Joyce Summers sat in front of the TV. Even though her daughter had repeatedly told her not to, Joyce couldn't help but worry about Buffy. It was nearly 11:00p.m. and she still sat, perched on the lounge watching the late night news bulletin

She was relived to see that the headlines were nothing out of the ordinary. A service station had been robbed, a local park had been trashed and there had been a tomb graffitied in one of the cemeteries on the outside of town.

After sitting for a moment, a thought suddenly hit Joyce and she had to wonder if it had been Buffy who had been responsible for the desecration of the tomb. After all, vampires rose from tombs and Buffy was always lurking around the cemeteries late at night

A shiver ran up her spine as she thought about her daughter lurking around dead bodies. Even though she had known about her daughter being the 'Chosen One' for quite some time, she still had trouble accepting every aspect of her daughter's duties.

The next evening Buffy, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Oz, and Giles all met at the library. Buffy knew that she wasn't the only one who had no idea why they were all there. She had seen Giles researching like mad all day. However when she had asked him what he was researching, he had remained tight lipped on the subject.

They all sat now at the large polished table in the centre of the library floor. Giles walked around and gave them all cups of coffee, as Buffy glanced up at him quizzically

"Giles never does this..." she thought to herself.

"I expect that it's going to be a long night." He said, trying to calm her queries while taking off his glasses and rubbing his nose.

Angel walked in, as if on cue and now that they were all there, Buffy was sure there was something wrong

Giles came forward and told the group that he had reason to suspect that a dark force was descending on Sunnydale. However, he felt that the only person in the room that was adequate to tell them about it, was Angel.

But before Angel could come forward to speak of Amara and Anastasia, the library doors swung open. Angel looked up, only to find that he was staring at a face from his distant past; a face he'd rather have forgotten; a face that had secretly haunted him for years.

Buffy couldn't help but notice all the colour drain from her Angel's face, as he stared long and hard at the intruder

The rest of the group however, turned their attention to the doors only when they heard the clicking noise of shoes on the marble floor.

The girl that stood before them was breathtaking. She didn't look a day older than sixteen, but Buffy knew, somehow, that she had lived a lifetime, perhaps even two. She was immortal.

The girl wore a long black skirt that hung to the floor, a shirt that was the colour of blood and a jacket reminiscent of the one that Drusilla had worn the last time any of them had seen her. The girl's face was the whitest that any of them had ever seen, on either a vampire or demon. Her lips however, were the colour of red wine and her brown eyes seemed to shine in the dim light of the library.

"Amara..." Angel whispered.

"Hello Angel. It's been a while. I've missed you..." The stranger replied, a slight smile creeping into the corners of her mouth.
