Angel would observe later, by himself or perhaps to Buffy before she left, that ninety percent of a good battle was spent waiting, so by the time one arrived at the kicking ass part, one was too exhausted for it to be any fun.
That didn't apply this time. The particular battle was fun.
For one thing, the lawyers didn't even seem to see them. "Tara," Angel whispered to Cordelia. "She used the link Wolfram and Hart built to Willow's power to set up this static field for craziness."
"How come we're not affected?"
Angel chopped up a couple of unresisting evil demons. "Who says we're not?"
Even injured, Cordelia wasn't bad with her sword. The vampires who had been in the meeting were mostly dust before Angel could get out his stake.
"You've been doing what I wanted all along," came Lilah's voice, but since she seemed to think they were in the next room, it didn't do her much good. Cordelia gave a wicked laugh. The next time they had a bitch contest, she had ammo.
Doyle smashed the magic-draining snow globe. There wasn't much doubt that he had done something major, with the white flash and weird internal breaking sensation.
"Sewers," Angel yelled. "Not that I wouldn't like to fight my way out of Wolfram and Hart," he added, staking two vampires.
"Isn't it gonna burst into flames or something?" said Doyle.
The fire alarms went off.
They got out of there.
