Part 3b
She could not believe it. Willow felt that her whole life had just crumbled around her. Alexis was a slayer. Giles was just clinging to her sobbing. She felt like she was holding a child not her husband. He was just falling apart. She knew that she had to be strong for the family.
She looked at her friends Angel, Cordelia and Fr Frank. Then she looked at her godson Rupert Xander. She mustered up a smile and said "Rupert Xander you know where Alexis room is why don't you go up and see her. OK hon?"
Cordelia looked down at her adopted son and said to him "Why don't you go up".
"I want to stay here," said Rupert Xander.
"You heard the ladies now go", Angel said his voice choking.
"Ok" replied Rupert Xander and off he went.
"I don't know what to do. Alexis, our dear sweet daughter a slayer," Giles said not really saying it to anyone in particular.
"I knew", replied Angel softly, almost inaudibly.
Everyone just stayed still for what seemed an eternity. Slowly Giles rose from his chair and slowly walked over to Angel. Willow did not quite know what to make of this. Her friend held vital information from them. She just watched Giles finally meet Angel.
"I did not think" responded Angel and as soon as he was about to say the next word Giles slapped him hard across the mouth.
"You bastard. Thats right you did not think" hissed Giles. Willow had never seen him this angry. She rushed to his side. She understood the anger that her husband was feelings.
"Sorry. Giles, Willow. I thought it was for the best. Slaying is my responsibility." stammered Angel realizing that this was a mistake on his part.
"Angel, your slaying, your responsibility!! You knew my daughter, your godchild was a slayer and you kept it from us. What right did you have," shouted Giles. "Cordelia did you know? Frank?"
Cordelia walked up to Giles and gently said "no. He never told me."
"Giles, you are not being fair to Angel. He loves all of you and he thinks of Alexis as his own daughter. You know that. He thought he was doing the right thing. And no he never told me." calmly said Father Frank.
Willow put her hands on Giles shoulder and she felt the tenseness in his shoulders. She just said "Giles, shhh. Angel made a serious mistake but Father Frank is correct." she then looked at Angel and said "Angel you should have told us. How long have you known."
"I knew since the day of Cordelia and I got married. I thought if no one knew you would all lead the normal life you deserve. Thats all" responded Angel sheepishly.
"Angel my daughter nearly was killed two days ago because of your mistake. Good thing instincts took over or we would be at her gravesite." Giles said lashing back. With the final words he just sat.
"I know." Angel simply said.
"What happened? You never gave us the full details over the phone?" Cordelia interjected. Willow knew it was her way of getting everyone back on track.
"Alright. Giles why don't i tell everyone what happened since i was there." Willow said rubbing her hands on Giles shoulders. She knew that it was time to state what happened.
"Go ahead" Giles said angerly staring at Angel.
"Two nights ago," Willow began. "Alexis and I were on our Friday night shopping spree at the mall. As usual we stayed until closing time. When we walked out of the mall we naturally headed for the car. Along the way a man walked up to us wanting directions. Well i starting giving him directions and Willow kept pulling me away. I thought at first she was just impatient and then the mans face changed to a face i have not seen in 25 years. A vampires face. I just screamed and grabbed Alexis and ran to the car hoping to drive away." Willows voice at this point was shaking.
She continued "We got inside and the vampire just smashed the drivers side window. I looked at Alexis and noticed she was gone. My heart was racing. I then saw her standing behind the vampire and i just yelled 'run' to her. She just tapped his shoulder and i was thinking 'oh dear god no'. He turned around to face her and suddenly i just saw him crumbling to dust. She had in her hand one of Giles screwdrivers that he left in the car."
Everyone just looked at Willow.
"Well" Willow said. "Do you remember how everyone used to say how much Alexis has an uncanny resemblence to Buffy. Well her eyes after the kill looked identical to Buffy's."
"Soul transformation. Its quite simple." said Father Frank.
"Of course its soul transformation", Giles said rather perturbed.
"The watchers have always none this", continued Giles.
"Yes, but how was i suppose to know? I am not a watcher." responded Frank with a chuckle.
"Sorry, i thought you knew" Giles said almost apologetically. Willow knew that Giles realized that he should not have snapped at Frank.
"Giles its ok we know how you feel but if there is one vampire there will be more." Cordelia said diplomatically.
Suddenly Alexis walked into the room.
"Hi everyone. Aunt Cordelia, Fr Frank and Uncle Angel wait there is something wrong with you Uncle." Alexis said innocently.
Willow realizing what she meant started to walk towards Alexis. Suddenly she saw Alexis grab Giles' letter opener. Oh no she thought.
Everyone realized Alexis' intention. Alexis suddenly pounced with the letter opener straight towards Angel. Willow attempted to grab her. Cordelia looked in horror. Angel just sat like a deer looking at headlights. Father Frank tried pushing Angel out of the way.
Giles though threw his body in front of Angels and Willow saw that Alexis' forward momentum pushed the letter opener straight into her father's heart.
Alexis just stood there with her hand still holding the letter opener and blood just spurting out of her father. Everyone gathered around them. Giles' body just slumped to the ground.
Willow just screamed and threw her daughter away from her husband. Willow tear stained cradles her husbands dying body.
Suddenly two figures walked into the room: Xander and Buffy they were both ghosts. The walked through everyone and stood over Giles and Willow.
Buffy simply said "Willow its Giles' time we will see that he is always happy and the three of us will protect you and your daughter. Alexis is not to blame she just needs to learn control herself."
Buffy then turned to Alexis and took lifted her chin so Alexis could look at her face. "Alexis", Buffy said angelically. "You need to control yourself. You are a slayer and part of me is in you. Let Angel and Father Frank teach you and please do not blame yourself for this. Your instincts took over but you need them to teach you to master it."
Xander walked over to Angel and simply said, "Sorry for all the times i insulted you. I am holding a place for you if you ever well you know. You are a good man. Cordelia, Angel be good to little Giles he has a great future."
Xander and Buffy then walked back to Giles and each grabbed a hand. A flash of light and all in the room saw Giles spirit rise up. The three of them slowly started walking towards the door.
Willow looked at them and saw Giles turn his head towards her and said. "Willow, Alexis I love you. Angel, Cordelia bye my children."
Suddenly Buffy whirled around and pointed at Frank. "Oh my god. Frank! I know who you are!" Then the three of them vanished.
Willow stood there not sure what to say. Her husband and two friends just vanished. Her husband dead and she just walked over and hugged her sobbing daughter. Willow's heart was shattered but she knew her daughter was not to blame. She looked at Angel and Cordelia who were walking over to console her and her daughter and she suddenly realized that Father Frank had vanished.
