I wrote this at work and forwarded to myself at home and am now forwarding it to all of you. With all the encouragement and compliments and great pointers about the story 20 Years Later this is part 1 of a sequel. This part is Cordelia's story the next part will be Angel's story. The first part was Giles.
Again i welcome all comments and so far the comments have been excellent for all my stories. Thanks to one and all.
Part One
Cordelia's Story
Twenty years ago they were so young. God how cruel i was to my friends, my family. Twenty years ago.
Cordelia went back to her desk. Sunnydale what a town she thought. Infested like vampires and creatures of evil.
But at the age of 36 this was her town. The townspeople placed her in charge. She knew that she was not a slayer but she would not allow evil to win no matter what the cost. This was her town and the townspeople her charges.
The town lost so much with the death of Xander and Buffy. When they died her family just crumbled. Her own parents had died when she was twenty by Colin's henchmen. Giles had made her his daughter and payed for law school. She was just starting being a lawyer for poor families when Xander and Buffy died and Giles and Willow fleeing to New Hampshire.
She could have gone with them but this was her town and she was staying put. Her parents along with Buffy and Xander would not die in vain she felt if she stayed where she was.
A knock on the door broke her reminiscing. In walked Willow, Giles and their daughter Alexis Buffy.
She just looked at them for a minute and no one said anything. Willow was very distinguished and still slender. Her hair was peppered with grey and face still smooth but her eyes seemed older then her age.
Giles was so sad looking, Cordelia thought. He held his daughters hand and kept her close to him as if he was afraid of seeing her get lost. He looked like a lost soul.
"Giles," Cordelia said hugging him closely. "How are you my dear?"
Cordelia then walked to Willow and hugged her repeating the same thing.
She then bent down and looked at Alexis. "How are you Alexis, remember me its your Aunt Cordelia." With this she filled up with tears. Her family was with her and Alexis uncannily like a little Buffy Sommers.
"I made coffee for you Willow and heres some tea Giles. Alexis do you like Hot Cocoa i have some for you." said Cordelia.
"Thank you Cordelia. Giles is just having it rough today. We visited the cemetary and Giles is just exhausted. Alexis seems to be his only comfort. She is almost like his second chance." Willow said taking her husbands hand.
"I can see the way he is holding her hand that he seems to want to protect her." Cordelia replied looking at Giles remembering how spry and agile he was when Hellmouth opened a long 20 years ago.
"So what have you two been doing on the other side of the country?" Cordelia asked wanting to get on a lighter topic and secretly wishing she was with them.
"Well, I run the city library and Giles works part time at the library in the children's section. He mainly reads to children and teaches them to read." said Willow enjoying this friendly banter. "While i take care of all the book orderings and the administrative stuff."
"Giles" Cordelia gently said looking at Giles. "What do you read to them?"
Giles looked at Cordelia noticing that this woman was not the same woman he meet twenty years ago but like Willow turned into a good person and socially responsible person. "I just read fairy tales and Dr Seuss to the children. They seem to love fairy tales."
"I like fairy tales too", interjected Alexis.
"Alexis what did i tell you about interrupting adults." Giles gently told his daughter.
"Thats ok Giles. I was like that at her age. What fairy tales do you like?" Cordelia asked bending down to talk to her at her level.
"Stories in which the princess marries the prince. Like Sleeping Beauty"
"I enjoyed those stories too" responded Cordelia smiling at Alexis and remembering her own childhood.
"Oh that reminds me with all my mayoral duties. I am marrying Angelus."
