Giles thought to himself. He knew he shouldn't, but he had to. It was his duty and hers.
Nothing really went wrong with the procedure. It was the interference of the Master Vamp that ruined it all.
It killed Xander to see Buffy like this, so pained, so depressed. When Angel first went away, at least Buffy still interacted with the rest of society. But now... she has cut herself off completely. Buffy has pushed even Willow away. Xander didn't want Angel and Buffy together. But if the cost was this, then he most certainly didn't want that to have happened. But it was too late. What has happened has happened and there was no turning back.
Buffy thought before lapsing into a fit of tears once again.

"You did well sweetheart. Even though you didn't get to kill that bitch of a slayer." Darla purred into Angel's ears after he returned. His leg has healed nice and neatly. Darla was actually happy. Her walk had bounce and her hair just managed to shine a shade brighter. And having Angel around would take a load off her work. Not to mention his gorgeous company was so wonderful.
Angel was silent. Somehow, just right beneath the surface of his thoughts, he knew what he did was wrong. A nag of doubt. Angel pushed it away. He was a new man, or rather, vampire. No more inhibitions. So what if he couldn't see the sun, the moon was so much more beautiful.
Suddenly, an image of Buffy popped into his head. That girl, almost a shadow of a memory that was, trying to become once again. He had feelings for that girl. Angel pushed that away too.
